Hi! My name is Janel. I manage Chop Salon and I am responding to fortunateomen?s review.
We, at Chop, welcome any and all feedback about our services and the salon. Thank you for taking the time to comment. We would like to remedy the situation you described and hope that you will give us the opportunity to make your experience at Chop a positive one.
I believe that all people and organizations experience miscommunication from time to time -- no matter how hard we try to provide excellent customer service.
Sometimes during consultation, there can be a situation where, perhaps, we may not understand one another. The use of pictures or a hair swatch book may be more effective in getting your ideas across. (We have many readily available for you to choose from.) Or in this case, asking a another stylist for his/her opinion might have helped. During consultation it is important to be patient and also not to assume that the other person just ?gets it? if this is the first meeting.
Another great way to solve any challenges that you are facing is to tell us that you are not happy during the service and would prefer something else. If you feel a bit embarrassed about speaking up, we would like you to know that you can privately tell the person at the front desk or ask for the manager without confronting the stylist.
As for the cost issue, our prices are set and are listed on our Web site or on our price menus. We strive to charge a fair amount for our quality work, and the product/s used and time spent. Please check your receipt and you will notice that you were charged less than our starting price for your color service.
When you have a moment, please call me at 585-7400. I look forward to talking to you and to rectifying this situation. It is our goal to have 100% satisfied customers.

I appreciate the salon writing a review in response to my experience and I can only tell you how much it would have been if your sincerity was felt before my service. For some customers like myself, it is not about the money; although it definitely plays a role whether we like it or not, but the service that comes with it. As you pointed out, the service charge was actually less: I appreciate that - thank you. However, the real resolution was why it was less: were they aware of my bad experience?
I am a very amicable person who always enters and leaves with a smile. I did give my stylist the benefit of the doubt hoping that the experience would get better; as any customer would hope. It is unfortunate this was not acknowledged by the salon staff and left to the responsiblity of the customer.

I have been a loyal Chop fan since the beginning! They opened about seven years ago and I followed my stylist there. SInce then, I have had a chance to try out the other stylists every so often for color or for styling depending on my schedule but still being faithful to my true stylist, Kihan. I love that I can just say, ""Do whatever you want!"" and it comes out just perfect for me. From my point of view, Kihan is into the pretty and beautiful cuts, wheras Richie is into edgy, Cathy is the ultimate blowdry & stylist, Mirei is into hip and funky and Janelle is into sultry styles. My suggestion is to ask the girls that book you who is the best in what you want and you will find the person for you. As for me, I have been loyal to Kihan for 19 years!

I heard a lot of positive reviews about this salon, so I was expecting great results. However, a red flag should've went up when my stylist told me she only had 2 years of experience, but I convinced myself that she was probably very talented at cutting hair. For such a highly praised salon I was expecting experienced stylists. I asked for a simple cut - just a trim with a few layers and shorter bangs like Jennifer Love Hewitt. I even gave her a picture! As she cut away at my bangs, I was becoming more and more nervous. At the rate she was going, it seemed as though I wouldn't have any hair left. I finally had to stop her before she cut anymore off. When my hair was finally dried and styled, I looked ridiculous. My hair looked nothing like the picture I gave her. To look somewhat decent, I had to pin my hair back for about 1 1/2 months until my bangs grew a little longer. I'm sure some of the other stylists are great, so my advice is to ask for a stylist that has A LOT of experience.
Chop certainly chopped my hair!

What can I say... Kihan is the BEST Stylist on the island, LA, San Francisco, San Diego and by far the best in the business!!!
His work of art compliments and defines who he is... professional, trendy, stylish and quite handsome!
The price - you're paying for the best and it's well worth every penny! I honestly have flown from San Francisco, LA and San Diego to get my hair done by Kihan at CHOPs!
CHOPs' entire staff are extremely courteous, friendly, knowlegible, professional and as far as the atmosphire goes... it's extremely relaxing and at the same time... it's highly sophisticated!
