My family went here to celebrate 2 birthdays a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was crowded and there were 7 of us. The food was very good - from the bread to the calamari to our entrees. No one had any complaints. My sister loved the…

I have eaten at several Carrabba's and this one (on 1960 & Champion Forest) is the best!! Service is excellent--usually more a ""professonal waitstaff"" than high students trying to make a quick buck. The food is consistently wonderful--never had a bad meal. Favorite dishes are Pollo Rosa Maria,…

Cavatore Italian Restaurant

Cavatore Italian Restaurant se...

Cavatore Italian Restaurant serves family-friendly Italian fare. This red-checkered tablecloth restaurant has been serving country-style Italian fare since 1984. Rustic and charming, from the outdoor paddle wheel to the open-loft ceiling, you will experience a unique setting as soon as you step into this 100 year old barn turned restaurant. Located near the Heights on Ella Boulevard a few blocks inside the 610 loop. SInce our last visit a couple of years ago, we understand that Cavatore has acquired new management. We were disappointed to discover that the former piano player, Michael Angelo, who was always very friendly and accommodating, had been replaced by a duo of musicians who are billed as playing jazz but who in actuality, at least while we were present, performed a mixed musical selection. We understand that the food and service has declined somewhat under the new management. We would concur based upon our most recent dining experience. While our service was good and the food quality acceptable if average, it failed to excite us nor did it seem as savory as in the past. For the price diners can do better if seeking authentic Italian cuisine. Old world standard Italian dishes are served in a casual space adorned with an eclectic blend of memorabilia from across Italy. Appetizers include Italian meats and cheeses, squid and escargot. Classic entrees include Spaghetti, ravioli, cannellone and linguini. From the Calamari Fritti appetizer to the Lasagna Al Forno, this casual Italian restaurant provides many several options sure to appeal to the children as well as adults in the group . Leave room for traditional "dolci" like cannoli, tiramisu and spumoni. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply taking a break from the workday world, Cavatore’s is a good choice for a reasonably priced casual Italian venue with an appealing décor. Hopefully Cavatore will regain its stride soon.

I came here for my fiance's bi...

I came here for my fiance's birthday to have a nice dinner date. I can say right from the get go, things just went downhill. Our hostess that sat us down was not very nice to us at all... she looked at me and my fiance up and down and gave a us a snooty look and showed us to our table. She tossed our menus on the table and left us. As we were sitting, my fiance and I saw that other workers were sitting in the corner have their lunch/dinner break. He and I both understood that everyone needs their break, but no one told anyone that we had been sitting there for about 10 minutes with no one asking what we wanted to drink. Finally I saw our hostess and gave a look showing I was about to leave and she finally told our waiter that we were sitting there. He took our drink order and it took him 15 minutes to even get us our water (Now mind you, they were not busy at all due to it being around 4pm). He then took our food order and brought our salad out within 10 minutes... which wasn't a lot either, nor was there enough breadsticks. Our food took about 15 minutes and then it took 10 minutes for the guy to even notice that my fiance and I were done with our food. He refilled our water once even though it was obvious we were out and then it took him 10-15 minutes to even pick up the bill from us. From this review you can already tell I did not give him a well deserved tip. I personally will not come back to this Olive Garden.

Decent food.What did I remembe...

Decent food. What did I remember? The olives or I should say the olive plate. They were the best olives I have ever had! How different can they be? The only difference between green olives and black olives is ripeness. Unripe olives are green, whereas fully ripe olives are black. Some are big some are small. Such is life. It has to be how they are cured which in this case seems to be seriously, a warm cinnamon based fluid. Killer! They are so good I'm going by tonight to get take out olives and bring them home and try to pair them with one of my mystery wines in the fridge... The ambience is very nice, warm earth colors mixed with romantic lighting. BUT the music is inappropriate for the restaurant. Kind of like playing "I've got friends in low places" in a 5 star restaurant bad. All the time. How bout Italian music? How novel.. The wine list was impressive. The owner/manager was pretty well informed. Lots of different wines from Italy as well as the standard Calfiornia Whites and Reds.. even a few french. They didn't skimp there. Would I go back? Would they please change the music?

The decor is romantic with it...

The decor is romantic with it's warm aged walls and woodwork. Diners have the option of sitting next to the street on the beautiful covered patio that runs along the front of the building and links the restaurant and lounge area. It's dinner only at this warm Italian restaurant offering a well executed menu. Veal chops and boar chops share space with lamb chops grilled with fragrant rosemary; veal scaloppine perches atop a refreshing salad of peppery arugula. Filling pasta dishes (the huge ricotta-stuffed ravioli is our favorite) are properly prepared crowd-pleasers. Side salads of field greens, or arugula and fennel, are lightly dressed to let the natural flavors shine. We especially appreciate the wine list, heavy with unusual Italian options and several Super Tuscans. Charming, dimly lit rooms in this old house make for a romantic setting conducive to sharing the chocolate mousse for dessert making for an enchanted dining experience.

I have been going to this restaurant since 2007. I love this place. The food is to die for. The owners are super friendly. Its a very low key place, its very romantic. I recomend any one to go and try it out. just dont be in a hurry just it takes a while for the food to be done, but it worth it . I would eat at this place every single day if i had the money and the economy was so bad. the food is pricey but its worth it. i have taken friends, my sisters, my coworkers , and my boyfriend to this place .. everyone loved it . I have been to other italian restaurants and i hated it. everyone is always talking about olive garden and how great it . lets just say olive garden doesnt have anything on this restaurant. i love the lasagna. oh god. its amazing. and the chicken alfredo is amazing as well. i love pasta. and this place has the best pasta in houston. the best italian food in houston. if you have never been here , you have to try it.

I always wanted to try it because from the road I saw a sign that said drive thru pizza by the slice and tons of people outside on weekends eating and drinking. So I thought wow this must be a happenin good place with great pizza. So went in Saturday for just one slice to try. The drive through had cars parked blocking it, was told that since opening they have NEVER opened the drive thru and should take the sign down. The parking lot was full but there was no one inside, it was all workers. I waited 20 minutes for one slice of pizza, then they brought it out and said we lost your ticket did you already pay for this? Yes of course,we are the only ones in here we already paid. I opened the pizza box and it was charred with some burnt bits, sauce was weird tasting, cheese was dried from being overcooked.Very crispy, stale crust. So no, I wont be going there again.Poor service, pizza not up to my expectations :(

Franca's Real Italian Restaurant
Tanya G. rated

Great family atmosphere however the food lacks taste. I ordered the Italian plate and my husband the Eggplant parmigiana. With both plates came a salad, which was the worst presentation and lack of restaurant quality I have ever experienced. Both plates came luke warm. Here's a hint, if the waiter can carry the food plate with his bare hands that's a sign. Our appetizer, calamari, was over cooked. The eggplant parmigiana was good, however the pasta sauce had no flavor. The best thing we were served was the bread. The bread was delicious. My thought process is when I go out to eat and pay$15.00 per plate I expect it to taste better than what I can do at home and that includes appetizer and the salad. Save your money, unless you like bland food. When I think of Italian I think of all the Italian spices and flavors of which I tasted none at Franca's.

Brio Tuscan Grille

I took my family to dinner at Brio’s in Houston. At the end of dinner, I asked the waiter, Jorge N., for a gift certificate in the amount of $130.00. He obliged. When I received my bill, I noted that he had added a 20% tip to the gift certificate. I asked about this and he said they add 20% to all parties of six or more. I countered that it should only include the meal, not the gift certificate. He said that he was told to do it this way by his manager, Alberto C. If this is truly the way they conduct business and treat customers, they have lost my business and all who I can find to tell about this incident. I certainly hope the lost business is worth the $26 they ripped from me. (PS: Waiter and manager names could be inverted. Not sure.)

I can't believe you are closing after so many great years! i love this restaurant. I have gone here ever since the place opened up 13 plus years ago. I asked you, Theresa, last time if you were closing, and you said Oh No! I'm so sad and wish you would change your mind! Even if you do open up, it won't be the same since it will be in a new place. Please hurry and open up and new place with the same great food and great, cozy, intimate service that you have offered over the years. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

This new restaurant has fantastic food at very low prices. My husband and I had the stuffed mushroom appetizer, chicken poblano soup, mixed grilled seafood and stuff pasta shells. The recipes were all developed by the chef and were fantastic. You should eat there before the prices go up. I feel like they are too low for the quality of the food. They do not have a liquor license yet so you will be offered free wine or you can BYOB. Nice decor and background music too.
