When Over the Rainbow states they will "tend to your child's basic needs," they're not joking. You can guarantee your child will get his or her diaper changed and meals fed but that's about it. It's not a development center, it's a basic over paid babysitting service. Providing a stimulating environment is non-existent. The environment is filthy, toys aren't cleaned on a regular, ants in the classroom, food left over on the floors, rugs filthy and toys are outdated. I should have known when I toured that it wasn't going to a cleanly place. Especially when I was told on the initial tour from not only the assistant director at the time but also the staff that the toys come from local tag sales. Very unfortunate since you have to pay for a yearly registration fee. For what? Extra money in the directors pocket and nothing towards making improvements for the center. I've walked into my daughter's classroom numerous times with teachers just sitting on the floor while the kids are playing on the opposite side of the room, or when it's story time and the teacher hands the child a book and tells them to sit down and flip through the pages. What happened to caregiver/child interaction? Communication in the center between parent and teacher or even the director/owner is horrible. I have sent numerous emails to the director/owner and at times don't even get a response. I could get a letter faster from Santa than I can with this director. I've been told teachers should give verbal daily updates on my daughters day, which doesn't happen let alone get a hello when I walk into her room. They use an app that you can download on your phone which I've been told by the director, the teachers don't have time to write any type of details about the child's day. How do they not have time when they have 2 hours while the children sleep? All you will receive are excuses. The director/owner is more worried about money in her pocket than the development of your child. Worthless!!
KinderCare in Hamden is not a place you would want to send your child/ren. I had my children attending there and can say I pulled them out due to how horrible management is. The main office people are rude and not trusting. They fired all the excellent teachers and the reasonings are very obscured and I'm surprised someone higher then them doesn't realize the downfall in staff and children since putting these morons in charge. Kindercare use to be a great place and I enjoyed dropping my children off and talking to the teachers but everyday one more would get fired and now i can't say I know any of the staff. Great job Kindercare!!!!!! Keeping the office the way it is now is just taking more money out of your pockets!!
This place doesn't deal well with kids that come from the state. There are some teachers that are just there to collect a check and have problems with kids that are a little more hyper than what they want to deal with. They will fire the good teachers that really care about the kids and just move around the bad teachers to other classrooms. The folks in the office are TERRIBLE and don't know how to manage or properly assess a situation. They will mess up your billing and send home letters regarding the billing even when it's their fault!
