If I could give zero stars, I would. The first time I brought one of my children to Dr. Cavallino, the office was in Kenner. My oldest was 3 or so years old and I specifically wanted a pediatric dentist (rather than a family dentist) because she was very nervous and pediatric dentists tend to have more younger child-friendly offices/staff. Boy, was I ever wrong in this case. I felt pressured and guilt-tripped into holding my daughter down for the cleaning while she cried and cried. I vowed never to go back and kept that vow. Until, years later when my youngest needed to be seen, I made an appointment at Bayou Children's Dental Center, not realizing the name of the dentist. My youngest has always had severe anxiety with strangers, as well as separation anxiety. This did not suit this staff, of course. And the scene was the same. A mother wanting her child to get proper care and feeling like she's done something terribly wrong because this dentist is looking at her and her child like they are a huge inconvenience and she has failed as a mother. This time, I have NEVER gone back. And I will keep it that way. I tell everyone I can to avoid this place. If you're going to work with young children, you should expect them to have some anxiety about being seen, whether it's the dental aspect itself or a toddler who's afraid of strangers. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want your child to be traumatized like both of mine were.
Extremely disappointed and distraught about my experience here. Brought my son in for fillings and sealant and he came out traumatized. I asked the lady why didn't anyone come and get me all she could say was that they were already doing the work. My son told me they were holding him down . Even his gogles were on too tight, 1hr after he still had marks on his face. Seems more like all they want was to finish service so they can get the money .
This place was my worse nightmare! I feel so bad for the kids that have to come here and be tortured while their parents sit upfront. I went to the back with my child as it was her first time and she was very nervous. Well dr. Cavallino does not like anxious children or parents who want to comfort their anxious children. My child was crying and moaning bc the assistant cleaning her teeth was going so fast and hard that there was blood flying everywhere! I told her to stop and my daughter was completely traumatized. I told the girl that my child just needed a little explaining of what was happening and to please slow down a bit. She was totally aggravated by this and said to child "either you're going to do it or not!" ontop of that, I was scolded by Ms Cavallino for my parenting style of wanting to comfort my child and she pulled me into her office and told me that I needed to give her permission to "restrain" my child and I should go upfront and let them "do their jobs". Even after I told her we were leaving, she scolded my child in front of me tried to restrain my kid herself to "finish the job"!!! This is what happens at this place!! I got my kid out of there as fast as possible! I could here kids screaming in a room. I cried when I left! Broke my heart and now I just pray the next dentist I can get my child to actually go to will heal some of this trauma.
i bought my son there and they was very rule and they didnt allow me to go back there and he was scare he kept telling us they was hurting him. i will never go back there. they was very mean to him they dont have paitnce with kids,; they wanted tom put him in a jacket to retain him. i also found out they been doing that and they never told me they was doing that. i am very unhappy with this company and i will not sent anybody there.
READ THE FINE PRINT. They will hold you to it later. They are not contracted providers for ANY insurances therefore you pay for the difference between what insurance covers and whatever they choose to charge. They put it in the fine print but go out of their way not to discuss it until it's too late. All of this after they recommended pulling all of my child's teeth when he has no symptoms. I wonder if it could be for the added revenue? They claim to bill insurance companies but the lady who does this was unable to do her job when it came to my insurance company. Our other dentist had no problem. It's a nice facility and I'm sure the dentists are professionals, but otherwise, GO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Will not return, the front staff is very friendly and helpful, but the back office staff are extremely rough with the kids that have anxiety about a dentist office
I have been bringing my kids here for years and this is the best children's dental facility! Most of the time, I don't have to wait too long, and maybe once, I've had to wait longer. But, to give them a bad review for having to wait for 2 hours that ONE time is not fair. I love this place. Flat screen TV's for the kids to watch, Games for the kids to play, VERY clean facility. Also, the assistants and Dr's are great with the kids.
They have been great with both of my children. Very caring and patient.
I couldn't dream of a better experience. They were wonderful with my 4year old
