Connie Maxwell Children's Home

Living in Orangeburg, from the time it was Brookland Boys Plantation, til it joined with Connie Maxwell Children's Home, my family & my churches have been involved in supporting the home financially, spiritually, physically, & emotionally. It is a crying shame that just because someone waves $2 million dollars in the committee's face to build a New facility in Charleston, rather than repairing things needed on the 2nd largest campus in Orangeburg, they are turning their backs on Orangeburg's 55 years of service to the many children who went in and out of Brookland. The need is greater in our socio-economically depressed county, where children of color, if needing services will be "shipped" off from their home area to a facility that may be state of the art (ie. Sterile), but will be lacking home imenities & easy access to the children by their parents, family, & friends. Shameful!
