Paid deposit & advised of when I'd be able to take possession of a rental property. called tthe day of to confirm but got no reply, moved in that night and called again so I could pay, no amswer. 8am following morning he showed up, while I'd already left for work. Crused at my children and told them we'd have to move the f out if they didn't pay immediately. Left work, met him to pay and was accused of lying about calling him. Showed him on my phone my attempts. Then said I had to pay a late charge because we moved in on the 6th & rent was due by the 5th. The following month, paid on last day of prior month & on the 1st at 8am again, banging on door demanding rent, again cursing at my children, then came back on the 3rd for a repeat performance. The following month, paid before the 5th and again we were subjected to the same harassment. Nephew steps in and advises he'll be handling the properties and gives a PO Box to send payments too for the upcoming month & going forward. On the 2nd I get a call from the nephew, and today being the 3rd, just got another call from him about rent!!! SO, ALL I CAN SAY IS BEWARE & if you don't mind being harassed before the 5th, you'll love renting with them... and BTW sti haven't fixed move-in issues, and only had ONE key to ONE lock but there's 4 locks & 4 deadbolts on this house!
Happy Rentz has the WORST customer service I have ever seen. They are rude over the phone, they were apathetic about my business and they were not at all willing to accommodate my loss when they forgot to get my tent license and told me three days before the event. Do not work with them.
Do not use... Take your money elsewhere! Horrible customer service! The owner lied about my reservation and then rented the bounce house. My sons party is two weeks away... Used them in the past but will never use them again or recommend.
If I had the option to give 0 stars, then that would be the rating for this company and individual. I currently rent from Jeff & John Schwarz, in their Mothers Estate home on Worth St in Asheboro. We moved in 12/18/13, since then we have had light bills totaling $800.00. This company has sent a heating guy out, to put in freon. This has not fixed the problem, I have called numerous times due to the heat not working properly. As I write this, my emergency heat is the ONLY thing that will work and the temperature in my home is 60. We are freezing! I called John Schwarz this morning to let him know that the heat is still not working properly, his response to me was that if I didn't like the way the heat worked, then I could move out. Wow, some landlord! I called Jeff's office and was put on hold and hung up on by his on-call property manager. After John refused to fix the heat, I advised him that in NC it is the landlord's legal responsibility to maintain the heat in a safe and proper working manner, with the heat being able to maintain 65 deg. He said that was mumbo jumbo, I offered to send him a copy of the statute and he laughed. I take lunch break in 4 hours, if I have yet to see or hear from anyone, then at noon, I will be calling the city, as well as my lawyer. These people want you to move out instead of fix things. I asked John what he would do when the next family moved in and dealt with this stuff, he said it wasn't my concern. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the rent on this house is $800 per month. So just for shelter and power, we are paying $1600 a month here. You would think that with that amount of rent, that they would try to keep someone in here. The neighbor has offered to pay half with Jeff and John Schwarz just to keep us in here, but they refuse. These slums will probably try everything they can to give me a run for my money, but that is ok, my lawyer will run their asses through it too. I feel sorry for anyone that rents from these people. They are nice and sweet when your are giving them money, but after that, they treat you and your family like dog crap. Don't say that you weren't warned!
I rented a popcorn popper from them for an event for my daughter at our church. Got it without a problem. During the event however, I head a scream and someone yell "fire". I ran to the area where the popcorn machine was covered with blue electrical arcs and the bin full of popcorn was on fire. I quickly unplugged the machine and put out the fire with an extinguisher. One of the church maintenance staff cleaned it out and pointed to the source of the problem...a short circuit in the popper pan where the electrical cord went into the bottom of the pan. When I took it back, the person who identified himself as Lisa's husband checked it out and said "really...it caught on fire?" He and a couple of other people looked at it, and he said "Lisa will have to work it out with you...I'm just the husband. I will have her call you when she gets in." Well, the husband called back and said that they discussed it and would credit me $106 dollars back instead of the $160 total I paid. I asked why was that all and he said because I used some of the popcorn and bags. I said yes, I used about 20 or so bags, but the rest of the popcorn burned up during the fire. I said the last thing expected from them was for them to nickel and dime me over this...for God's sake, my sister and law was making the popcorn, and she could have died if she was touching the machine when the short circuit happened. He told me I would need to talk with Lisa. I got off the phone and went straight over there. When Lisa asked me if I had been taken care of, I said no, we weren't in agreement with the solution. She told me that she was with another customer and I would have to wait, and I said "sure, no problem". After about 10 minutes, she stopped working with the customer and took me to the back and asked why I disagreed with her offer. I repeated the story and asked if it was right to charge me for popcorn that burned up in her machine. She went into that it was not her fault that there was an electrical problem...that I am trying to put the blame on her. I reiterated that it was the machine that shorted out...not the outlet that it was plugged into. She continued on her chosen path, saying how could I hold her responsible for an electrical malfunction. If I was at home watching tv, and the tv malfunctioned, would I hold someone else responsible. At that point, i was really bewildered at the attitude of this business person with a bible scripture on the wall of the showroom and the Serenity prayer sitting on her desk, and I told her so. That's when she told me that she would contact my church and ask my pastor to pray for her, but who am I to question her Christianity. I replied I wasn't questioning her Christianity, but how she was doing business with obvious Christian scripture in her sales area. Her husband was watching the whole exchange and actually seemed embarassed. At that point, I finally had enough and just said I would chalk it up as a learning experience and know not to use them ever again for personal or business uses. As I walked out the door, in what you might take as some sort of peace offering, she said "Well I will give it some more thought..."So that's my review that I posted for two reasons. One, so you will know the type of business you are dealing with if you decide to use them for your party rental needs. And two, as I drove off after dropping off the popper, I saw the staff looking the popper over, I wondered if they would replace it or rent it out again putting someone else at risk. So ifyou rent a popcorn popper that has a handle missing on one of the doors, beware...it's the same one that could cause you harm.
