The Kennel At Champions

I believe the owner lives on-site. The place looks very run down. The lobby smelled very bad (bunch of pets, makes sense). My experience was not great. I apologize for the lengthy review, but I feel it paints a picture. My wife and I dropped off our 1-Yr Great Dane (weighs 75-80 lbs), and were welcomed by, "Wow, she is skinny." I'm sure most vets would say our girl could put on more weight, but that she is not malnourished. Our vet said she was the perfect weight for a growing Great Dane puppy. Not too lean, not too big. We told the owner that she didn't love her current food, and that we'd be weening her to a different food. We were quite offended that the owner questioned us as responsible puppy parents continually. The owner didn't ask many questions, just made judgment right away and continued to make sure we knew she was "skinny" with any chance she could. We told the owner that we would bring new food when it arrived (special order from Amazon) and to not mix their food with ours. Food arrived her third day of boarding. We went to get our girl to take her to the park and to drop off the new food. When we got her, her stomach was bloated (she was dirty and had urine on her stomach). We were met with more "skinny" talk and that they didn't know what we were talking about, because she was scarfing down whatever food they put down for her (hmm, not a surprise - pretty sure almost any boarded and bored dog would scarf down food). We were specific in how much food she should be fed, and I believe they may have increased portions to help put some weight on. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. Once we got to the park, our girl wasn't acting normal. She was lethargic, not playing, and moping around. When she went to the bathroom, her stool was a bright yellow color. She's had the same dog food from when she was a puppy. We've only seen discoloration in her stool a handful of times. She then proceeded to vomit what appeared to be about 4-5 cups of food (she eats about 5-6 cups per day). I'll "Add a photo" to Google of this vomit. Her vomit looked like a mix of yellow dog food and our brown dog food. Maybe it was bile that made the discoloration, but the food looked like it was mixed with the kennel's food. The owners said they did not mix the food. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. Still, it was pretty apparent they were feeding her too much food. I can understand if their thought process was we need to put some weight on this dog, but that doesn't happen in one sitting. That's not their call to make either. We decided we weren't big fans of these owners and wanted to take our girl and business elsewhere. We went back to get the remaining food, treats, and toy. Our girl was there 2 1/2 days and we paid $64 which appears ironic considering that I believe their price for 75-80 lb. dogs is $18/night and we were charged for the heavier dog rate of $20/night for our "skinny" girl. Maybe there was a holiday surcharge or something. This was no big deal. A $6 difference wasn't much to fuss about in comparison to our experience. The owner said she was sorry it didn't work out. I told her that we felt like it was rude to question us. Her and her staff said they weren't rude, seemingly referring that I was rude for our girl being "skinny." Apparently the owner's brother is renowned dog trainer and knows a Great Dane breeder that wouldn't approve of our girl's weight. In the end, everyone has their own opinion on everything. We love our girl and do what we believe is best for her. We try and learn all about Great Danes and apply what we learn. I do not believe we did the best thing for our girl by boarding her at Kennel At Champions. They simply did not put us at ease leaving our girl with them. You have a choice when boarding your pets, and this business may be a great spot for you. I think you can do better though. Thanks for your time.

Exceptional Experience

We moved from Ca. 10 mos. ago with our 2 dogs and 1 cat. We travel often and needed to find a boarding facility that we would be comfortable leaving our "kids" in. After touring a number of kennels our vet advised us to see Tiffany's. Apparently they have been in business for almost 40 years and have an outstanding reputation for their experience and level of care. Well we couldn't be happier and either could the kids. They can't wait to get in once they realize where we're going. The love and care they show them is so reassuring for us. One of our dogs has diabetes and we are continually impressed with how well she does when she's there. She has other health issues as well, and Tiffany's is always proactive in making certain she's well taken care of. Our cat thinks she top bannana as well when she's boarding. She has her exercise time and loves laying in the sunshine in the special cattery they have. My dogs get to exercise as well, being they have a beautiful and secure place for them to romp and play. The grounds are beautiful. My westie and schnauzer are both now being groomed by them and I now realize what it means when they say specializing in terriers. What a difference. They won't overbook on the number of boarders they will accept, which reflects on how well they are cared for. Again, 2 thumbs up from someone who did their homework.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

My husband and I have 2 Westies which we were told to take to Tiffany's if we wanted them to be groomed as they should. That was 10 months ago and we can't believe the difference & how consistently wonderful they look. Before we just had them shaved at a grooming parlor, but Tiffany's obviously truly understands this breed, because the difference in their appearance and the quality of their coats is amazing. Not only do they look beautiful, but they actually seem to look forward to going. Also, we just returned from a 3 week vacation and picked up Maggie and Bruce from their 1st stay at Tiffany's. We boarded them elsewhere a year ago and were horrified when we picked them up. What a difference this time. They were happy, healthy and looked wonderful. I've learned that most of their staff have been there for many years and the caring and experience they exhibit speaks volumes. This has now become Maggie and Bruces 2nd home.

Dog Boarding and Grooming Kennel

I recently moved to Houston from Ca. and after visiting a number of other kennels was delighted to discover Tiffany's. The degree of care that was shown to my 2 dogs, Rodney and Wendy, and my cat sprinkles was just extraordinary. We've boarded several times now, and when we pull into the grounds they actually can't wait to run in, where they are welcomed like family. The surroundings are beautiful too, but knowing how well they are being taken care matters the most. I am now having my dogs groomed there as well, and have never been happier with their appearance. Apparently I'm not alone. I've been in there with other customers (one has been a regular with their different generation of dogs for the past 30 years), and it's obvious they feel the same. I don't normally don't give my opinion unless asked but I know how relieved we are to have found a home away from home for our "kids" and I wanted to share it.

Best Boarding in Houston!

I am one of 'those' mothers that treats their dog as their child, and my shih-tzu Lilly is deffinitly my baby. I tried thier boarding this past weekend before I would commit to my Thanksgiving reservation and I was blown away, not only by how wonderful all the staff was to me (I was a nervous wreck) but how well they treated Lilly. The receptionist gave me a tour of the facility, all the day care rooms are upstairs and they were so clean, I never once saw any accidents or smelled any for that matter, each room also had webcams which was really impressing. They showed me where she would be sleeping, and it was spacious and priviate. It was perfect. When I picked up Lilly she was outside playing with all the other small dogs, she was so happy and that made up my mind about Thanksgiving. I HIGHLY recommend them for boarding, and I can't wait to try out their grooming soon also.

Wonderful Care

I can't say enough about Tiffany Kennels and the all around service and caring they have provided my dogs over the past 15 years. We recently lost our oldest-- a 16 year old Standard Poodle named Lucie. We are certain that she would not have made it these past 3 years if we had left her at any other boarding facility. Towards the end she required exceptional care and attention and the experienced staff was able to provide that and more. My work requires I travel frequently and at times for many weeks. I would not have been able to leave in good conscience if I didn't know that my dogs were taken care of to the level I feel they deserve and need. My kids are an extension of the Tiffany Family and that's just the way it is. I'm about to get a new puppy and I'm looking forward to introducing her to her older sisters as well as Tiffany's.

I have been taking my pets to Tiffany Kennels for over 25 years and cannot think of boarding my children anywhere else. I moved to Galveston over 13 years ago, and I still drive them to Tiffany Kennels. I also have several friends here on the island who drive their babies to Tiffany as well. My children are always extremely excited about boarding there and when I pick them up, they are always are clean, rested and I can tell they have been well taken care of. I can just picture my Alex and Gracie lounging around the kennel as if it were a Five Diamond Luxury Resort and being taken care of as if it were. I wouldn't take my children anywhere but Tiffany Kennels. You know the old saying, There's Nothing Like Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I recently returned from an ex...

I recently returned from an extended stay in Europe. Patches and Sammy (my 2 dogs (children to me) never looked so good. They didn't want to leave the kennel and kept pulling me back towards the door to go back in. They were happy, healthy and beautifully groomed. I have friends who recommended Tiffany's who have been going there with their dogs for over 10 years. I thought they were exaggerating about the service and care their dogs had been receiving. I now find myself doing the same thing. Each person who was responsible for their care introduced themselves to me personally. My vet has since told me that they wouldn't take their dogs anywhere else.

Outstanding Boarding @ Grooming Services

We have been customers of Tiffany's for 12 years. The experience & compassion they have allows us to leave our furry kids knowing they are happy and well cared for. We used to show our Scotties but now have their groomers take care of their grooming for us. What a relief it was to find PROFESSIONALS who understand the actual breeds & what their specific confirmation requirements are, rather than having all dogs leave their kennel with a poodle or schnauzer cut. I must have recommended Tiffany's to over 20 of my friends over the years for both boarding & grooming services & we all agree we'd never go anywhere else.

pink eye

we found this boarding kennel online and loved the add. we dicided to boared our beagel / boxer puppy there for 4 days and nights. When we got there to drop her off we were very impressed with how clean it was and how friendly everyone was. Our dog loved it there and was treated with respect and love. They even trimmed her nails for free. We loved the prices and couldnt find a better deal. On the bad note, a day after picking her up she got pink eye. We are assuming that she got it from there. She looked well feed and in good health when we picked her up. she didnt smell and she was very happy to see us.
