Dental Examination
Afterward, Dr. Gary Klein will perform a thorough oral exam where he’ll check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and many other dental issues. Oral cancer claims a life every hour of every day, and the saddest part is that most of those deaths are preventable. With early detection, oral cancer is extremely treatable, but most of the time, people don’t find out till it is too late. To prevent this from happening to you, we will always perform an oral cancer screening during your regular checkup. We’ll examine your gums, lips, tongue, throat, and neck for any signs of the disease, and we’ll guide you on what to do next should we find anything that causes concern.

Teeth Cleaning
When you come in for a preventive checkup, we’ll start by giving you a dental cleaning. For this, one of our skilled hygienists will used specialized tools to break up plaque and tartar that has accumulated on your teeth and gums. Even if you brush your teeth every day, there are still spots you’ll consistently miss, and these cleanings are great for targeting those problem areas.
Fluoride Treatment
Flouride treatment is one of the quickest, easiest, and most effective treatments we have. It uses the power of fluoride to protect your teeth from cavities. Fluoride is actually a naturally occurring element that helps strengthen your teeth by literally giving back the minerals that have been eaten away by plaque. This is why you’ll see it in so many toothpastes and public water sources. Crowns
Dental crowns are restorations used to repair damaged teeth following serious decay or dental damage. They allow our team to repair a tooth instead of removing severely damaged teeth. A crown is formed to fit over the top of a damaged tooth recreating lost tooth structure and sealing out potentially damaging bacteria and plaque to protect and strengthen the tooth. The dental crown is placed over the course of two appointments. During the initial visit, we’ll prepare the tooth by removing damaged structure and shaping the remaining tooth enamel to allow for the additional space taken up by the restoration. Then, we capture an impression that will be used by our lab to craft the custom dental crown. Finally, we place a temporary to protect the prepared teeth until you arrive in our office. When we receive the custom crown from the lab, you’ll return for your second appointment. During this shorter appointment, we simply need to exchange the temporary for a custom dental crown.

Yes! The National Institutes of Health recommends using conservative treatment methods to address TMJ pain before resulting to surgery. In many cases, less invasive therapy options like occlusal splints are able to address the issue without a life-altering jaw surgery that requires extensive recovery. In most cases, surgery to address TMD is only recommend as a last resort.
Tooth Extractions
Treatment for a loose permanent tooth will depend on the reason behind it. If you have gum disease, Dr. Klein may be able to perform scaling and root planing and potentially save the tooth. For other medical conditions, we may refer you to your physician. Keep in mind, however, that tooth extraction may become necessary. In this case, we can talk about your replacement options.
Bone Grafting
In most cases, you’re a candidate for dental implants if you have good oral and general health; however, you’ll still need a thorough consultation to ensure they are right for you. We’ll perform a comprehensive exam to assess your dental health. We will also discuss your medical and lifestyle history to ensure there are minimal risk factors for complications. A CT scan will be taken to allow us to examine your oral structures for any potential issues that might be lingering below the surface, such as infection or bone loss. Based on the results of the examination, you may need additional procedures before your placement surgery, like bone grafting.

If your child’s tooth comes out and either bleeding does not stop or you believe their jaw is damaged, take them to the emergency room first, then our office.
