My son and friends came in from out of town to participate in a scavenger hunt that was sponsored by Premier Skate Shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 21, 2013 (National Skate Board Day). All of them got their boards confiscated and each fined $100.00 by the Grand Rapids Police Department when they were riding to get the clues and the prizes for the competition. I was told by the Premier Skate Shop customer Service Representative “Ryan”, that they did not get a permit or the city fathers approval for the event. Their lack of event organization cost their customers and scavenger hunt participant’s money and time out of their lives that they are not ever getting back. Ryan said that it wasn't their fault and that the, “ticket thing happens”. Really? Premier skate Shop sponsors an event, doesn’t tell the out of town participants that it's illegal to ride their boards in the area and then sends them out on a scavenger hunt and they get fined $100.00 each and their boards confiscated and none of it is your responsibility? My thought is not to buy from this company, if they can’t see how this was their responsibility I am betting that they will dodge responsibility on things they build, repair and sell. I wouldn't recommend this shop on the bases of being poor event organizers, a lack of business integrity and simply not concerned about their customers.
