We've put together a small list to get you started on your journey -- and the first step starts with a single box.
I've lived in Avalon Trace for three years. I've had good and bad experiences with the complex. I would say overall good, but the bad experiences (although few) are not minor so I had to drop my stars down to 3. Pros: -great price, -great location (I'm a student at A&T and my son is a student at Erwin Montessori, and both are less than a 5 minute drive from my apartment complex), -prompt, friendly, and reliable maintenance team (I LOVE Danny and Russ!! They usually respond to work orders within 24 hours and they know everybody on the property. I never see them slacking. They get the job done! I doubt I'll find another maintenance team as dedicated and reliable as them if I move), -quiet neighborhood (although it's a low-income community, there is very little crime in the complex and very little drama. My neighbors are either foreigners who do not speak much english, older students who are living off-campus, and senior citizens. I have a few younger neighbors who have small families, maybe 1 or 2. The worst that I've experienced consists of the younger people loitering outside their apartment in the late hours of the evening during summer months, but management put a stop to that), -abundant parking and no passes needed, -latest property manager seems to care about making improvements to the community (but it seems like her hands are tied by the property owners and she is unable to make all the changes she wants) Cons: -no curb appeal (the buildings look horrible when you drive up, but inside the apartments look very nice), -constant change in management (in the three years I've been here, we've had three property managers and countless assistant property managers), -no real incentive to be a long-standing resident (every year when it's time to renew my lease they try to jack up my rent by a ridiculous amount, e.g. $40-$50, and I have to fight the rate increase since I've never paid late, and I don't cause any problems), -BUGS (it's an old property and even though my neighbors and I keep very clean houses, we still see bugs. The apartment complex has a contract with a local pest control company who comes out every Monday, but they do not visit every apartment. You have to request a visit from the exterminators. I think they need to have the exterminators visit EVERY apartment once a week and spray for at least 2 months to eliminate the problem, not just give temporary fixes!), -children damaged my property ($2000 worth of damage to my car by my neighbor's children who used it as a drum set, and although I notified the property they did very little to help resolve the issue. In fact, I don't think they did anything that they told me they would do because I never received any of the notices they said they would send out to the residents whose children were involved and there does not seem to have been any repercussions for the incident.) So overall, there were a few issues here, but only a few. Unfortunately, the last two issues are not minor issues and had a large impact on my overall rating. I could have given this place 4 stars, but the bugs and the damage to my personal property by my neighbors caused the complex to lose another star.
I'm originally from Bronx, NY and have been in Greenboro for 12 years. I'm Dominican and Puerto Rican with a lot of long hair(used to be relaxed but now natural)and have struggled to find the right place for me to get my hair done in Greensboro, NC. Well the struggle & search is over!!! I went to Dominican Style on Randleman Rd and have finally found a salon home! Carmen quoted me $50 the day before for a wash/set/layered cut/round brush blow out/ flat iron and conditioner treatment included. Just to give you an idea of what I've been quoted before by others: $40 for roller set *only*-no blow out, nothing-just wash and set. :-/ Yeah-didn't get my hair done at that place. One time I was quoted $60 for wash/set cut and charged $70. Anyway, Carmen worked with delight on my hair! She's so sweet and her salon is an environment that I would feel comfortable bringing my girls to get their hair done-cannot say that about many places, unfortunately. Back to my experience-she worked so hard and joyfully on straightening and styling my hair and also gave me something to help a hair issue that * no one* has ever addressed after I've asked. At the end she asked me how much she quoted me the day before and I told her $50-no surprise at the register, no "well you had more hair and it took more work than expected..." That has happen to me more than once and even without explanation. :( Not fun! This salon far exceeded my expectations! So, if you're looking for a hair salon that's interested in keeping your hair healthy without being surprised at the register, in a family friendly environment-Dominican Style on Randleman Road is the place YOU need to go!! I would encourage you to at least give them a try. I don't think you'll regret it & in fact you might not only leave looking & feeling like a new person but you might leave with new friends! :)
The best club ever! Love the atmosphere and the staff. The club has a great mix and the music is great. When I got to the door the staff greeted me nicely and we even joked for a bit before I went in. They cut the door price for me and though I only planned on staying for and hour or so, I needed up staying the whole night. Reading the reviews of the last two WOMEN on here, it's obvious something else was going on with them when they visited. Reading their reviews they were probably rude at the door themselves and turned away. As one of them said, an establishment has the right to turn away whomever they desire but I'm sure had they carried themselves a little differently they would have been let in. As for the staff? Obviously the lady describing them as nasty is just being bitter about something because the staff are awesome and full of fun and not stuck up! I hate to see ppl bash a place and not tell the truth because they couldn't get their way instead of just moving on to the next club. Thanx Copa rocka, I love your establishment!
This apartment complex is one that I would personally not recommend. I've lived at South Pointe for eight months now and would have to say it's the worst place by far that I've lived in years, and trust me, I've lived in some rough areas. The maintenance is wonderful, absolutely marvelous, a bit slow sometimes, but no repeat calls for the same problems. The management staff is great, however their methods are rather brutish at times. The property is an older property, previously Meadow Run apartments, built in 1973, and remains as a whole, the same today as it was when it was built. There are some rough surrounding neighborhoods which leads to numerous crimes taking place on the property. Stolen cars are dropped off and later picked up by thieves, Apartments are broken into, Numerous drug transfers regularly occur. The apartment complex is in good shape, but the riff-raff remain a constant struggle for management. All in all, I would recommend it if you were either on section 8 or can tolerate the area.
I've been to nail shops, beauty salons, even barber shops none can compare to the precise, clean, fresh look of your brows at the brow lounge. There are I believe 3 women working there I've only experienced Channel. You don't have the "surprised" brow look, or pencil thin crayon look when you are done. No more over plucked overly arched brows. It's a very natural, beauty kinda look. I needed a repair due to a previous stylist over waxing my brows making me look like Ronald McDonald. Channel carefully shaped the brows around the mistake area giving the hair time to return; meanwhile it was filled in to appear full in the missing hair area. I have and will continue to recommend anyone, especially the many of "Ronald McDonald" women I see walking around. It opens your face and gives brightness to your appearance. They also do bikini wax, full & partial eye lashes, lip wax, and a list of many more.
My name is Cynthia K. and my hairstylist at Hairport 77 is Donna Brown, she is the best one there! She always knows my hairstyles I like that she keeps up w/what colors you always use, so she can't be mistaking on them. She's fantastic! The whole shop itself is awesome! They really strive to do their best, it's clean and kid friendly as well. They even have a little boutique inside the shop, where you can shop or just look around while you wait; however, the waiting time is very very minimal! I'm getting ready to move to Raleigh, NC area & believe you me I will still make an appt here at Hairport 77 in Greensboro, NC & will just travel for this, because it's hard to find the best hairstylist around who's personable.
Carlton is the BEST!! I have been going to him for years! I even moved out of the area a few years ago, but I still make the 2 hour trip every 2 months to go see him. I got my best friend going there as well. We always look forward to our trip to Greensboro to see Carlton. We never know what surprise he will try on us next. I fully trust his expert advice and let him do whatever he thinks will look good. (which was cutting off ALL my hair the 1st time I went to him.. and it looked AWESOME!) He is always knowledgable about current trends, styles, and technequies. I would recommend him AS WELL AS his associates to all my friends... and I have! LOYAL CARLTON CLIENT SINCE 2002
I really enjoyed this club because of the atmosphere and the club itself. I think details like the lighting, the sound system, and the furniture can really make or break a club. This club spared no expense when they opened. Best dance floor in Downtown Greensboro. Sound system sounded great. Ambient lighting and flat screen TV's throughout the club really give you the impression that you're in a "real" club (and there aren't many of those around the Triad). The staff was classy and friendly - no bullying bouncers, no obnoxious bar staff - the staff seemed to be having just as good of a time as the guests. I'm glad Allure is open, and I'll definitely be back.
I am so impressed with this Salon! It is always so neat and clean, and you don't often find that in shops these days! My current favorite hairdresser is Rose. Or, as I like to call her, Rose Bud. The name just seems to fit! If you are looking for a short hairdo, this is the lady for you! She does an outstanding job and in a short amount of time. She is so much fun to talk to, as well! I love Rose Bud! Give her a try sometime, but don't take all of her time, because I just might be trying to get an appointment myself! LOL! God bless everyone who works there! They are all great stylists!
It's a clean place, friendly and professional employees. My hair is medium long and natural. I like how a deep conditioner is part of their service, especially since I tend to abuse my hair with irons and certain products. Recommendations are made but you don't "feel" like you're forced to go with their decisions, like some stylists tend to do. The stylist did inform me of things to do at home with my hair as well as recommendations to maintain healthy hair. I also like that they offer beverages while you wait. They really make you feel comfortable and welcome.
