The West Blount Fire Department is responsible to provide fire prevention and protection services. The department operates a fleet of several engines, tankers and trucks. It specializes in cave rescue, swift water rescue and hazardous material call response services. The West Blount Fire Department conducts fire training and safety education sessions. The department has a staff of more than 35 members. It also operates swift water rescue teams to protect the residents of the state of Alabama. Established in 1981, the West Blount Fire Department has several fire stations. The department handles matters related to advanced life support, high angle and confined space structure, as well as car and wood fires.
