Pastrami is one of those things that I have grown to expect to be the same...or at least relatively so no matter where I go. It tends to be a little too salty, a little too sinewy. Then Oinkster shows up and RUINS PASTRAMI FOR ME! Actually it ruins pastrami for everyone else. I think they were on the food network. THey cure their own pastrami and make, among other things, the Oinkster sandwich - gruyere cheese, dressing....the pastrami is tender and juicy and NOT overwhelmingly salty. I urge you to order this sandwich with some belgian fries. I was amazed at how AMAZING something pedestrian and boring like pastrami could taste, you will too!

From Business: Not quite like Southern BBQ rib shacks nor traditional Filipino fiesta food. This is BBQ born from the backyards of Southern California boogies. 50% Mom. 50% Pop.…
Sometimes you want the real deal. This is the place! Get the Korean bbq combo and have them cook it at your table on the ceramic grill. The place is packed at night with locals who enjoy real Korean food. Service is great. The environment is casual and after chowing down you're left with a very very reasonable bill. It's real and it's a deal! Check it out. They have valet parking but you can also park on Western but mind the meters.
Small place but always full and the waiting time during lunch/dinner is about 30 mins. but it is worth the wait. For only $10 you'll have the basic meat selections. Don't forget to order the side dishes - especially their leafy green sald and potato salad which is quite sweet and mellow. Downside of this place is you'll smell like Korean BBQ once you leave the place (they should probably install more exhaust fans).
Not bad for Lunch. I checked in 11:45 a.m. on a Friday yep long line, waited about 10-15 mintutes.they have a good selection of food and the workers were friendly. They make a pretty good cheeseburger. cooked right, juicy and fresh - 8 out of 10.fries not so good - 4 out of 10. I really liked sitting out on the patio, and the wait was not real long for the food - another 10 mintues.. I will be back.
Really cute, local place. Not a huge selection, but everything is delicious! Great selection of beers. Better pricing and food than Oinkster's in Eagle Rock, which I think has become over-hyped. There's also a barn playset for the kids that my daughter just loves to play with when we're there. Parking is limited and location to be desired (next to a liquor store), but we go for the food!
They rebranded - though it's still Sam Woo, the signage says Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant. Although the place is small,a bit cramped, the food is really good and reasonably priced. Just like the Sam Woo at San Diego, only cash transactions are accepted here. You have to try their crispy fried noodles (house special) and sweet sour pork. Service is quick and staff is very accomodating.
Cool and happening. Was there for lunch and while there's only a limited number of vegan items, I enjoyed my lunch of garden salad and fries. Absolute plus is the outside area with lots of tables. This is a friendly place with reasonable prices. My lunch partner raved about the pastrami sandwich.Glad we went early for lunch as the place was filling up fast around noon.
I love this place and have been coming here since they opened. It is where hip meets BBQ - cool place where you can enjoy dinner with friends (food is served family style) or watch a game (they have few TVs over bar area). I typically opt for rib tips/brisket/corn bread/pickles and collard greens. Check it out, you will like it!
This little bbq joint on Eagle Rock Blvd is spot-on. No reservation needed... order at the counter. We usually just get a tray o'meat and some sides, and it's all tasty (and I'm from the Midwest, so I'm picky about my 'cue). They serve beer here and usually have great tunes on. Family-friendly.
First time I visited this spot, the staff had to deal with a neighborhood drunk who wouldn't leave, and they handled it admirably. These are good people. The food was also outstanding. Brisket was full of love. Mac was decadent. Beer selection was serviceable. Need to go back here soon.
