This company is absolutely horrible. They sent a tech., Jose, out to do a HVAC check. I ended up paying $170 so that the unit could be cleaned, as the tech. stated, ""Everything is running perfectly but the unit needs to be cleaned."" So I reluctantly spent $170. Five days later a high pitched s…

Takeair has served the Greater...

Takeair has served the Greater Houston and Dallas Ft. Worth Areas for many years. We pride ourselves on our service and professionalism. We cater to an array of services and attempt to satisfy our customers to the fullest extent. Furthermore, these allegations truly distress us as a whole and we wish to clarify them henceforth. We provide our services with fully trained and certified technicians. All of our trucks are labeled with company logos and information and all technicians are uniformed thusly. Before working with us all employees are given full background checks and they have been with us for many years. We are members of the BBB and NADCA and uphold their policies as well as ours. We at all times are and have been fully licensed, bonded and insured. We cannot operate otherwise. Our company license, which we invite all to research, has been in effect at all times TACLA20163E. Although, our company owner shares the first name of our technicians they are not one and the same person. We address this even though it is not pertinent to our service provided. Now addressing the issues concerning the services, HVAC systems and their corresponding ducts are subject to variation in cleaning. As with a car it must receive cleaning and maintenance of its components to ensure healthy indoor air environment as well as a finely tuned running system, If not maintained throughout the lifetime of the home, they are commonly encountered with mold, mildew, and layers of dirt dust and debris. Unfortunately, in these situations a basic cleaning more often than not cannot be conducted properly. It is the duty of our technicians to fully inspect the HVAC and duct system before commencing any work. If any coupon or basic cleaning advertisement cannot be conducted the customer is given a full estimate on what each individual system needs. We urge the general public to become more informed. We offer detailed information on our websites and you can search and educate yourselves on many sites. Now with carpets, it is also important for annual cleaning to maintain its’ appearance and cleanliness. We also must address that if carpets suffer from pet stains or spills or water damage enough to reach the carpet pad, and not addressed properly, can further damage your carpet if professionally cleaned. If any customer has any complaint or dissatisfaction our company prides itself on responding and resolving these situations as quickly and efficiently as possible. TakeAir has serviced thousands of residents all over Houston/Dallas/Ft. Worth to their satisfaction and it is unfortunate for those few who are the exception. However, to these exceptions TakeAir will remedy each situation to the best of our capabilities. We are sincere in our service and will strive to continue every day. Thank you for your consideration, time and business as well as all comments from our customers. Sincerely, Mor Izhaki GM TakeAir Duct & carpet Cleaning Specialists, LLC.

After reading Pristine Carpet Cleaning reviews from www.customerlobby.com from there website www.pristinecarpetcleanhouston.com, I knew this company was very professional and could take care of our cleaning needs. My pets do not like to go outside when it rains, needless to say, my house started smelling of pet odors. I Found a website that had a lot of info. about why my pets were going in the house (www.petodorremovalhouston.com), I ended up at www.carpetcleaninghoustonreviews.com and found out that it was another website of Pristine carpet cleaning and Jeff had all 5 star reviews (65), wow, this guy knows what he is doing. Once again, very professional. This company cleans only with the Rotovac Powerwand, the deepest cleaning that you can get done. Before the cleaning was to be done, I needed carpet stretching (www.carpetstretchinghouston.com) done because I had lots of ripples in my carpet, Pristine carpet cleaning gave me a 40% discount. Before picking pristine carpet cleaning, I was reading carpet cleaning reviews of another company here in Houston (deluxe carpet cleaning), once I read about six reviews of them, I knew this was a bad company. Called deluxe about some prices and Steve (the guy that answer the phone) was very rude once I told him I was checking out their prices only...This company even wanted to charge me a truck charge of $10 dollars for driving to my house, what kind of a rip off is that? Later, I found out that the owners name of deluxe carpet cleaning was Steve Smith, besides being very rude because I didn't set an appointment with him, I found out that this company was very shady. Dos: Read the companies reviews before you call them. It will save you a lot of time. Don'ts: Never assume that a company is good because it has a greater raking for your search

Not very impressed with this (...

Not very impressed with this (A-) BBB rated, NADCA certified company. Hired SpeedDry for air duct cleaning for their $99 special to clean my entire house (need I say more -- you get what you pay for!). We never had air duct cleaning before and thought we would try it out. They pulled up in an unmarked DIRTY truck (which I thought was ironic for a cleaning company). And, as I was not surprised, that $99 special turned into first a $350 quote for the basic cleaning ($99 for first unit, $250 for second AC unit which I was NEVER told on the phone), then an $800 quote bc they allegedly found leaks and a small amount of mold in our 5 yr old home. The tech asked if we had any health problems? Reply, NO. He still recommended that we pay the $800 for the total package that came with a 2 yr warranty. Reply, NO. I didn't know enough about the air duct cleaning business to warrant such a charge. The 2 techs finished the cleaning job in LESS THAN AN HOUR and advised me that they would only charge me $200 ($99 per unit) even though they really couldn't do that..they were giving me a GREAT DEAL! (sarcasm purposely added). After asking more questions about the service, the tech became a little combative (not sure why, ummm I wonder) and walked out of my house while I was still speaking and asking questions. Wow, really??!!! So, we paid $200 for air duct cleaning that I can't see made much of a difference in our house as far as dust and air quality. But hey, it was a lesson learned. First time for everything...will probably never have that service again. We'll just stick to changing our air filters on a bi-monthly basis.

Clean Air America

Having recently had our air ducts & carpets cleaned by Clean Air America, we began to research ways to lower our electricity costs before the Houston summer heat began to take its toll - our energy bills during summer 2012 were ridiculous. So glad we followed our instinct of going back to Clean Air America. They helped us evaluate our home energy consumption with old A/C unit & the energy bills we experienced from last summer. Quick comparisons were made to illustrate the savings we would see after replacing our old unit with new higher efficient 16SEER unit. The proof is definitely in my Reliant bill, already seeing a positive return. Just judge for yourself: May 2012 electric bill = $538...May2013 electric bill = $110!!! My wife & I are were completely happy with the choice to use Clean Air America, feels good to share the news of their great service with our friends & neighbors...especially anyone else who might have an older home, older A/C unit, etc. Totally helps budgeting for our growing family! Another plus with Clean Air America was our receiving a personal visit from the owner to follow-up after the installation - we shared our energy bill that proved he was right about the cost savings, confirming our unit will likely pay for itself within the next 2 summers. My neighbor was also impressed by the owner's visit...their sure to receive the same great service. Now when our guests come over during heat of summer we can enjoy cool low temps inside while the Houston humidity does its thing. Thanks again Clean Air America!

This company did WONDERS in my home. I was very impressed with them as i have used a different company before and swore i would never do that service in my home again, i went against my gut a year after my first bad encounter with another company, & am glad i did. When i called to schedule, someone answered the phone right away, she was very pleasant & knowledgable , she answered all my questions and even let me know of a discount they were offering at the time which saved me $149.00!!! So i was happy about that from the get go. When the tech showed up at my house, he greeted me and introduced himself and his helper. they went through the home adn did an "inspection" to let me know exactly what they were going to do and let me know of other things that they could do if i agreed. they wernt pushy or forceful for me to purchase mroe service, they just let me know and went on about their business. in the end i was extremely pleased and will definatley ve using them annually to clean my ducting and will probably use them for their carpet cleaning services too if they are as good as the duct cleaning. The company was great and very knowledgable and ON TIME, no hassle, no forceful sales, just did they work and left.

So lets be real here ....... we all get a crappy experience once in a while with alot of companies but let me just get this off my chest cause it irks me when people drop the poison when in most cases it all stems from not doing your homework on what you want and what they really cost............ so with all that said TakeAir did a stellar job on my carpets got a deal online and I did have to get my whole HVAC system taken care of but i live in a 30 year old house that never had it done before so it was an epic disaster.....However..... I checked their estimate and its an expensive service everywhere from sears to coit soooooo they were cheaper they have good credentials and i got a warranty ........... so moral of story is people do your homework for anything that you need to get done and shop around ........and just because you confuse yourself dont take it out on the company. THANKS TAKEAIR

I am so pleased I found their ...

I am so pleased I found their service company . My appliance repair man recommended them and said that we had a fire hazard in our dryer vent. I placed a call and was scheduled the very next day. They called before they arrived. We had always had a problem with our dryer vents from the time we moved into our home in Houston six years ago and had replaced the original dryer after several repairs. Non of that had ever solved the problem and made a repair to the dryer vent and that was the hidden issue. I had all but given up on faster drying. Takeair not only cleaned our dryer vent, they also found a problem within the dryer vent line that no one else ever discovered. I am very pleased with this company and my clothes now dry in one cyrcle! Thank you Takeair for a fantastic job.

Extreme Air Duct Cleaning and Restoration

The guy from extreme came over today to clean my carpets and tiles. Sam and Jaime were the technicians that completed the work. I must say that I didn't expect everything to come out from the carpet and I was told by the Sam that most likely some of the spot are a permanent stains. They did try their best to remove the spot and most of them did came out. Jaime said that the spots left on the carpet are discoloration from the dog's urine. I gave them 5 stars because they showed up on time, worked really hard on my carpets and bathroom floor tiles, and the price I paid was less then what I was quoted over the phone by KIWI and Sears. I think that I will use them again next year and I would recommend to give them a try.

Kiwi Carpet Cleaning

I would highly recommend Kiwi carpet cleaning to anyone! I have used several other companies and they are by far the best one I have used, both for their service and professionalism as well as they are competitively priced. I had stains that the Kiwi cleaning tech was able to remove that other cleaning services were unable to. The cleaning solutions used also smell wonderful and are non-toxic, which was a concern for me since I have a toddler. And finally, I would also recommend them because of their pricing special; if you schedule a carpet cleaning before the yearly warranty expires you can have the same rooms cleaned for a fraction of the price (I think it is $4 for each area for me). I recommend them to anyone!

I have pets! And having a great carpet company that knows how to rid of my pesty smells is an essential because I love to throw gatherings and entertain. I now have a baby and it couldn't mean more to me than to know my carpet is safe and clean. Kiwi has provided me with excellent service every single time. They don't flood my carpet with water....they use some type of cool system that gets all the odors and stains out very easily. Everytime they finish my carpet smells and looks fresh. Just recently I used them to move from one house to another and I was able to get my complete deposit back because my carpet area was soo nice...and I have pets! Amazing....they are my #1 carpet company...I will use them forever!

Did You Know?

Mistakes happen, and when it comes to owning a carpet or rug, mistakes usually mean stains. The plush softness of carpet and rugs comes with a price: the time and care required to clean them. Cleaning your carpet or rugs can require some extra work and special techniques that differ from typical hardwood or tile floors. In some cases, you may even need to hire a professional to get the best results.

DIY Cleaning

For minor stains or routine cleaning, it's possible to effectively treat a carpet or rug yourself. If a thorough vacuuming doesn't get rid of dirt in certain areas, here's how to tackle them on your own.

Stain Basics

A number of liquids can stain carpet or rug materials, including wine, coffee, nail polish, or blood, to name a few. Depending on what caused the stain, the carpet or rug's material, and how long it's been there, you may need to use different techniques or cleaning supplies to get rid of it. In general, though, keep the following ground rules in mind for stain removal:

  1. Apply a cleaning solvent directly on the stain, if needed, and allow it to soak in for a few seconds.
  2. Use a damp cloth to blot the spot. Don't scrub or apply too much pressure, as this might only further embed the stain into the carpet or rug.
  3. Rinse the cloth and continue blotting until the stain is removed.

Take these steps to remove a stain as soon as possible to prevent drying.

Solvents

Some stains may come out with little more than water or a mild soap. More serious stains may require a solvent to make removal easier. The best solvent to use depends on what caused the stain.

-Water-soluble stains: These include berries, cola, food dye, jelly, mud, washable ink, or wet paint. Mix a solution of 1/4-teaspoon nonbleach detergent (or white vinegar) with 32 ounces of water.

-Dark water-soluble stains: Chocolate, coffee, mustard, tea, wine, and bodily fluids often stain much more readily than other water-soluble materials and need a different solvent. Use 1 tablespoon of ammonia mixed in 1 cup of water first. If this doesn't work, try combining one part chlorine bleach with five parts water. These solvents may remove color from certain fabrics like wool, so check with the manufacturer for the best cleaning method.

-Oils and waxes: This would include glue, gum, nail polish, and cigarette residue. The best way to clean each of these varies - some may need to be simply scraped off or, if possible, frozen to make it brittle and then chipped away. Most glue can be dissolved and removed using a solvent like rubbing alcohol. Nail polish may also be dissolved using rubbing alcohol or with nail polish remover containing acetone.

Why You Should Hire a Carpet Cleaner Service

Unfortunately, some stains may prove difficult to remove using household products. In any case, vacuuming and spot cleaning may not be enough to get your carpet or rug looking like new again. That's why many homeowners opt to hire a professional carpet cleaning service on a regular basis, around once every 12 to 18 months.

When it comes to heavy-duty carpet cleaning, you have many options to pick from. The two most common methods for cleaning carpets are steam cleaning and dry cleaning.

Steam Cleaning Carpets

Steam cleaning is a common method for professional carpet cleaning, but the name is somewhat misleading. Steam-cleaning services use machines that utilize hot (but not boiling) water in combination with a vacuum. The water is heated inside the machine and sometimes mixed with detergent before being sprayed directly onto the carpet. At the same time, a vacuum sucks up the water almost immediately after hitting the fabric. The hot water extracts far more dirt and stains than would be possible by hand.

Cleaning machines using hot water extraction can be purchased or rented for home use, but they aren't always as powerful as what professional cleaning services use. Improperly drying the carpet may also cause bacteria or mold growth. Professional cleaners also employ a number of other methods to pre-treat the carpet and ensure adequate drying. For these reasons, professional carpet cleaning may be preferable to do-it-yourself methods.

Dry Cleaning

Carpets or rugs can also be thoroughly cleaned using a dry-cleaning method. As the name suggests, there is much less water involved in dry cleaning, which means the carpet can be ready to use in less time. Using powerful solvents to break down dirt and stains, dry cleaning puts less physical stress on the carpet, and thus might be better in the long run. However, dry cleaning is usually more expensive than hot-water cleaning services. In addition, the chemicals used to dry clean carpets might irritate pets, people with sensitive skin, or anyone sensitive to strong odors.

What to Ask a Professional Service

Before choosing a professional carpet cleaning service, make sure you will be getting what you paid for by asking the right questions and doing your homework.

Decide Which Method to Use

Again, there are pros and cons involved in using a hot-water-based cleaning service or dry cleaning. Take into consideration not only cost, but how long the process will take from start to finish, including drying time. Also take note of the material your carpet is made from, and consult the manufacturer if possible to learn about the best ways to clean it. If you or your family is sensitive to any chemicals, be sure to keep this in mind and ask about what chemicals are used.

Research Online or in Person

You can find reviews of most professional carpet-cleaning services online, as well as information about a company's specific process, the chemicals used, and cost. It's also wise to ask friends and family members about services they've used in the past to get a recommendation. Don't always go with the service offering the lowest price, or hire a service who advertises door-to-door or over the phone, unless you have done thorough research on them.

Ask About Employees and Services Offered

Carpet cleaning services will be entering your home, potentially while you aren't there, so you want to feel comfortable with the business you trust with this responsibility. Ask if the company conducts background checks on employees, as well as if they are insured in your state. Without liability insurance, a mistake that results in damage to your home or furniture may be your responsibility to pay for.

Getting a Quote

If you've found a carpet-cleaning service you can trust, ask to get a quote. This may involve specifying exactly what services you would like performed, as well as the size of your home's carpeted area. Make sure you understand exactly what is included in a quoted price. Some businesses may charge extra to move furniture, clean stairs, or use special treatment methods. It's also common for businesses to sell customers on products and services they don't need. Don't hesitate to ask questions if any detail about the quote is unclear.

Choosing a Carpet Cleaner

If you instead want to rent or buy a carpet-cleaning machine to use yourself, you have many options to pick from.

Renting

Since heavy-duty carpet cleaning isn't a frequent activity for most homeowners, many choose to simply rent one of these machines. Of course, renting is usually much cheaper than owning a machine or hiring a service, which is the biggest advantage in this situation. But not all rental units perform equally, and some might require extra drying time or the use of special solvents that will cost more. There's also the time and effort that goes into carpet cleaning - renting a unit means you must also move furniture yourself and pay close attention to ensure you're operating the unit correctly. Making a mistake could mean damaging your carpet or the unit itself. Also, improperly drying carpet could allow harmful bacteria and mold to grow. Before renting a carpet cleaner, make sure you're up for the task at hand.

Owning Your Own

Homeowners can purchase carpet cleaners ranging from compact units to full-size industrial-strength machines. Besides price, take note of the features of a unit and compare them to what you most need from a carpet cleaner. Some models specialize in removing allergens from pet hair, while others may work better on tough stains, for example. Another key consideration: Make sure you have room for it. Some carpet cleaners can be bulky and require ample storage space.

Other features you may want to look for in a cleaning unit include:

  • Attachments: Some models include special attachments that work on upholstery, stairs, bare floors, or small spaces.
  • Brushes: Some units may not use a brush to agitate the carpet, while others might use a stationary one or multiple actuating brushes.
  • Hose length: Bigger machines can be hard to maneuver around a room. Having a detachable hose of considerable length can make it easier to clean open spaces as well as more cramped areas.

Make the right choice in carpet cleaners by considering all the options available to you and how they fit into your needs and budget.
