Again, like another reviewer mentioned, I wished I read the reviews before going there. I just thought there is no way any braider worth their salt could mess up simple box braids, right? Well, I was wrong. When I asked them to redo a couple of braids that were not what I had requested, the owner got rude, made threatening remarks and gestures and refused to redo the braids. I had to pay $180 for hair that was not the look I requested. Such a racket!
Original from Rocky Mount, been in this are for 3 years. Said that I would never go back again to Africian braiding again...well I was referring basically to Rocky Mount. Went to Flores had a great experience. Had hair loss due to surgery and was very short in some areas. The young lady was able to pick short hair up, small micro, and she took her time. They were all the same size. Oh boy, I am glad that I went to Flores. Going back end of July to redo three rows. A fantastic job....got many compliments.
The best eyelashes I have ever had!! Definitely coming back to get them done again, I got so many compliments after getting these done.
Ok, do not come to this place. Last week I made my daughter an appointment for box braids, 8 am this morning. When we arrive, I find out that are they a person short, but the stylist thought it would be ok. After an hour, the next appointment walks in that the single stylist did not know about, two little girls who need cornrows removed, washed, and redone. The stylist is now in overwhelm mode to the point of tears, so she is calling EVERYONE in her phone that ever held a comb, trying to find help. The owner (who doesn't do hair and works at the prison) and all the other stylists, don't answer or return her calls for help. My daughter and I feel so bad for her, that we start taking down one of the little girls braids, to keep things moving. Now one of the little girls is screaming at the shampoo bowl, like someone is killing her and the poor stylist is doing her best to keep the situation under control. Needless to say everyones, nerves are fried. So after all of this, we start to discuss what would happen if she can't finish everyone today....and then it comes out that the salon policy that you must pay upfront (which we did) but there are no refunds. In my 40+ years on this earth, this has been the most unprofessional, ghetto/ratchet salon I have ever had the misfortune to find. You have been warned….
I wish I had read the reviews first don't go there they are unprofessional unfriendly and rude messed my hair up on purpose and I paid 200 hundred dollars I wish I could post a picture everybody will no how bad you are I will never speak positive about Matys shop ever
Horrible service, not to mention they opened 20 minutes late and didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience. Very unprofessional period. I don't normally do reviews but this is the third time they have done this.
Mary Ellsbury took my over-processed hair and worked her magic, making it beautiful and natural looking again. She took the time to talk to me, really listen to me about what I wanted, then advised me regarding what would work with the shape of my face and natural coloring. I HIGHLY recommend the salon, and more specifically, Ms. Ellsbury! Love, love, LOVE my hair again!
This place is, indeed, horrible. There are no words to describe how awful of a job the woman did for simple cornrows. First off, she kept changing the price. Now, I refused to haggle on my sister's price because I was treating her to a girls day since she has been very busy with children and college. But I felt $80 for simple cornrows with my own hair was a bit much. After getting a total price for both styles, I sat down to get my hair done. I have been relaxer free for over two years. If she didn't know how to work with my hair she should have said so. She started off with my hair dry, she added no moisturizer whatsoever and proceeded to comb through my hair. She was snagging and pulling my hair and when I complained she handed me the comb. I thought fine, I will do it, maybe she is trying not to hurt me. After I finished, all she put on the table was a cheap jar of Jam gel. We used this in high school so I didn't expect to see it in a salon. I did notice that they had few products on the counters where they do the hair so I thought it may have been under the cabinet. She proceeds to cornrow my dry hair and she is snatching and pulling every step of the way. I do expect some discomfort from getting my hair braided. However, I couldn't get close enough to the mirror when she finished to get the best view. I believe she actually pulled my hair out. She talked in French the whole time to her coworker and once she was done with my hair and paid, she never returned. My sister's style took a little while longer as it was more intricate and the woman was more friendly but her style wasn't what we expected either. The braids in the picture she chose were much smaller than what she actually received and the braids were done in two parts (rows that went to the middle of her head and a second set of cornrows below it). Needless to say I doubt they will be in business much longer and I hope they close down. We will not be returning and I advise everyone to skip this place and go elsewhere with a better reputation. This place had no review that we could find so I am hoping this will help others.
I was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I went. I was losing hair and because of their expert services it is growing back. Also they don't believe in having a client waiting for hours and for that I am so greatful.
