In december me and my husband had to take our beloved pet in to find out why he was in such pain... dr nelson at that time was amazing we even recieved a thinking of you card when we had to put our dog down... now months later I schedule our other dog to be fixed.. the receptionist misinformed me of the cost gave me an entirely wrong number... then just as misfortune would be unexpectdly I have to leave town.. so I called the day before the appt to see if it was ok to have my mother bring him in and they said that was fine... they then gave my mother a hard time when I wasnt there... so the lady I talked to must not have marked my dogs chart letting them know the situation... then im still not home and my mo calls me to tell me the bill is 120$ more than what I was quoted.. so now im dealing with this issue and the one that took me out of town.. so I called to see what was going on and the lady told me id have to speak to the vet.. so dr nelson called me today and immediately started in on me saying that I dont care for my pet because they do a better job than anyone else in the area and their prices reflect that.. claims that his receptionist gave me the correct quote and I had my numbers wrong (I wrote everything down) and that I should please go somewhere else next time because they dont service people who d okmt care enough for their animals...
I was so shocked... this is the same doctor that listened to me cry on the phone when we got the news from our other dog... this is the doctor that made jokes with my 3 year old in the office... I now realize that this doctor doesnt remember me or the loss that my family just had... yet he felt it was ok to accuse someone who is a good pet mommy of being uncaring... to me that means he doesnt care about my pets enough to have me bring them to him anymore.. before this incident I never thought he was pushing for profit.. now I dont know what to think.. although I will say it was unnecessary for him to tell me to not bring my pets back if I didnt care to pay for quality because I wont be back because he doesnt care enough to remember the pet and the owner.

We met Robin about 12 years ago from the Platte River Veterinary Clinic. She is the most professional, caring, and nice vet and also person we have ever known to say the least. We have had a few big problems with our pets over the years and she has been SO NICE to us and treated our pets with loving, kind, compassionate, care. She is always there for us to call and to help us. She is a true Godsend and we are so blessed to know her and have her as our vet and our friend. Thankyou Robin! :)
Platte lake veterinary clinic is the best! I can not recommend them enough. They are very caring, compassionate and understanding. I would recommend them to anyone who has a four legged family member to care for. Dr. Whitney, and now Dr. Nelson, have been caring for our two dogs for going on 10 years now. I wouldn't go anywhere else for the world even though, I live in interlochen and there are many places closer. They are more than worth a little drive!
I love this vet. Dr. Nelson treats me and all my animals with care and consideration. He always has time for my questions and seems very happy to share knowledge with a fellow animal lover. He has gone out of his way on several occasions to copy pages from books or articles that are pertinent to my animals' cases so I can educate myself on current studies as well. The staff are also very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

My family met Dr. Whitney 15 years ago when our dog was hit by a car and she happened to be the vet on call at the clinic that my neighbor took him to (we were at work so our daughter called our neighbor for help). We did not use the vet clinic that she was working for at the time, but we were very happy to have the chance to meet Dr. Whitney and she has been our only Vet every since that time. She managed to save my daughter's best friend and help us keep him alive until the ripe old age of 16 (ten years after he met Robin). Since that time, Robin has helped us through many happy and some very sad incidents with our pets over the years. She has celebrated good times with us and has been a great comfort to us when things went bad with our critters. She has shed tears along with us at the bad times. We raise beagles along with other family dogs, cats, and horses. We also raise hogs and cattle. Dr. Whitney takes care of them all for us and does an excellent job! My oldest daughter, Mandy (the ""kid"" of the dog that first introduced us to Robin) is now 27 years old and getting ready to start active duty as a Navy doctor is leaving for her first duty station in VA in June 2011. She wants to be sure that I get an appointment with Robin to clean her current dog, Luke's teeth and give him a good check-up before she leaves. That is how much Dr. Whitney has made and permanent impression on our family, and that is just one of our kids-there isn't enough time or room to tell the many other stories! She isn't just our vet anymore, she is family to us! She cares so much for her animal patients and their families that she has found her way into our hearts even though at times our pets would beg to differ :)

Recently, I came across the ""Was not happy with her services"" review of Dr. Robin Whitney of the Platte Lake Veterinary Clinic and felt compelled to express MY opinion. I was first recommended to Dr. Whitney by a friend whose opinion I hold in high esteem and I have had very positive interactions with both Dr. Whitney and Dr. Nelson over the past 10+ years. Pets are members of the family in our home and we have adopted strays or older pets with special needs. Both doctors have seen us through the life and death of 2 of our beloved pets, enduring late night phone calls and much emotion with a high degree of care, concern and professionalism. When our dog was diagnosed with cancer, Dr. Whitney followed up our visit with a phone call to give me the most difficult part of the diagnosis. I felt she did this out of concern for how upsetting it woud be to hear everything all at once on the spot and how that may impact my ability to drive home safely (taking into consideration February road conditions as well as my emotional state), as I travel from another county, even though there are plenty of closer options available for veterinary services. Based on our numerous experiences over the years, I wouldn't consider taking my pets elsewhere and would unequivocally recommend this clinic to anyone for the exceptional care of their furry friends as well as respect and concern for their owners!

On August 21, 2009 I noticed my dogs tooth didn't look right ( bottom left in the front) he, likes to chew on sticks, so I assumed he scratched his gums. On August 23 rd. in the evening I noticed all around his tooth was swollen. Thursday August 24th. 8:00 I called to make an appointment with Dr. Robin Whitney. I took my dog (Bear) and my seven year old son with me to the appointment. Dr. Robin Whitney came in the examining room looked at my dogs tooth for ten seconds turned to my seven year and I and said quote "" looks like cancer, the only option is to remove part of his jaw or put him to sleep"". She also stated that removing part of the jaw dose not have a great survival rate, maybe six months. After saying that she proceeded to give him a chest ex ray, heart worm test, and a rabies vaccine.(did not make much sense to me ,you just gave my dog a six month death sentence.) The story goes on but, the point I'm trying to make is I found her to be rude, heartless and a cold person. I love my pets dearly, and no, I do not run them to the vet every time they sneeze so they can run fourteen test to tell me my dog has fleas or allergies. I feed, walk, play with my pets and love them, they are part of our family. Also when speaking with Dr. Robin Whitney I asked about payments ( after the bill had gotten over $400.00 and I paid that!) she said quote ""you should have mentioned that in the the beginning we can hold checks till your next payday"". In closing I am not in any way saying that Robin Whitney is not a a good veterinarian I believe she knows how to treat animals medically but, when it comes to the owners I think maybe she may need some refresher courses or maybe she just needs to retire. I have spoken to several other people, and told them of my experience with Dr. Robin Whitney. They to had a similar experiences with her. I wish I had know before I took my dog there. September 9th. 2009 received a call from Dr. Robin Whitney. Bears test results came back he does not have cancer. All though we are very relieved we are going to have Bear a little longer I can't help but be a little annoyed with Dr. Robin Whitney. For 18 days I spent my time explaining to my son what cancer is, why their is not much that can be done and how they are going to put him to sleep forever. I think maybe next time she (Dr. Robin Whitney) needs to think before she speaks.
