Vintage Corporation

I've been renting from vintage for over a year now, and I'm finally fed up. I'll list my grievances so that you can see how much patience I have, and see if you could last this long.

1. When we applied, the staff was very rude and short with us. My husband doesn't have perfect credit, but I've never had an issue. They treated him like a criminal, and me like I was stupid. I should have known then... but hindsight is 20/20.

2. When winter hit, we discovered one of our rooms doesn't receive heat. It happens to be our daughters room. They fixed it mid may, so that was helpful.

3. Along with the heating issue, we found that a space heater was enough to trip the fuse. Turns out our apartment was wired by some sort of moron. Our entire floor is on the same breaker, and the furnace for the entire complex (3 apartments stacked), would turn off if ours tripped. If that happened after hours, it would take 3-6 hours for a maintenance man to show up to switch the breaker (the box is in another apartment and it's locked).

4.When we first moved in, we were allowed to have dogs. Then we weren't... we didn't receive any notice of this change, so when we adopted a dog and tried to pay pet deposit, we were surprised to find out that we would be evicted.

5. We paid 1 year of rent up front because I had a housing stipend from school. None the less, we received eviction notices almost monthly for unpaid late rent. I've lost my mind trying to figure that one out.

6. Little of our house is up to code. We have an outlet that has room for 5 plugs (was outlawed in the 20s), a sink with a water shut off that can't be turned because of its proximity to the floor (installed appt a month after we moved in), all control of heating for the complex is through our thermostat, the water shut off for our shower is located inside of a heating vent, and our screens are literally screwed into the window frames (fire hazard). We've informed vintage of all of these issues, but to no avail.

7. Every time I walk into the office, I'm treated like a dummy.

8. My tipping point! These people have stolen my patio furniture! We had two lovely chairs for my husband and I, and two mini folding chairs for my children. Our upstairs neighbors who moved out this month (due to an ongoing pigeon infestation in the attic that vintage has done little about), and apparently the cleaning crew decided to take our chairs, ash tray, and a variety of out door items we kept on the porch. Our downstairs neighbor watched them load it into their van!



So, if you want mean, neglectful thieves as your land lords, rent from vintage! If you're sane, go elsewhere. I know I am.
