From the beginning, the focus of AppleTree has always been the children. Every decision we make is based on a single question, "Will this benefit children in a positive way?" Until we can say yes, we keep searching for the solution. AppleTree is a family of owner-operated child care centers based in West Michigan. We provide a safe environment for children ages six weeks to school-age in facilities that feature secure web camera access for parents. Inside and out, our child care program is designed for a positive experience for child and parent alike. The first AppleTree was opened in 1998. The school is located on Monroe Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan and this location is still serving families of Grand Rapids today. Bridgett Tubbs-Carlon, AppleTree founder, opened this location with her husband Doug (1951 - 2007) with the dream of creating a premier child care and early education facility that was not only a safe environment for their daughter, Anna, but could also exceed the expectations of the families it served. Having her own daughter attend the school allowed Bridgett to continually monitor the curriculum and programs. This hands-on approach turned out to be highly advantageous and a definite plus in the eyes of parents. From them on, it was decided that any and all AppleTree centers would be owner-operated. Now 12 strong, AppleTree and its philosophy has given rise to a family of child care centers.
