The holiday festivities are over, but January doesn't have to be a drag. It's actually the best time to finish projects and organize your life – all while having a little fun.
Casey is a great attorney, and even broke down the legal jargan and explained to me what everything meant in regards to my misdemeanor charge. It was very comforting since I'd never been in trouble before. Well, it was until the one time my father, also an attorney, but of a different sort, was not able to go to my court date with me. Mr. Keirnan didn't even bother to tell me that he wasn't going to show up at the beginning like I had to, even though he had always been there from the start of court before. I sat in the court room for 2 HOURS wondering where my attorney was, and why I couldn't get an answer from him or his office as to what was going on. Finally, my father, who was on vacation, decided to call Casey, and immediately got the answer. He had other court appearances to make as well, and attended those first apparently since my dad wasn't around. By the time Casey made it to the court room, 2.5 hours after the session began, the judge had gone home sick for the day. Since my court date kept getting reset, I had to go a couple more times before it was settled. In that time, I tried to call Mr. Keirnan in regards to my case with a question, but he could never be bothered to return MY calls, only my father's. I guess even though I was his client, he was simply too good to talk to ME. He chose to go through my father, and only took time to make sure I understood what was happening when my father was around. It was all for show. Yes, he did his job, and I have no complaints as to the results. I just don't like the fact that I paid that much money to a man who couldn't even call me back about my case. Now that I am getting my record sealed, I am going through the same BS with a lady in his office who handles Non-Disclosures and Expunctures all the time. I am downright pissed off at this point, and regret ever going to this practice to begin with. Thanks to this lady, my entire life is on hold still because she has yet to file the papers, THREE WEEKS after cashing the check for PAYMENT IN FULL. She knows this also, so I she either does not care, or is incapable of finding out when the right time of day is to file the papers. Not very reassuring for someone who does this kind of thing ALL THE TIME. Technically, I could have had my record sealed two weeks ago, but she can't even call me back at the times SHE says she will call me. I have to hunt her down basically. I could have handled this matter MYSELF and had it all done and over with long ago, in less than the amount of time she requires to manage to get herself to the court when the right person is there.IF YOU HAVE THE NEED FOR A DEFENSE ATTORNEY, YOU'VE ALREADY GOT ENOUGH STRESS TO DEAL WITH. DON'T ADD TO IT BY HIRING ANYONE IN THIS OFFICE, OR THIS ATTORNEY EITHER. They obviously care only about the money the make from their job, not the people they represent!
If there be any doubt in your mind about selecting Mark Bennett to defend you against a legal assault mounted by the federal, state or local judicial systems against your life, liberty or happiness---cast them aside. If you are reading this, you are very likely under such assault. Just know there is only one goal to this assault, and that is to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of guilt or innocence or extenuating circumstance. It is their job. And they like it. And the only thing standing between you and a conviction is your defense attorney, upon whom your fate will utterly depend, so you had better make the right choice. I can personally attest that they don’t come any better than Mark Bennett. Period. He is the best of the best. A lawyer’s lawyer, with compassion, integrity, and a deeply intuitive situational intelligence that enables him to create highly effective strategies and tactics to win your case; he can think within the box, outside the box, and even upend the box if necessary---whatever the situation requires. Not only does he keep up with the very latest developments in federal, state, and local legal standards, practices and laws, his cutting edge commentaries and articles on a wide variety of evolving legal issues help to shape and inform the attitudes and opinions of innumerable practicing lawyers and judges, both locally and nationally. On at least one occasion while in court, he actually had to educate the judge and prosecutor of a change in the law, which as a matter of course led to yet another dismissal. This is a defense attorney that you want at your side.
As a long term client of Joe Mastriano, P.C. and a business owner myself, I can tell you that this firm has always provided timely services and has helped me avoid an audit when my deductions may not have met all the rules. Those of you wanting experienced advice that will help you save money, do a consultation and see for yourself. I highly recommend this firm for all your tax needs.A little story. I owed over 1 million to the IRS for payroll tax. They helped me set up a new corporation and cut the liability in half. I had talked to other attorneys about what can be done. They wanted to file a bankruptcy.I then contacted some of the top Google search results that came up after I typed in "IRS problem help" "tax problem attorney". I found out that many are not even law firms or CPA firms. They are full of sales people who kept asking me for my credit card information promising me results without really understanding my situation. What I really liked about Joe was that he has a low priced in depth meeting where he explains how to deal with the IRS. How to really avoid an audit. He also know every rule to follow to avoid levies. When I called to IRS they were able to confirm that everything he told me was correct. Although, they were quick to try to say they would take care of me and that I didn't need to hire anyone. So, I was confident that I wanted to have Joe Mastriano, P.C. work my case, even though I know several competent attorneys that I've worked with before. If you have any tax issues you have to see this guy. I don't know anyone who spent over 30 years dealing with IRS matters like he has.
Terry & Thweatt is a God sent firm. I suffered severe burns to my stomach when I was eating at a fast food restaurant. I looked up injury attorneys located in the Texas City area and came across Terry & Thweatt, so I called them but was politely informed by Irene, one of the assistants, that their office is located in Houston. Irene continued to get information regarding my injuries and then transferred my call to one of the attorneys, Joseph Terry. I was able to get an appointment that same day. Terry explained the process that we would be involved in and let me know that it can be a long process. Attorney Joseph Terry was patient and answered all my questions + all my girlfriend’s questions and concerns. I decided to give them a try and man am I glad that I did. This firm is by far the most professional and friendly business that I have had to deal with. Not only are they friendly over the phone but in person too. I know that I am not the easiest person to deal with but Irene was persistent, friendly and professional throughout the whole case unlike other places that are only friendly the first time that you come in to sign the contract. I am very happy with the outcome of my case and the services that Terry & Thweatt provided me with. I highly recommend Terry & Thweatt, especially Joseph Terry to anyone that needs a lawyer for injuries that they suffer because he is so knowledgeable and efficient. THANK YOU Joseph Terry and Irene!
Mr. Akers and the Cogdell Law Firm represented me when I was charged with felony theft. I was accused of stealing a bag which contained items belonging to off-duty police officers. A felony conviction of this nature would have prevented me from practicing my chosen career. Due to the gravity of the charges against me, I knew that I needed immediate, proven and effective representation. Mr. Akers began gathering information about my case as soon as we ended our telephone conversation and was up to speed for our first meeting. He laid out the best case scenario as well as worst case scenario and his recommended plan to resolve the charges against me. Cordt and his firm kept me appraised to every step that occurred with my case. They were able to reschedule hearings for me when I was absolutely unable to travel to Harris County for them. Cordt was available to me whenever I needed to get into contact with him. When the prosecution would not budge, Cordt had informed me that he had already been preparing for trial, in case that was the route I chose to take. Ultimately Cordt was able to get the charges against me dismissed, for which I am truly grateful. Requiring a criminal defense attorney means you are already in a stressful and worrying situation. I recommend Cordt Akers to lift some weight off of your shoulders and to guide you through the legal system, returning a favorable outcome.

I hired Mr. H. Brad Parker seven years ago for bankruptcy and he and his office took the time to understand the specifics of my case. The law office of H Brad Parker helped me save my home from foreclosure and fought the creditors that tried to bring additional financial ruin to me. My case was not an easy one and not once did Mr. Parker shun away from the obstacles. He was always ready to fight my case and find a way bring justice. In fact, when my case was discharged some creditors surfaced and tried to falsely collect on a debt. Once again, Mr. Parker was immediately on the case and working toward a favorable result for me.Mr. Parker went the extra mile for my case. He is sincere in his approach and truly cared about the impact of a negative judgment in my case. He seeks justice and is concerned about my future as it relates to my case. My only regret is that I did not find Mr. Parker years earlier when I needed a family lawyer. For any person seeking an honest, sincere, expert lawyer look no further. Mr. Parker’s approach may be different than other lawyers but it is a breath of fresh air. You are not a number when a client at H Brad Parker offices but part of your case legal team.My experience has been so wonderful with the offices of H Brad Parker that I would not consider hiring any other lawyer in the Houston area for my legal needs.
Dr. Mattioli did my sister's LASIK a few years ago and thankfully I was able to find him at his new practice.I've had a consult done at another LASIK location but they weren't as welcoming and thorough as Dr. Mattioli. He sat down and discussed every finding and actually explained it in basic terms from my first consult up until the day of my surgery. His team is outstanding. They specialize in what they do and of course are darn good at it. I rarely leave an office knowing everyone's names or what their personalities are like outside of work, but Laura, Jonah, and Janet make an extra effort to have conversations with you to take the ease out of having a boring eye exam. Can you say team LONGEVITY? They've been with him for over 8 years!Lastly, I have to briefly touch base on his technology for all you tech enthusiasts out there. The practice is fairly new so that also means new equipment and newest laser technology! Your check-in paperwork is completed on an ipad. All of your test data from the eye exams are mapped out on a computer screen so the Dr. can go over and point out what's normal and abnormal within your exam. My LASIK procedure took less than 20 minutes and I was able to see the wall clock for the first time without glasses in 17 years! Thanks Dr. Mattioli - Laura - Janet - Jonah!
“Hello everyone, I want to share my very positive experience that my husband and I have had with Joe Mastriano, PC. In 2012 we had owned a business in North Carolina that unfortunately failed. Our original tax attorney set our business up as a C-Corporation. We are still not sure why we were set up with that tax status. We had a very complicated tax situation especially trying to file a corporate return ourselves. I called Joe Mastriano, PC, they immediately took the time to set up a conference call with a team of Tax Attorneys to better understand our situation. Initially I was assigned an account Manager Sherry O who has been exceptional. She followed up with me weekly about any prior issues and knew how to put my tax fears at ease. Tax attorney Laurel was exceptional as well with her knowledge and research in finding answers to resolve our tax questions and to best meet our needs when completing our Corporate return. Joe Mastriano, PC has also helped with our 1040?s by amending them to reflect our loss from our Corporate return. Joe Mastriano, PC is also affordable and really came through when we were in a tax bind. I strongly recommend Joe Mastriano, PC, especially if your tax situation is complicated!. I'm looking forward to working with Joe and his team for our 2013 returns....Suzy B”
Like previous YP reviews remark, this IS THE PLACE to visit for all your prescription needs. They mostly have their heads down because they are diligently working to get you filled and on your way home. The last 3-4yrs they have went above and beyond what a big chain store could never have done, with all of their unnecessary red tape steps and horrid lines and policies. The staff are helpful and informative while still paying attention to detail and quality of service. You wont see any chit-chat or gossip ongoings here. I have NO CLUE what the negative Google Listing for Hope Pharmacy from that guy is referencing, but every bit of it is total opposite of what everyone experiences at HP, and the review sounds of competition or maybe a disgruntled ex emp or irritated customer. Ckose down randomly on a weekday? NEVER in my 3 yrs there. No phone answering? Again...every time I call...even AFTER CLOSED by half an hour sometimes still, the veteren "J" will pickup. I hope you guys stay around for Eons. No shady medicine practices here, so all you pill mill and fake medical record individuals....move along. They call...verify and keep copies of your documents & check for Dr shopping against database. So don't even waste your/our time in line!!
Physicians and surgeons help to keep people - from infants to the elderly - as healthy as possible. These individuals provide diagnoses and treatments for a wide variety of ailments, and preventative care and early detection for more serious illnesses. Whether you love or hate going to the doctor, the fact is your physician is there to listen to your health concerns, take preventative measures against diseases and advise you on your options for staying in tip-top shape.
In 2013, there were more than 1 million doctors of medicine in the U.S., over 854,000 of which were active. Additionally, in 2012, there were about 18,000 active general surgeons in the country. It's important to know which type of physician or surgeon you need, how to choose the best one, and account for other considerations in order to stay healthy.
Patients can choose from a wide variety of physicians depending on doctor specialty and what problems they are experiencing. Here are a few of the most common types of physicians that you may see in your lifetime:
Your GP is the doctor that you go to for regular checkups, vaccines and to identify health issues. GPs can treat many different illnesses and injuries, from the common cold to a broken arm. If your health requires a second opinion or expert care, the GP will refer you to a specialist who has the skills to focus in on the issue.
Heart attacks and heart disease are some of the most common afflictions seen across the country, making cardiologists important to your long-term health. These physicians specialize in studying and treating the heart and related diseases.
Other than a GP, the dentist is likely the most common physician you'll ever see. These professionals work with the human mouth, ensuring that your teeth and gum health are up to par. Patients typically go to the dentist twice a year.
Dermatologists are focused on skin-related issues and diseases, from skin cancers, to acute acne, eczema, psoriasis, and general cosmetic concerns like aging and scars. Most will also perform annual or semi-annual mole checks to screen for any signs of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.
If you have a number of sinus infections or have had your tonsils taken out, you've likely seen an ENT specialist. ENTs handle ailments related to the ear, nose and throat, often related to taking out tonsils and treating hearing issues.
For many women, their gynecologist and obstetrician are the same person. These professionals work with the female reproductive system to focus on reproductive health, fertility issues, prenatal care, options for new and expectant mothers, neonatal care and childbirth. OB/GYNs can also help in the early detection of breast or cervical cancer.
There are obviously a number of physicians that you can choose from, but how do you know if they're the best choice for you? Here are a few considerations to help you pick a physician:
Look at Your Insurance
Before you get down to the details, you need to verify which doctors are covered by your insurance and whether they are in or out of your carrier's network. Rates may be cheaper if the doc is in network – a doctor can be covered by your insurance but not necessarily in network. Out of network is typically more expensive. Doctors often add and drop plans, so it's important to ensure that your options are compatible with your insurance plan. Doing your homework will help you avoid unexpected expenses.
Check for Board Certification
Your physician should be certified through the American Board of Medical Specialties. Doctors must earn a medical degree from a qualified school, complete three to seven years of residency training, be licensed by a state medical board and pass one or more ABMS exams to be certified.
Examine the Reviews
Reviews of a doctor can reveal a lot about what your experience may be like. People may grade on staff friendliness, availability and effectiveness of treatment. Looking at these evaluations and getting recommendations from family and friends can direct you toward a physician for your needs.
Surgeons can literally hold your life in their hands, and it's important to find the best one that can put you at ease and treat you effectively
You need to feel comfortable with your surgeon. It's important to communicate your concerns and that your surgeon can respond adequately. Surgeons should be willing to go over the details of your procedure and answer any questions that you may have. They must take the time to discuss and address your worries.
If you're going in for surgery, you want someone that knows what they're doing and has a high success rate. Ask how often the surgeon performs this surgery and try to find one that regularly does it. This will give you peace of mind that you're in capable hands.
Your decision on a physician or surgeon can be majorly affected by the insurance plan you have. You may have insurance through employment, your spouse, your parents if you're under 26, or the marketplace if the previous options don't apply to you. It's important to understand how your insurance works to have the full picture of what you'll need to pay for.
Your insurance will have a deductible, which is the amount that you're responsible to pay for covered medical expenses. Some plans have coinsurances, where you must pay a certain percentage of the bill, and insurance will cover the rest. Co-pays state a flat rate for certain services, like paying $20 when you visit your GP or a $100 co-pay for an emergency room visit. Once you reach your out-of-pocket maximum, which will differ if you're an individual or within a family plan, your insurance may pay for 100 percent of covered medical expenses for the rest of the plan year.
If you plan to go to the doctor, need medication or have been recommended for surgery, call your insurance provider or go online to see what your plan covers. You can choose the best doctor for your needs, understand your options and prevent yourself from being blindsided by medical expenses.
Most doctors require a phone call for an appointment, although some may provide online scheduling as well. Be sure to have your insurance card with you when you set an appointment, and to bring it with you to the actual appointment. They need the ID numbers to verify your coverage, and will usually make a copy of the card for their files so you don't have to show it again unless your insurance changes.
When you call, let them know if you're a new patient, as this will require you to complete some paperwork for your first visit. Tell them the reason for your visit, such as your symptoms if you're feeling sick. It's also important to inform them if you have Medicaid and to find out if you need to bring anything to the visit, like current medications or medical records.
From here, the receptionist will likely ask what dates and times work best for you. During your call, it's important to be honest about your symptoms and the reason for your visit. This information will help the doctor treat you and give him or her an idea of what to expect. Your appointment may progress faster as a result, and the doctor can come prepared with a list of options to better care for you.
Doctors see a number of patients in a day, sometimes in 15-minute increments in areas where the physicians are in high demand. This can leave little time for doctors to perform thorough examinations, and they can end up missing certain problem indicators. While some problems, like a cold or flu, can be diagnosed in this time, more complex ailments require attention, which takes up time. Reviews can illuminate which doctors actively spend the necessary time with their patients and which ones are pressed against the clock to meet demand.
Surgery has some more dire risks attached to it, so be sure to talk to your surgeon about the potential issues that can come up as a result of your procedure. If a patient has a reaction to anesthesia, it can cause very serious complications, but this is an uncommon occurrence. Blood clots can be a significant problem after surgery, often caused by inactivity during recovery. Infections, numbness, scarring, swelling and death are all possible, but the likelihood of these issues will vary depending on the type of surgery you're undergoing. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and your risk potential.
Surgery affects people in different ways, but as you begin to emerge from anesthesia, you'll want to alert your nurse to any issues you may have. The nurse will tell you how the procedure went, what effect it will have on your condition, what to expect when you get home and how long it will take to get back to normal. If you start feeling pain, the nurse may give you medication to stop it from getting worse. When possible, it's also advised to move around to avoid blood clots from developing in your legs. This can be as simple as occasionally flexing your knee or rotating your foot.
Some surgeries are outpatient procedures, where people are released the same day. For major surgeries, patients may stay at the hospital for a few days to be monitored and address any concerns before being sent home. Discuss with your surgeon the projected length of the hospital stay and what you need to bring.
Your recovery time and follow-up expectations will vary depending on your procedure. For example, you can be expected to be on your feet within a few days of having your wisdom teeth taken out, but it may be weeks before you have fully recovered from a broken foot or heart-valve surgery. Your surgeon will give you a list of things that you'll need to do during this time, including what medications to take and when you'll be able to get back to work and other activities.
Every surgery will have a follow-up call or appointment to discuss your recovery and allow you to ask any questions about unusual symptoms or changes in your overall health. If you have a major operation, like heart surgery, it's important to make regular checkups with your doctor or a specialist to ensure that everything is normal. Visiting a doctor will help deter infection and verify that everything is healing as expected. These appointments will give you peace of mind about your state of health and ensure that any issues are caught early on.
