I recently acquired a new home using Members First Morgage. Joe and Paige are awesome! They got me a great interest rate, I got what I was quoted and then some. Absolutely would recommend these great folks. Professional, extremely courteous and no false promises. My credit wasn't great so I had to fix a few things, but they helped us every step of the way. Zero stars if possible. - Absolutely THE WORST bank i have ever used. I had a loan and a savings account through them and when i paid off the loan i asked if i needed to close the account too so that i would avoid getting any charges. Their response was no, you should in fact leave it open so that if you ever want a loan it will be easier for you. In the mean time i had moved and forgot to change my address on what was supposed to be a dormant account. They then started charging me $2 every time they sent me a letter through the snail mail. Even worse, they didn't notify me until my account was in the negative. Then on a phone call with Mike, started threatening me saying they would keep charging me until i came into the branch to change my address (because apparently they cant do that over the phone or even on a website). And if i didnt do it promptly they would turn me in to a collection agency. I cant believe the unprofessional-ism i got when i called and the complete lack of respect i received. I will NEVER be banking with them again and I will be voicing my opinion to everyone that will listen. Do yourself a favor and do your banking with a real bank.
This is our second mortgage with member first and we couldn't be happier. We never have to worry about them selling our mortgage to anyone, not like the banks were doing back before the crash. That is one thing we both loved about member first, besides the fact they're very easy to work with. The man that worked with us, Jim Thelen is the very best. He made it so easy for us and was always there if either of us had questions and he went out of his way to get our closing's to come together. I will always work with member first and LAFCU.
I would not recommend this credit union to anyone. I wish there was a 0 star option. The customer service is terrible and they aren't able to perform normal credit union transactions. Please think twice before opening an account here. I have had an account with this credit union for over 10 years. In the last year there have been too many problems to continue banking here. The other day I went in with cash and asked for quarters. A very simple transaction. I was asking for $80 in quarters to go wash blankets at the laundromat. The lady was very rude and said she didn't have quarters except a roll or two so she couldn't give me quarters. I asked her to please get more from the vault. Her response was that they locked the vault and she couldn't do it (it was at 4 and they don't close until 5). Then with a snotty attitude she said "do you even have an account here?!!!". When I responded yes, she said "well we don't have quarters to hand out to everyone all day long!" Wait, what?! I used to work there. It was your job as a teller to make sure you had enough change and if you didn't have it you needed to get more from the vault. Customers (memebers) are the reason you have a job- that is also why you are there. To take care of your customers financial needs. Additionally, earlier this year my debit card wasn't working because the magnetic stripe wore out. They tried to charge me for a new one and were rude about that too!! I didn't lose the card, I didn't bend my card. The card simply did not hold up because I was using it. Apparently it was my fault for using the card. There were so many other instances that would take too long to write about. Please think twice before opening an account here. I know I no longer will be banking here.

I am glad I did not read these reviews before I did my refinancing with Member First. I most likely would not have used them. But honestly, while I did have a small gliche with them, the overall experience was really smooth. This was my first time doing a refinancing and I thought the process would have been very cumbersome and difficult but with online service, and being able to sign all my documents online, I think it was great. I was in constant contact with them via email and even if I called to talk they were always available. I am so sorry that it was not as smooth for others who worked with them.
I was referred to Member First from a friend who used them, I myself was not a credit union member, I am so glad I was referred to them, as a first time homebuyer I didn't know what to expect, but the loan officer walked me through the process and kept me informed the entire time, my realtor was also pleasantly surprised how well it went. Because of the great service I received, I started an account with a local credit union, and I am able to make my mortgage payment right at the credit union! I cant thank the staff at member first enough for making this transaction easy for me.
This credit union, right from the start of our mortgage 8 years ago, was a nightmare to work with. The customer service line could never find our account anytime we called with questions. We had to go through a series of people trying to get to someone who could 'find' us in their system. It was a nightmare. We are glad to be rid of them!
I have had an account here since 1995. I have had two home loans through CWCU and have a Visa, debit/ATM card and online bill pay through CWCU. Have been very satisfied with the customer service and all of their services. They have been part of the Credit Union Network since before I joined, so out-of-town transactions can be done. Wish the location by the Pyramid had drive thru though since all of the CWCU locations are West of me. Overall I am a long-time very satisfied customer. Have referred several of my friends & they are pleased with the service.
They ignore your calls and don't call you back!!
