Shamefully poor handling of personal information that directly affects eligibility for medical services. Disregard of documents, including medical bills. Habitual inaccuracies in recording expenses, income. THIS OFFICE WILL NOT ANSWER PHONES. EVER (they will even tell you that). Lack of regard for the ill, injured, disabled, and cognitively impaired. If you are disabled you will absolutely be required to visit this office in person. For several days, I started calling at five till eight, hitting redial, until the answering service changed. You can spend hours hitting the extension you need, only to have it recycle to the main menu. For the past year, I have never once reached a person by phone. If you have the patience, you can mail them. You may hear back from them, you may not. It all depends on whether they decide to receive you letter, or not. You can fax them. They may or may not receive your fax. They may or may not use the information contained therein, and may or may not act with regard to that information, either accurately or inaccurately.Bringing in my medical bills, other bills, information relating to health and living status, resulted in these documents not even being looked at. Counselor did not turn on her computer or look my file up. She was more interested in just telling me that everything was fine with my case, and that I was ready to go. This was not the case, and has resulted in much confusion, stress, the strain of travel to access medical care that I was now ineligible for, and embarrassment for me with my providers, and in their front offices where this information is commonly discussed. Some counselors appear to not have much in the way of dignity. I thought a couple of them were clients who might not be able to care for themselves well. This is insulting to people who have been robbed of the ability to work and provide for themselves. You may or may not find hand soap and towels in the restrooms.
Very good thank you for your help
I have never witnessed such poor treatment in my life. My little sister needed food assistance for her family of six due to job downsizing. When she filled out the application her caseworker kept sending requests for more information, he wouldn't answer phone calls or return calls. We went to see him in person and we waited for two hours and he still wouldn't see us. We finally tried again and he made many racial remarks. My sister didn't get the assistance she needed for two months. The women at the front desk are extremely rude and belittling. How can tax payers be forced to fund such rude and unhelpful people? How do these people sleep at night?
Not a fan of this place, I know its run by the state of IL. Called once, waited for an hour to talk to a person. That did not work so went to the office, waited in line and was told to wait for the mail. That was 4 months ago. I called the state and they said the application for our 19 yr old's medical is at this office. WHERE??? I have never been treated so poorly and still no yes or no for coverage?
