Las Marias

I went with a co-worker to Las Marias yesterday for lunch. We used to frequent Conchita's which has moved and is now Las Marias since we work right across the street from the place and it was good. I am mexican so I am used to my 73 year old nana's chili which she has been making all of her life. I will tell you it just doesn't get any better! Needles to say I wasn't very impressed with Conchita's although it was good for what it was caucasion/mexican food. The moment I bit into my shredded beef buritto with green chili I could tell that this was REAL mexican food when memories of my childhood rushed into my head like Saturday morning eating breakfast at my nana's house with my cousins having potatos and chili with homemade fresh torts and eggs in front of the t.v. watching cartoons while the grownups sat in the kitchen drinking coffee and eating breakfast at the table talking loudly over the new mexican music playing on the turntable. You could smell the potatos and the green chili cooking from a mile away. After all if you would drive from Fruita at 7 a.m. on a Saturday with a car full of kids to Orchard Mesa to eat some potatos and chili well then it must be good.

I have eaten at most of the mexican food restaurants in the valley and I can honestly say that this is the most authentic mexican food this side of my nana's house in Grand Junction that I have tasted. I fully recomend this restaurant to all of my friends and to you as well.

I just took orders from four of my co-workers and will be soon on my way to Las Marias for the second day in a row for lunch.
