To start, I'm a bit surprised that for the volume of business that this company does that there are only 8 reviews. On both the day we picked up and the day we dropped off, business was booming for them with RVs coming in and out. I don't doubt any of the reviews on here, positive or negative, but I'd say there definitely aren't enough total reviews for this to be a representative sampling. This company should really encourage more of their customers to write reviews. That being said, I'll share my experience (which was overall very good). We rented at the last minute in late August and found Clippership because it was one of the only places that had an RV available. Immediately, we were pretty sure we were getting the last remaining crappy RV in all of Alaska. The booking process was pretty easy - my girlfriend handled that part. I'm pretty sure she called Clippership a dozen times to ask various questions (it was our first RV experience) and they were always pleasant in answering her questions. Ashley in particular was very helpful. When we landed at the airport, it was about a 20 minute wait to get the free shuttle. The driver was friendly and informative. When we got to the rental lot, there was some minor confusion as they thought we weren't arriving until later in the day. We were afraid this would cause a multi-hour delay for us, but wasn't a problem - they had our RV ready for us fairly soon after arrival. We met Ashley in person, and she was very honest with us about what we needed and didn't need to add as extra packages. We never felt like we got an upsell. The RV itself was in good shape internally and externally. It was definitely an "older" model, but everything was in working order. They gave us a quick orientation, after which we probably still looked pretty confused. So they gave us another one and made sure we felt fully comfortable before heading out. Our first trip was to the nearby Walmart to stock up on supplies, and then we drove back to the RV lot to spend the night there and get acclimated before starting our full adventure the next morning.Throughout the trip the RV handled just fine - I think we used every system at least once (generator, fridge, stove, A/C, heater, bathroom, etc.) and it worked just fine. When filled the propane at a gas station before returning the RV. When we got back to the lot, we still needed some time to pack our things and fully vacate the vehicle, and the staff was very accommodating. Then the shuttle dropped us off at a local hotel so we could finish the remainder of our vacation. After the vacation, it definitely took a full 10 days to get the $500 deposit back, which seems a bit long, but they state exactly that at the beginning of the rental so I can't really complain. Based on our experience, I would definitely recommend Clippership and use them again. 5 stars for a smooth process throughout and an RV that worked exactly as expected.

The only positive feedback I have about clippership is about a gentleman by the name of Salem. Everyone else at the company and in the office is terrible and have no personalities. I had rented a 21 foot RV 2017 had 4K miles on it when we picked it up. Ourfirst pit stop we used the sink and noticed Water leaking out the back of the RV from the grey Water pipe. I noticed a large hole in the pipe which no rock or debree could have possibly done. I hadn't back the RV up at all so I definitely didnt hit anything. I notified clippership right away to make them aware and let them know I'd be coming back through anchorage in 2 days if they would fix it and be ready for us. I emailed pictures and again called the morning of letting them know what time we would arrive. I had the extra $21 a day insurance on the RV thinking something simple like a pvc pipe would be covered. Long story short, they weren't ready for us when we arrived and the mechanic took all of 5 minutes to fix the pipe and they charged us $100. If I had known that I would have gone to a plumbing store and got the pipe, fittings, plumbing glue and fixed it myself. The office staff was nasty and made the poor guy Salem be the mediator because they were cowards and wouldn't tell me to my face. I wish they told me I was being charged befor doing the work.If you do chose to rent from here I highly recommend asking to speak to SALEM and deal with him. He's very professional and curtious. He's an Outstanding young man. I just hope he realizes his worth and leaves clipper ship. Don't bother talking to anyone else because they ar all duds and have no personalities or any knowledge of there polices or vehicles. We ran into many people in our travels and all that had rented from clippership currently or in the past. Each person had nothing but negative things to say. They are a shady company and have no concern for customer service or building relationships with customers. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!
First let me say this is a busy place! Don't let your 1st impression scare you away ( over hearing a couple from Japan say how dirty and ran down the office appeared- book by its cover reminder) it wasn't bad and the folks try to move people into their RV's as fast as humanly possible. Our maiden voyage started with a few hick-ups. Power in the plugs didn't work, a cabinet door poped open and the hindge was broke, and a vent over the bed kept flapping( screws were laying in the screen)Our little Ruby ( we named her) had 104 gently used rental miles on her but engine was solid, Ruby took us over 1600 miles in 7 days. We did have to call the 2nd day after no manual or what if guide had our issues listed. Tyler, whom I spoke with walked us through how to get power to the GFI plugs(breaker kicked) and not to worry about the cabinet door and the vent cover should be ok, if not call them back.Ruby was older but kept us warm and dry. We had full at all the RV parks we stayed in, and she took most of the hills like a champ, trust us no cell service in most of the out skirts we didnt push her, I'm not sure 104 rental miles is like dog years. Our overall experience was good! Now returning Ruby, a lady checked 412 aka Ruby in and said she looks good but I'm not a mechanic??? What does that mean, hmmmm ok so no paper work, your all set your $500 deposit takes about 10 days to be refunded.I found the coment odd but they were pretty informal formal right from the start. On our adventures we met other folks who rented from other RV rentals who seemed to have similar experiences or worse.Ours was not bad, and we enjoyed our adventure. In the end we would rent from Clipper Ship again. I'm sure 412, aka Ruby will be long retired By than but never know!!
B&B RV is Exceptional! From my phone call to Pete 6 months ago till our arrival in Anchorage and the motor home being available for our first nights stay, everything was Perfect! Bob met us early the next morning with the keys. He asked if we needed instructions as to the RV. We said no. The women had questions and needs. Bob promptly opened the storage room and said take what you need. An hour later we were ready for an Adventure of Our Lifetime! Our only regret is that we didn't have longer! Our next trip will be without deadlines! I met Pete when we returned the RV. He and Bob are the laid back kind of people that make doing business fun! I was scared in the very beginning because of the ease of our transaction with B&B! I was afraid of being taken for a "RIDE"! As it turned ... Our party of 5 rented a 2014 32' gold coachman bunkhouse class c motorhome from 8/4-8/11. I was pretty nervous about renting from the company after so many terrible reviews, but I can say that I had a great experience from the unit and the company. I did come armed with a long list to check when we did the walkaround before we left the lot (since so many people had probems with equipment), and there were 4 small issues that arose on the trip, but very typical of an rv (we have owned rv's for the last 14 years). The staff, who clearly work hard at what they are doing, were friendly enough, and yes, we did have to wait another hour and a half to get the rv. Remember that the pick up is from 1-6 pm (NOT exactly at 1 pm!!), so be patient, and have a plan to go eat something or walk around in case they are still cleaning the rv. We were able to leave our luggage there, and go get a leisurely lunch. After almost 90 minutes for lunch, we had to wait another 30 minutes, and after going over all of the features, and the walkaround (to check for prior damage) we were off (about 3:30 pm). The rv drove great all the way to Denali Nat'l Park, and we drove all the way down to Seward, Homer and then back to Anchorage easily. The rv provided a great trip for us, as all the hotel/motels I was looking at were $200+ a night, and that is not even renting a car (upwards of $700!!!) We loved our Alaska adventure, and I would recommend renting a newer unit (2014 rv or newer).
I didn't order the RV, my girlfriend did. We called for a shuttle pick up and it was about 30 minutes late. No biggie. While my girlfriend was paperworking I was playing with the company dog. We ended up getting upgraded because our reserved RV was unavailable. I then had to sign some forms since I was also going to be driving. We did the walkaround and noticed a few small things. Once again, no biggie. About a 30 minute delay. We then went to the nearest Walmart to stock up. Things like paper plates, cups, trash bags, and salt and pepper would have been nice. Maybe that's extra. I don't know.RV ran great and our vacation was awesome because of our RV. My only gripe is the RV didn't come equipped with an inverter. We were not staying with hookups and couldn't run the generator all night for my CPAP. Also we were told we could return the RV anytime on our return date. We didn't pay enough attention to our contract that stated a 12pm return time. We had to pay an extra day, but technically we were able to return in anytime we wanted. It was fine though since we had an 11:55pm flight.I would rent from them again.
When we planned our first RV trip to Alaska this year in May, we compared a lot of RV rentals. Finally we decided us for here. The reasons were that the pricing was very evident (no hidden and adding up add-on costs) and also the price was unbeatable cheap. Open questions and concerns were answered by Pete to our satisfaction and he was also very obligeant regarding scheduling an early pick-up of the RV with no extra cost. After arriving in Anchorage we first were a little concerned about the RV (was not the latest model), but it looked good and well maintained. This impression was confirmed during the whole cruise, the RV did really good. Coming closer and closer to the end of our trip we figured that our plan (driving Denali-Anchorage in 5h to arrive there on 11:00am) is not feasible. Talking to Pete in this regards he also was very flexible and obligeant to us (we arrived some hours later). Overall we (2adults + 2children) were very satisfied with them and their customer care!!! So we can definitively recommend Pete and his crew to anybody. Thank you Pete again for everything.
We were visiting family in Valdez. When planning a family 5-day outing to the Kenai we decided to try the RV route to give us flexibility in where we could stay without the need to be at a specif place at a designated time. The 30 foot RV that we rented was a 2002 model that was trouble free and quite comfortable for three adults and two kids 1 & 3 years old. We drove a rental car from Valdez to B&B RV Rental. Left the car at their return lot and had no problems in the well lighted lot. Picked up the kids at Whittier and enjoyed the Kenai. On the way back, we dropped kids off at Whittier to catch the ferry. We continued back to Anchorage and were welcomed by Pete who told us that we were welcome to spend our last night in their lot so we could catch and early flight out. These guys run a really relaxed operation that included lots of amenities (like bedding, dishes etc.) that others charge big time for. Will surely rent from them on the next trip. RV/gas cheaper than hotel route for sure.
We’ve rented RVs/motorhomes from Great Alaskan Holidays four times in the last eight years. We were always pleased with our experience. The online rental process is easy and well thought out. Their customer service can’t be beat. They make it easy to enjoy the last frontier of Alaska. Our first trip with them was the first time we had driven a RV. Their orientation and attention to details gave us the confidence we needed to operate the motorhome safety, to know to use each option and how to use the supplies on board. Their customer focus made that trip and every trip since great. Their RVs have always been ready when they say and are very clean and reliable. We have never had a problem with any of them. The campers we’ve rented have always been that years’ model. The supplies they include and the options are just what you need to enjoy Alaska without worry. I would recommend GAH to anyone considering a trip to Alaska. We’re even considering a fifth RV trip with them in 2014.
Just got back (July 2010)from the best vacation I have ever experienced. The ONLY way to see Alaska is through the windows of an RV! Pete, Bob and the crew did an outstanding job getting us in an excellent RV with everything we needed to make our week a truly memorial time! I will recommend AK Motor Home RV Rentals to everyone I talk to about this trip. We will definably be back up for another tour of Alaska and will be doing it while looking out from one of Pete's RV's! Thanks Pete for providing us with such a great vehicle and all the extra stuff that went with it. The coffee maker, the camping chairs, the fishing poles and the pots and pans where most helpful and just added to the overall enjoyable experience. We drove over 1200 miles in just under 6 days and got to see some of the most gorgeous scenery in all of the Northern Hemisphere. I wish we had at least 2 to 3 more weeks to take it all in. Alaska in a week is a bit ambitious!
