The business, which started in his parents' backyard back in 1959 is now the single largest ornamental nursery in the United States, growing more than one and one quarter million plants in fields manicured with Jesuitical zeal. Manuel Diaz Farms has 8,000 ornamental nurseries statewide growing millions of trees and plants. More than 15 varieties of palms are grown extensively in the south Miami farm alone. A fleet of 18-wheel transports keeps the busy 7-day-week schedule running. State-of-the-art augers capable of opening 40 pits an hour deliver the speed and efficiency that Manuel's large-scale developer clients require.
