I would not recommend purchasing appliances from Cabin Hill Maytag.

Instructed by appliance manufacture to have them service product. After they had set up appointment time, they had re-called to cancel appointment and stated they did not have time on the original appointment day. Called back to reschedule and was told by another employee that they were short staffed because of vacation schedule’s which is understandable but that was never stated on the second call from them canceling their appointment.

Now they are saying they will not come out at all. Good luck if you ever have the need to have service on faulty product.

We had an excellent experience with Cabin Hill Appliances. When our refrigerator started to go, I considered the local box stores. Extended warranty is important to me, an keeping their service internal is also important to a good relationship. I was referred to Cabin Hill and I checked out their website. I sent an e-mail with the model I was interested in. I promptly received a response from Mark, assuring me that he could work within our budget. I explained our situation and our urgency. He made a phone call and with 10 minutes he found us a refrigerator that could be delivered the next day...SOLD!. We decided to go into the store to preview the unit we order. While there, Mark stayed late to talk to us about the refrigerator we ordered. After a little more discussion, we ended up buying two more appliances. It wasn't a sales pitch that sold us, but rather a peaceful confidence that this was a person and a business that we wanted to deal with. The delivery was smooth and seamless. Scott and Jason arrived on time, took the utmost care in bringing in the new appliances and removing the old ones. They protected the floors and were respectful of our home. They set up the refrigerator and the range. I was pleasantly surprised at this level of service and look forward to future purchases. I have already recommended Cabin Hill to our neighbor. Thank you for a great buying experience.

UPDATE:

The Business Response to my earlier review blames my perception of the situation. I'll post here the full exchange so everyone can judge the adequacy of my "perception." First my original, then his response, then my final response, which received no reply. If they really cared about customer service they would have reached out to me personally, but instead silence. _______________________________________________

Hi, Jeff.

Thanks for all of your help. I was at Lowe’s getting some things for the house and they had a deal that I just couldn’t pass up. I got the new Maytag Maxima 6000AW for $850 and the Centennial MEDC 200xw dryer for $425. So I got the 5-year extended warranty, hoses, tax, delivery and installation everything for $1520.

I’m sorry. I just couldn’t pass that up!

Thanks for your time and I wish you all the best.

WFW9550 Whirlpool & 6000 Maytag are identical twins made in the same Clyde, OH Whirlpool factory & they charged you $100 more. The MEDC200 has no sensor. Our FULL PRICE on the warranty is the same price & we do the service, not some 1-800 #! In the end you paid more & got less! Typical of the big box stores, guess they saw you coming. Glad I could help, wish you all the best, especially if you need their service, look up "A & E Factory Service" reviews are all universally bad! We only service what we sell, best of luck!

Dear Jeff,

I have tried my best to be kind and as fully informative as I could be, so that you could know what happened. Of course, I could’ve just cut off communication with you. What you typed here sounds like sour grapes. I wanted the Maytag model and you couldn’t get it for me for that price. Consumer Reports or any other outlet does not seem to rate the Whirlpool washer the same as the Maytag—twins or not. The dryer does have a sensor; I used it to great effect yesterday; it does not have the temperature select. I’m okay with that.

If you treat potential customers the way you’ve just treated me, then you have affirmed my decision.

I’ll surely keep in mind the way you’ve just treated me when I look for another new appliance or when I talk to friends about where to go.

I just don’t think your snarky-ness was warranted.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

It pains me to write this review. I just moved to Western PA and generally appreciate supporting the independent places over the big box stores.

After reading some of the reviews here and exploring several options, I contacted Jeff @ Cabin Hill about a washer and dryer. He was excellent to work with at first, but then our conversations carried on for days with longer lag time between emails and calls. He presented me with several options that pushed my budget or didn't give me the machines I was looking for.

All of this was fine (if not perfect) and part of the normal process of doing business. However, after I decided to take an exceptional deal at another store and emailed Jeff to let him know, I got vitriol, nastiness, and bitterness in response!!! Of course, I didn't have to tell him of my decision, but I wanted him to know about the competition and conclusion of my search.

I just don't understand what it is that a business thinks that it gains from treating people this way. Sometimes you can't provide what a customer wants for the price that he wants it and he goes somewhere else. This is the nature of things!!! Abuse and mockery is unnecessary.

Our fault entirely in this situation, and our sincere apologies to this gentleman for the mishandling of the e-mailed reply. Our staff member's intention was entirely different than the perception it produced. Upon review of our e-mail, I understand this gentleman's position. Perception is reality! It's prompted our company to funnel e-mails through multiple reviews before sending them to our customers so the intended message is conveyed clearly. Again, our sincere apologies for the misunderstanding!

I purchased 4 appliances from Cabin Hill while living in western PA. I always felt like I was treated fair in price and knew that the store stood behind their products. After 12 years (more for some of the appliances) 3 of the 4 appliances are still running thanks to the guys at Cabin Hill. If I liveid in PA, I would not buy appliances anywhere else.

I have purchased a number of appliances from Cabin Hill Maytag. The prices were very reasonable, the products were very good, and the service was excellent. The owner of the store, Mark is one of the most honest individuals I have ever met. He is a great person who meets the customer where they are. He knows everything about the appliance business. I personally believe he has the best appliance store in Western PA.

I have six major appliances in my home which have been purchased over the past eight years. In that time I have had only one service call and it was for a minor problem. Mark is a great businessman and a really good person. His employees are very competent and easy to work with. I find Cabin Hill is a great place to do business.

Terrible

Do not shop here. They will sell you appliances that they do not have. Then they will try to sell you more expensive ones and never take the originals off your credit card. The owner Mark will then tell you that you are a difficult customer when you object.

After a three generations of owners, one thing we've learned is that customer satisfaction must be our first priority and we strive to achieve it with each & every valued customer. Unfortunately, this particular complaint is puzzling & unfamiliar to my staff & I because a credit card refund is a simple swipe of the card and it is illegal to withhold a refund. Second, as a factory store, all merchandise, with the exception of discontinued items which are clearly marked, is available from the factory even when not in our company warehouse. The company phone rings in my office and I am always available & eager to work to solve any and all misunderstandings & challenges that life throws at us!
