Opt out of the classroom and jump into a real education in the real world!

General Info

Dear West Michigan Teen;

Traditional schooling isnt for everyone. If its not working for you, opt out of the classroom and jump into a real education in the real world. Whether youre miserable in school or just wish you had more time for the things you love, Open Doors is here to help.

At the Open Doors Center we work with our teen members to create their own independent learning plans. We start with your passions and interests, weaving in tailor-made options like community connections, hands-on experiences, creative projects, and informal classes.  We mentor you throughout the process, adapting your plan as you change and grow.  Homeschooled teens are also welcome to the vibrant community at Open Doors.

Founded in the fall of 2013 and located in Eastown, Grand Rapids, Open Doors is a grassroots organization committed to the local community. Our mission is to empower teens and their families to reclaim the joy of learning.

Get excited again:  not just about learning, but about life!
