Piggly Wiggly

I worked at the Piggly Wiggly, store 79 in Greenwood, SC, for 10 or12 weeks. I was so excited about finding a job that I overlooked the rude co-workers. I worked in the Deli/Bakery. I had never worked in a deli so I had to learn everything. Some of the women would go around mumbling under their breath about how awful I was doing or that I didn't know what I was doing. And the profanity was unreal. Every one of them cursed and loudly for the customers to hear. If I did something one of them didn't like, I would get screamed at with many ugly 4 letters words. Many times the customers heard these tantrums. If I put a towel on the sink counter, one girl would go nuts because the towel was let on the counter, not hurting a thing. I felt like I was walking on eggshells the majority of the time. I felt like just about all of the women in the Deli were against me. I found out right before I quit that all of them were talking about me and what an awful job I was doing. I felt like I worked just as hard as all of the rest. I usually worked in the evenings doing the clean up, 3-9pm. During those 6 hours, I did not sit down and read a newspaper like some of the others, or stand around and tap my foot waiting for the time to go by, or run hide in the bathroom and smoke cigarettes. I never took a break, not even 15 minutes. The only time I took a break was when I worked 8 hrs and got a 30 minute break. I do believe that working at this Piggly Wiggly was the worst place I have ever worked. The people were rude and inconsiderate, backstabbing, two-faced, not to mention liars and thieves. The job itself was not too bad but the people ruined it all. I am sharing my experience with many people who are thinking about shopping or working there.
