I am a Rice University Professor. Recently I held a meeting on the Rice campus consisting of about 25 people from all over the country and a good representation from Southern California. We went to Pico's in a small bus for dinner. You served us Parilla Mixta family style. The food, was excellent and fairly priced. The service was excellent and there was a a good atmosphere. I found it interesting that the California visitors who are so proud of their California Mexican food, stated that they were truly surprised that they had to come to Houston for the best Mexican food they had ever had. Thank you for adding to the success of my conference. Last month Pico's catered a gathering of family and friends at my house where we were celebrating my wife's and my Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. We had about 120 people present from all over the country and some from other countries. You food was the hit of the day. It was excellent.Your delivered the food and took care of every detail. We just served. It was a pleasure working with such competent and professional people. We will do this again. Thank you Pico's.
Don't go it' nasty ... The food was a joke we ordered 6 pc shrimp and it looked iike we had ordered a kids meal the shrimps were tiny and the service was bad the waitress never came back to the table to check on us and the place looked dirty.. Never again will I go there.

26. Pete's B-B-Q
pete still comes in daily, his family is there too. the ribs are some of the best in houston and the thick sliced brisket is tasty.pass on the sausage though. he has fresh veggies as well. the home made salse is outstanding!
29. Empire Seafood
I go there w/ friends at least once every 2 months and I've never been dissapointed. Good food, great service, and the best margaritas I've ever tasted. When I went back this weekend, they informed us that they are going through some renovations but didn't exactly tell us what it was. They told …
30. Grisby Grill
The menu is short, but that is not a problem if you are looking for seafood or steak. Both are excellent and good sized portions. Excellent bread, too. It's kind of out of the way, but worth the trip.
In an area full of bland seafood restaurants (Joe's Crab Shack and Red Lobster), its nice to find this refreshing spot. Their ownly downside is the service. When we first started going we had this delightful waitress. She was our main reason for coming all the time. We've watched the staff change constantly and lately the young teenagers they hire just aren't up to standard. They are always standing around the front door or out back chatting. Also, don't go on a themed party night. There aren't enough tables and you end up waiting hours for a table. The food is really good. Love their stuffed shrimp, gumbo and fish tacos. Don't miss out on their selection of desserts either!! Especially the bread pudding. Monday night all their on the board specials are under $9.00 making them very affordable. My daughter and I like going on Wednesday for the 1/2 price bottle of wine night which is great for long conversation over dinner and catching up. If you haven't been, at least give them a try!
I lucked out with Crawfish and Noodles...I met a friend of the family and was told to go there. I thought, "Why not...She's a friend; I support local restuarants..." And to my surprise, I fell in love, seriously! I absolutely LOVE spicy food! Even more so, SPICY CRAWFISH!! These crawfish are so spicy there and they're covered with garlic. But the best part is that each crawfish head is full of juice and the meat of the tail has tons of flavor!!! It's not like the other crawfish restuarants in Houston where they sprinkle spicy seasoning on the preboiled crawfish...Crawfish and Noodles must boil they're crawish in the sauce/juice, which they do to perfection!! I mean when I say that this restuarant has made it into my top 5 favorites in Houston...You will not be disappointed!!!!
Can't say enough about the quality experience and level of service we enjoyed again at Houston's spectacular Rainbow Lodge. For years we have made it a requirement to celebrate our anniversary there and every year the experience continues to be world class. From the time we get there until we leave, the staff see to our every wish, the food is always the very best and the atmosphere is as nice as you can find anywhere. A brief call ahead has for years resulted in special reservations treatment that match the occasion. The location is relatively new but the food, service and experience are still as good as they have been ever since our first visit on the bayou many years ago. Great Place with great people, Bob and Jeanne 45yrs…and still going
Our family stopped at this restaurant because we noticed it had a lot of customers. We felt that was an indication of the quality of the food. We weren't wrong. As soon as you walk in the scent of fresh sea food permeates the atmosphere the waitresses are friendly and the prices are reasonable. We ordered the gumbo, the family fried fish & shrimp with mambo rice and fresh lemonades. The fish and shrimp were excellent! The crust is flavorfull and has just the right thickness The fish was oh soooo good. We are from Laredo, Texas so we probably won't get to eat their delicious good for a while. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal while it lasted. Will try to come back when we are in the Houston area.
the best mud bugs you'll ever eat!! And it doesn't stop there, you gotta try out some of their fried seafood!! I come here to eat often and I always order the crawfish and pho, but never tried anything from the fried menu. I finally ventured out and ordered some fried catfish, oysters, shrimp and fries and I was not disappointed!! The catfish filet was the biggest and tastiest I've ever eaten. Also ask about the size of the raw oysters, depending on the season they have some of the largest and freshest you'll every try. They also grill them which is great and tasty, but I like'm raw! Crazy thing is that you'll find them here at Houston's very own china town
Came into town and I gotta agree with the other guy. This food is GOOD. The crawfish is kick azz. And the com bo luc lac is flavorful and tender. If you don't know how to cook beef it can be tough as leather but this dish is done right. The best part is I'm a seafood lover , my hubby is meat eater and my kids only eat noodles (pho) so to find a place to accommodate all our tastes is hard. Not to mention the prices were reasonable. We came in and left happy. The restaurant is clean and nice, the plaza is attractive, and you can get desert next door if you still have room... ;0) We will be definitely eating here when we come back to Houston.
Not sure what the other reviewer's problem was with this restaurant, because my husband and I thought it was wonderful. We were sold on the 2 salsa's they give you up front and they had the best guacamole that we've ever had from a "Taqueria" ever. In fact, it was better than most other well known Tex-Mex restaurants. We love the texture of the Taco Shells (nice and sturdy), not soggy. We will definitely go there again. As far as not knowing English, well, what do you expect from a Taqueria? Point to the item you want on the menu, why don't you? You'll get what you ordered.
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out today. We had Super Spicy Cajun and Spicy Homemade Garlic Butter (with BIG chunks of garlic :). Both were very good and were actually spicy! Price is, of course, market price. Today was $5.49/lb. $1 extra for the garlic. You pay for potatoes though...3/$1. The girl working there was very nice and attentive. About a 10 minute wait for the crawfish. The best part is that it is SO close to home! We went around 2:45 and were the only ones eating in. Will come back, maybe even tonight with friends. BYOB.
I frequent this particular Pappadeaux's restaurant at least once a week or every other week. I have been going there for a few years & have gotten the chance to know most of the employees. Even though they change personnel a lot, it is still nice to be welcomed so well & treated with kindness. Always have a wonderful dining experience. Victoria is one of the best waitpersons I have had the pleasure of serving me in a restaurant. Good place to go for lunch or dinner. Check it out.
