Located in Hillsboro, Mo., the Special Services Cooperative works towards improvement in the appropriate education of children. Began in 1976, it is governed by a board that is comprised of various superintendents of participating member districts. The cooperative provides special education services to low-incidence disabled students. The Special Services Cooperative s services include diagnosis, consultation and segregated classrooms through modified regular education. It also offers a range of related services, such as audiology, augmentative communication, and speech, occupational and physical therapies. The cooperative administers various day treatment and early childhood special education programs. The Special Services Cooperative also offers services for autistic, developmentally delayed, emotionally disturbed, and physically, visually, hearing and health impaired students.
