Upon reflection, When the court first awarded my guardianship case to the Servants Center we had a very rough time working together for about 7 years. This was partially due to the broken mental health system in Grand Rapids, lack of accountability, and systematic abuse. One main issue I have identified was that on top of having an extremely frustrating time trying to figure out how to work with the Servants Center, I also encountered issues with Cherry Health case managers, and Dr's, Pine Rest Case Management and Dr's, and with Network 180 refusing to help me in regards to requesting different case management services because I was blocked by doing so because of the guardianship. I was told by every case manager that I had that my case was the overall worst guardianship case they had ever heard about. This was due to the systematic abuse. What I found that worked for me to be able to successfully have the Probate Judge sign off on the termination of guardianship was to find a way to work with Servants Center in doing so. This change finally started to take place when I was able to switch to Interact Case Management which is also the same time that Servant Center hired a new employee that had experience working directly with the marginalized communities which happened to be the final year of the guardianship. What I found to be very helpful was that I needed to be very tactful and also hold people accountable. I would read the website of the Case Management Company that I was with and if at any time they did not uphold what their responsibilities were I would immediately file a recipient rights complaint with the date and time of incident. When I repeatedly had issues with the Dr's not giving me standard medical care I would contact Michigan Protection and Advocacy whom told me to find a new Dr. I would also research every diagnosis that was on my record and prepared to meet with the Dr's and I would bring proof with me about medications and documentation of the severe negative side effects and such. But I would also be prepared to suggest a few solutions with the Dr. I found this to be very helpful. I would also bring a friend to every Dr. appointment and case management appointment to have proof that I was being honest, and also proof that the Dr's and Case Managers were on some funny business. In addition to being assertive and respectful I signed up for any and all community classes and also mental health classes and completed the programs until I received a certificate. I would then copy all my certificates and give one copy to Servants Center and to my case managers to prove by a reasonable doubt that I was actively working towards recovery. After doing this, I found that if I needed to discuss something about my SSDI, incompetency case, ect...I found that it was so much easier to just contact Servants Center myself instead of relying on the case manager. But before contacting the Servants Center I would make sure that I had researched the issues that I needed to discuss, and make sure that I could site the sources of information to them. There is a "guardianship" legal book at Cooley Law School Library which explains the responsibilities of a guardian. I found it helpful to copy the applicable pages, and just discuss any issues directly with Servants Center or the case managers. Overall the "guardianship" experience caused me to have severe trauma due to the systematic abuse, and lack of accountability. I also feel that the probate court since they originally signed off deeming me incompetent is responsible for violating my 8th amendment right of "cruel and unusual punishment." In the end I was able to come to a Win Win solution with Servants Center because they filed on my behalf and supported my guardianship being terminated. The entire process caused a lot of suffering. The probate court, network 180, or Servants Center might be open to any suggestions of how the system can be changed for the better.
They pretend to be a Christian based service, no one that I've encountered has acted Christ like, as a mother they have tried to move me away from MY CHILD and stopped communicating with me, because I'm not letting them do what they would like to do with MY CHILD, I'm watching them closely, they have made several mistakes already with dealing with MY CHILD. They do not believe in keeping families together, they are rude and unprofessional and I will see to it that this business goes out of business. This place is not full of the attributes of Christ, WARNING: DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE it won't be good unless you dance to their music. WHAT organization wants to see families torn apart.
worst place ever dont ever have them for guardianship they will treat you like your in jail and treat you like crap and they don't follow the rules they make up there own crap not go by the court stuff and they steal and lie to you would never recommend them ever
Place s very clean. but prior staffing, high turn over for nursing staff. Staff is rude, always in a hurry, always understaffed.
Excellent care. Most of staff very caring. Catholic environment. Staffed much better than most with professional staffing. Good physical therapy. Large clean facilities. Above average food. Private rooms (although smallish).
DO YOUR RESEARCH. Do not send ANYONE you care about to this facility. They are not licensed and it shows. Staff does not even pretend to care most of the time. Constantly "understaffed" and nearly always under-trained. LOTS of staff turnover and very inconsistent with training and follow through. Bottom line: KEEP LOOKING. Don't bother stopping by this place. It's in a wonderful location and it ends there.
I was very disappointed with the bridesmaid dress and service I received at the Renee Austin Boutique on Bridge in Grand Rapids. It took about four months for the dress to come in and I was not fitted properly. When the dress came in, it was too small and I was told repeatedly by staff that the dress was suppose to look like that and it looked great. I wasn't convinced. When I got home, I tried the dress on for my husband and we couldn't even get the dress to zip up. I'm still wondering how they managed to zip it up. I was very upset and the boutique wouldn't do anything with my complaint stating that their dresses always need to be altered when they arrive. I was never once told this the entire time dealing with them. I had to take the dress to an alteration place, which was only able to make the dress a little bigger due to the fit and lack of extra material to work with. I ended up paying over two hundred dollars for a dress that didn't fit even after alterations. I am honestly disgusted with how I was treated and the poor service I was given. Please think twice before going there.
