Founded in 1970, The Artists Collective is an interdisciplinary arts and cultural institution that focuses on the cultural and artistic contributions of African Diaspora. Located in Hartford, Conn., the institution primarily serves the low-income Caribbean constituency. It offers a range of programs and training opportunities in the areas of dance, theatre, music and visual arts. Its choreographer s workshop performs traditional African, modern, jazz and tap dance throughout Connecticut. The institution s summer youth employment training program develops work readiness skills. The institution also organizes Christmas parties, student showcases, gospel concerts and visual arts exhibits. Additionally, The Artists Collective offers special programs that serve children with sickle cell anemia.
