I have been patronizing the Green Papaya on a weekly basis for the last six months. Never once has it disappointed.
The menu is incredibly extensive and offers an amazing variety of dishes. After all my visits, there are still many things I intend to try. As a vegetarian, the aforementioned statement is not something I'm able to say very often. Generally, most restaurants have only a handful of vegetarian options. My options at the Green Papaya are seemingly limitless. Don't worry, there's plenty of meat to be had there as well. My carnivorous roommate loves it too. They have everything from beef and broccoli and oxtail soup to chow mein and pho.
In addition to the food being awesome, it is also ridiculously fast. I don't think I've ever waited more then seven minutes for a dish there. In fact, it's usually less. And yet, the vegetables are always cooked to perfection and the flavors are unbelievably fresh.
The service is fast and refreshingly friendly. I've never had bad service or a mistake in my order. The restaurant is very clean and bright (but not too bright, like a hockey rink). The only aspect that may be a bit amiss is the music, which tends to be better suited for an elevator. All other aspects get an A+.
If you like it hot, I can't reccommend their Thai's spicy tom yum soup enough. It has a complex flavor of fresh lemongrass, cilantro, and lime leaves. The balance of heat and flavor is immaculate--it's very spicy but that doesn't overpower the taste.
The prices are very reasonable. The vast majority of their dishes are under $10. The portions are quite generous. I usually get about two meals out of one of their servings. You can't beat their prices.
All this talk of the Green Papaya has really made me hungry. It's dinner time. Guess where I'm going.
