General Info
The first Meijer grocery store was opened in Greeneville, Mich., in 1934 with $338.76 worth of merchandise. After opening several local grocery stores over the next 30 years, the company underwent a transformation in 1962 when it opened its first Meijer Thrifty Acres location, a food and general merchandise store, which many consider the birth of the one-stop shopping center. Meijer s stores have since grown into superstores, which feature more than 40 departments, such as electronics, outdoor living, toys, home and workshop. With its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Mich., the company has more than 150 stores throughout the Midwest, including one in Grand Rapids, Mich. Each store is open 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, closing only for Christmas. Each store also features a pharmacy and a film-processing center.

From the moment we walked in the door, the store looked like a train wreck! Came in for a few items including red potatoes and 1 gallon bottle of white vinegar. Store was out of both! No one seamed to care or want to help. I'm new in the area and was looking for a friendly, helpful grocery store. This store failed on both! Maybe my neighborhood D&W will be more accommodating and helpful!

This trip Meijer earned a failing grade!

Harassment at Meijer on 28th st – Apparently Meijer on 28th is screening folks that look a little different – having tattoos or whatnot - because while leaving Meijer last night my fiancé and I were stopped by some Meijer security guy and told that he had to check out receipts and bags (keep in mind this is before we got through the doors and no door alarm was activated). I did not see anyone’s bags being checked before or after ours. I asked him “are you doing this to everyone now?” and he said “no that would be impossible” so obviously we were singled out. I keep thinking “what if I had purchased some personal items that I would not have been comfortable with him shuffling through?!” Wont be going back again!!

I love shopping at this Meijer, it's so conveniently located. The employees are always helpful in finding whatever I need, or with returns. I do the majority of my shopping there. Great Service!
