A word of warning. The app and online banking system are faulty. I am routinely unable to login and their is no way to regain access without calling their call center which only operates between 9ish and 5ish. I have been locked out on business trips.
Additionally, their branches have a "down home" feel and don't ask for deposit slips and don't provide a receipt unless you ask. I had two checks entered for up to 200.00 to low which caused a serious embarassment for me having to ask the person to write another check. The bank offered nothing more than an apology...it was their fault.
Finally, when I closed the account, the bank clerk wrote a cashiers check for the leftover balance but forgot to actually close the account. As a result they cleared two online transactions creating a negative balance and a MAJOR hastle with their customer service functions.
I wanted to do business with a local bank but this is NOT the one.
The UMass 5 College Credit Union is a great place to do your all of your banking. I have been a member for over 20 years. Started when I was in school in Amherst and have continued to do my banking by mail since I moved to Eastern Mass. They have very competitive rates and I have always been impressed by how easy it is to work with them. They respond quickly and pleasantly to all inquiries, whether by phone or email. I use them for checking, savings, car and personal loans. They are terrific!
I would say do not go to this bank because you will receive horrible customer service and be subjected to questionable financial practices. Aside from the fact that that customer service will refuse to respond to email or phone-calls and will only help you in person, the bank is poorly ran.
I don't know how many times despite having more than enough money the bank just randomly decided to block a purchase and then have the audacity to FREEZE my card without even a phone-call, in addition the bank has regularly despite promising high interest decided that it has made a "mistake" and deducted interest payments to all high-yield checking accounts! Also unlike normal banks/credit unions UmassFive does not actually check your account for fraud they pay a third party compan in Texas to do it. Which may not be of larger concern to most but your social-security number, address and all other private information is not in hands of another company which UmassFive never bothers to tell you about.
So my advice is don't go here.
