Iguana Grill

I came here hearing it was a cute place with decent food. The decor is in fact very cute, and we thought we had found a great new place to come for lunch.



However, the service and my interaction with the staff was literally THE WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant.



When we were done I asked in a polite manner to the man taking our dishes if I could speak with the manager, over a question the bartender had not been able to answer about substituting an item. I did not raise my voice, I was not using a mean or rude tone, I was not in fact dissatisfied in any way at that point. This man told me that the manager was "on break." He was immediately defensive and rude without me even saying a single negative thing. When I pressed the matter, now because of his attitude, the story changed to the manager "was not here." He became highly agitated and still, I had not so much as raised my voice. The man then proceeded to accuse me of trying to not pay my bill which was so out of left field I was literally floored. He started yelling and, since the restaurant was mainly empty, the bartender came over to ask what was going on. It was at this point I decided to get my partner back from a phone call they were making outside on the patio, since I felt like he was being overtly aggressive and intimidating to me since I was a young woman. He RAN AFTER ME outside of the restaurant and told me he was going to call the police and make me pay the bill.



Well, I called the police myself, and needless to say I am reporting this person to the Hoover police, BBB, and CoC. Never in my life have I had someone be so blatantly aggressive and down right threatening. Over a $20 tab. This is ridiculous, appalling, and the people in charge of this place should be ashamed of themselves.



Be warned, do not go here! I came home today and immediately started making phone calls. Turns out several people have had complaints about the terrible staff who are aggressive and hostile because of the questionable neighborhoods near the place. I am posting this completely true account on every site, search engine, and blog I can find because this kind of this is inexcusable, and I would hate for someone else to have to go through this.



Shame on you, all of you. Worst experience I have ever had. Plus, the food, is mediocre at best.

Heard about this place from some people from work they said it was as good as any other mex restaurant around. Saturday night decided to give it a try, I ride a bike whenever I can, no I don't have a big loud Harley or a chopper I ride a cruiser. I thought I was dressed appropriately nice pair of cargo shorts tennis shoes, but now the kicker I choose to where a black tee shirt with born free on the front, It was sleeveless not the low hanging see down your side type the type that is hemmed at the shoulders nice looking shirt purchased at Academy. Pulled in the parking lot found a place under the lights as to watch my bike took off my helmet brushed my hair and started to cross the parking lot to the door. Never made it across the lot when what looked like the manger came out the door and said I would not be aloud in because of my shirt, I ask why still standing in the parking lot either he didn't know enough English or couldn't come up with a valid excuse. I honestly believe it was the bike. So to all my brothers and sisters out there who like to ride it seems we are not welcome not on a Saturday night anyway. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. I think if I would have gotten out of my Lexus there would have been no problem.

I normally enjoy coming to this restaurant as it is my "go to" as far as mexican restaurants. Today however, I waited 20 minutes at lunch time and no one took a drink or food order. I finally left because I needed to get some lunch somewhere before I had to be back at work. So disappointed.
