Dr. Dwight Derisi is a wonderful, kind and thorough doctor. After months of tests, numerous mammography places & other doctors. I finally found Dr. Derisi, he was so gentle and calming. I had to have a surgical biopsy on calcifications, but before he made that decision he had me go to get a steriotactic biopsy at Nassau Radiology (they are also wonderful) , he wanted to be sure that the surgery was 100% necessary before doing it. It was necessary and he and his staff made me feel very calm. The surgery went well and thankfully they came back benign. Dr. Derisi left me with no visible scar. I would recommend him (and have!) to anybody having any sort of breast issues.

I would not recommend Dr. Derisi to my worst enemy. He was recommended to me by my boss (his late wife suffered from breast cancer) for my mother. When my mother met Dr. Derisi he was very charming and nice, but after doing a biopsy on my mother he told her that her breast cancer did not spread. Only to find out that it did and metastasized at a really fast rate. I should have known something was wrong with this man when he constantly operated on my boss wife (every year). Unfortunately, because of his misdiagnosis my mother didn?t get the proper care when she should have and passed away last year at the very young age of 52. To all those that read this review, do you and loved one?s a favor and STAY AWAY from Dr. Derisi.

I read a review that stated Dr. Dwight Derisi was nice, but the wait was a long one. That wait saved my wife's life. Dr. Dwight Derisi is one of the best breast surgeons not only in New York, but in the country.
People travel from all over the New York metropolitan area to see Dr. Derisi even though they may live near a Cancer Center in Manhattan. He has developed a reputation of instinctively knowing how to treat each person with humanity and dignity. His expertize as a surgeon is well respected in the surgical community.
When we received the diagnosis of breast cancer, naturally we wanted a second opinion. Dr. Derisi not only thought it was a good idea, but he sincerely encouraged it and told us that the more information one gets the better. His words: It is your body...not mine. You are entitled to the best treatment you can get.
We went to Dr. David Kinne, formerly chairman at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital and at the time Professor at Columbia University. He operates successfully on my mother. We got all the slides and mammograms for the visit and had them restudied at Columbia P & S.
Dr. Kinne said, ""If you have Dr. Derisi as your doctor you certainly don't need me. He is the finest doctor. One thing: if you have to wait...it is worth it. He works through the night.""
Back to Dr. Derisi.....the office will tell you if they are running behind and tell you to go out and have dinner first and come back later. Derisi takes the time with each patient that he needs and when it is your turn you get the same excellent treatment that everyone else got.
Bottom line: It is over six years and there is no reoccurrence and my wife would travel to New York from Florida, where we now live, to continue seeing Dr. Derisi.
He is a man of compassion, dedication, intelligence, and relates to both the patient and her family in the most friendly and encouraging manner.

Dr. Derisi was very nice and thorough when examining my mother after she received some abnormal results from a mammography. The only problem is that he keeps evening office hours b/c he is in surgery during the day, so he tends to run REALLY late. We had a 9 o'clock appt. and we didn't get in to see him until midnight. BUT he is a very good breast specialist, so he's worth the wait. He is very good at explaining things, and really does take his time with each patient. People come from afar just to be examined by him.
