I’m very perplexed by the ratings of this place considering my experience this evening. If you are looking for an honest review this is it. We arrived with the hostesses greeting us but neither the hostess or waitress asked if this was our first time or if there was a special occasion. The waitress serving us this evening was Catherine. She promptly took and prepared our drink orders. However, we waited 20 minutes for her to take our appetizer and entrée order. The house salad costing $8.00 each for two people were nothing spectacular which validated the price. Our salads were brought to the table before our appetizer which wasn’t enthusing. I ordered the New York steak. When I requested a steak knife to eat a 12oz steak, Catherine indicated it’s “European style” and couldn’t accommodate me except with the standard butter knife already at the table. My wife ordered the pan seared chicken which she felt was o.k. My steak was requested medium well and also was o.k. My daughter ordered one of the pizza’s and could only eat one slice due to how unpleasant it tasted. Catherine could only apologize about the pizza when she delivered the check.
Never once did a manager come by to ask how the meal was for us. Chilli’s did this 3 times while I was eating lunch earlier today. The appetizer we finished and the associated plates stayed with us at the table throughout the entire meal. We had finished the entrée for 20 minutes while we waited for the plates to be removed. Then we were boldly asked by Catherine if we would like dessert. After declining dessert we received and paid for the $128 dollar bill and as we left out the front door the elderly hostess only stared at the front of her computer screen never once looking up to say, ‘thank you for coming or have a good evening’. It’s my conclusion the good reviews posted on this restaurant are not only false but scandalous. I wasted 3 hours of my life which I will not get back. Save yourself some time and spend a few more dollars and go to Del Frisco’s or Shanahan’s where they value and respect their customers. You could also go to Village Tavern in Broomfield, Colorado for half the price and receive exponential quality per dollar compared with the dollar spent at this place.
Go there !
The elegant ambient combined with the food and service
is outstanding and provides me with every visit a memorable
time.

Provided by CitysearchWe went to enjoy happy hour. We ordered wine and beer...which we believed to be on the happy hour menu. We ordered two pizza's. I questioned the server about the ""duck"" pizza to make sure it was not spicy. She said it was on the sweet side, not spicy. My husband ordered the ""Margharita"" pizza. At the same time we ordered the pizza, we ordered another drink.
The pizza's were brought to the table. Fifteen to twenty minutes later, the server never came to check on us. We needed our drinks, tableware, salt and pepper,....
I tasted the ""duck"" pizza and it was quite spicy.
My husband ate a pizza which had absolutely no flavor...salt and pepper would have helped. It was cold by the time sal t& pepper finally arrived. The place was NOT BUSY..no excuse!
The manager did come over and he did comp the ""duck"" pizza. (($10.00) He did let me select another appetizer ($7.00) which he also comp'd. Now the wine which I believed to be on happy hour based on the bartender's explanation..was $4 off at happy hour...well
we were charged $8 per glass....and we were told that
imparticular wine was not on happy hour. This is after I ordered another glass because it was on happy hour.
The service was terrible and the food was terrible. The wine was very good....though you can buy a bottle for $10....they charge $8 a glass even at happy hour.
Would not ever go back!!!!!

Provided by CitysearchThe food was just delicious. I had the Jumbo Scallops best I've tasted in a long time! The wine selection was better than expected and reasonably priced and the service was very good as well!

Provided by CitysearchChinook's atmosphere was whimsical grandma-like clutter. The menu was limited and the food just ok. Overall, it was just blah.

Provided by CitysearchWent there last night for a nice night out with my girlfriend. The food was excellent and delicious. The service wasn't bad, however considering with wine I am spending $200+ on dinner and wine for two I'd expect a little better service and a server who was a lot more friendly and upbeat.
Wasn't the romantic place I was hoping for, but wasn't bad either. The crowd tended to be a lot older, possibly because it was a Thursday night, not a Friday or Saturday. Overall terrific food, and a great place to go eat. Waitresses just need to cheer up and be more upbeat.

Provided by CitysearchBeing able to sit in the bar area on a busy weekend night is usually unheard of! The Chinook Tavern had a large community table in the bar that was perfect for me and my girlfriends. The Wasabi crusted halibut was amazing! The bartender, Christopher even came out from behind the bar to wait on us and I haven't had such great service in a long time. We had a great time and are thinking of making it a regular stop for the ""Wild Women""!!

Provided by CitysearchMy fiance and I popped into the Chinook, famished. I've lived in Denver all my life, and never heard the place mentioned. We were initially pleased by the relaxed and warm atmosphere, but the charm began to wear off after sitting unattended for about ten minutes. When at last our server sped by, we blurted out a request for mussels and a glass of wine. My pinot arrived, and I found it very palatable. Another server dropped off the steamed mussels. They were ice-cold and about the size of houseflies. We endured. We were very hungry. My fair companion ordered the liver, and I ordered a filet. The entrees arrived and my Fiance found hers satisfactory. My filet was criss-crossed by thick strata of gristly tendon. I think a $30 steak should cut easily, but I really had to lean into it. I gave up and sent it back, in a friendly and casual tone. I asked for a 1/2 portion of liver in exchange, and told the server it wasn't a big deal. My fiance finished her meal, and 20 minutes passed. I decided it was time to write this one off - we headed for the hostess' station and asked for the check. I was presented a bill by the manager, which included the cost of the meat I had sent back as inedible. He became quite strident when I suggested that I was not about to pay for the low-grade beef that I had left virtually untouched. Accustomed to professionals who take things like this in stride, I was shocked and amazed as he began to argue and berate me for not enjoying the miserable, overpriced fare. I insisted that I just wanted to pay for what we had consumed - I wasn't looking for a comp, I just wanted to go home and have a sandwich. The owner was visibly enraged, shaking his head and muttering. Just being located in Cherry Creek doesn't cut it. Some people still insist on service and quality. Next week we're going back to Prime 121, where the prices are comparable, the service is impeccable, and the kitchen doesn't release sub-par filet...

Provided by CitysearchYa, I heard that coment, winning an American award with German food.... Well, true enough, there is a German tone here, but a pretty good American meal can be found at this Cherry Creek cornerstone. My wife loves to go here with her 2 for 1 birthday deal they send you if you become a member of their mailing. She loves the sausage and potato appitizer which is plenty for her meal. I then try something different every visit. The only meal I wasnt crazy about was a German dish. Since, I have found plenty of other good choices. I'm not knocking the German dishes, I see others really enjoying them, they are just not my thing. Too sour, I think. If they look here..... try some rabbit dishes....Deserts are nice and the service is just fine. Parking is a scam these days in Cherry Creek, but it seems to be the way of lots of places. Go for it. Try parking over at the mall. Shop a little, go for a nice walk, have a nice meal, walk some more.

Provided by CitysearchOur family decided to try something different this year so we spent our Thanksgiving holiday having dinner at Chinook Tavern - one of our favorite restaurants. It was another wonderful experience. The restaurant was very welcoming and warm. Everyone made you feel special. Our waitperson was attentive and very knowledgeable about the restuarant, the food and the wine. The food was delicious especially since they added a turkey dinner in honor of Thanksgiving! What a treat! We will definitely come back and spend other holidays at this lovely restaurant.

Provided by CitysearchAfter several years I returned to the Chinnook Tavern hoping for a nice dinner, but was once again disappointed. The ambiance is quite good, even though the tables are too close together and infringe a bit onto your personal space. The food was quite good, but far from excellent, yet overpriced. But what really put a big damper on the evening was the service (or lack thereof). The waitress seemed to be almost annoyed to be at work. It took her forever to take our order, and then brought the wrong beverages. No apologies, no smile, no interest in the customer whatsoever. On top of it they charged us $1.00 for a parking token, which I feel should be complementary for a $100 dinner tab for two. Now I remember why I haven't been to the Chinnok in several years....

Provided by CitysearchI take my clients here whenever I need to impress, and Chinook never disappoints. Since I work nearby, this is the most convenient and tasty way to keep my clients happy. Schnitzel, sausage, it's all very good.

Provided by CitysearchI travel frequently, and this restaraunt out-does them all! What a magnificent suprise you will encounter in Cherry Creek when you find it! Great Food, Great Service, Great Bar (I am now a frequent member of the bar scene. LOL), Great People (Even the patrons who frequent Chinook Tavern are great). I can't say enough. Chef Marcus does an excellent job and I look forward to both his daily lunch and dinner specials. Don't miss out on this place. Bring a date or bring your friends and you will have a great time. The atmosphere and ambience are tops. Great job Chinook Tavern
