Nothing but praise for AMed Community Hospice! My mom was put on hospice 2 years ago, so we really got to know the caregivers and the Caseworker, Donna. Donna visited her at least twice a week and CNA Marianna (sp!) gave her baths 3 times a week. Both Donna and Marianna were the most caring, loving people we could have hoped for....

When it was determined that my mom was "actively dying", Donna ordered 24-hour round-the-clock bedside assistance. That meant that, in the final week, my mom had someone at her bed ALL THE TIME. The hospice workers that AMed sent out were very sympathetic and caring; all the time helping our family cope with our loved one's passing. We all learned a lot about how to say our good-byes and ensure my mom's peaceful transition. I am very satisfied with how it all went, and very THANKFUL TO AMED Hospice for everything.

Beware of A-Med Hospice

I was horrified at the lack of care that my father-in-law received through A-med. A-Med repeatedly told the patient once you sign up with hospice you can not go to the hospital. The last week of his life he received NO CARE AT ALL. I had requested daily visits from a nurse and aide. No one came while the assigned nurse knew that his wife has dementia and could not care for him. After repeatedly failing to visit up for 3 days the nurse told us that she was shocked at how far my father-in-law had deteriorated since her last visit. This incident happened weeks before his death, and still they continued to neglect the patient. Calling a patient instead of visiting (promises broken) when the hospice team KNEW that he was on heavy doses of Morphine and in PAIN, discomfort and dehydrated. A-Meds poor care left the patient in agony in his last few days. A-Med failure in service and performance is deadly – beware-do not use service. A-Med should be ashamed!
