- At Dunrovin, we not only cater to those who love to fish, hunt, snowmobile & ice fish, but to the entire family! Great news... We are open all year round! Blackduck Lake has some of the best walleye & jumbo perch fishing in Minnesota! Our cabins are located at Dunrovin Resort on the north shores of Blackduck Lake. Our affordable, family & pet friendly resort has many things to offer. Inside our lodge we have a game area, small convenience store with everything from bait to treats! Free outside activities include: Water Trampoline, canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, sandy beach, sand volleyball & tether ball, playground, new basketball court & shallow swim area. Our level grounds make it easy and safe for the young & young at heart to get around! Each fully furnished cabin also comes with a BBQ grill, picnic table & campfire bowl. Due to MN laws, we can not allow firewood to be brought onto the resort for burning, unless it is certified. We sell certified firewood. We also have rentals of boat & motor, pontoon, ice houses & sleeper ice houses. Fall brings various types of hunting: duck, grouse & deer, with thousands of acres of state & federal land just minutes away! In the winter we offer plowed roads out onto the lake. There are also groomed snowmobile trails right outside our door! So it doesn't matter when you want to get away, there's always something to do! Booked a three night stay over the phone after was told it is worth the drive. Well it did not worth the 4 hour drive from the cities. Cabin was super small which wold have been fine but with no ac it felt like an incubator. They did offer window ac for $10 a day charge. On the second day it rained all day so we drove to Bemidji and saw a zoo of some sort which was probably the best thing of the whole trip. There is absolutely nothing to do around the "resort" . Only two of the cabins have trees for shade in front, the rest are under the sun all day long, you are either in the cabin with no ac or outside under the heat, your choice. There is no sandy beach, just shallow weedy water with two long docks and few boats that are available to rent. I did rent one half day with my 4 year old to go fishing (catch nothing) but that's probably our fault:). He wanted to fish off the dock but the owners kids were swimming all day there so fishing was not possible. I even overheard them saying to my kid that they are swimming there and he can not fish there or he will die.....
I mean I know they are just kids but still, not acceptable. Overall cabins are small, smelly and not taken care of properly. I do get it, it's a cabin and you go there to disconnect from real life but still, there are things that are a must, especially when you travel like us, two kids and a pregnant wife.
I wouldn't go back or recommend this place. There are way better choices that are a lot closer to the cities in MN.
