I rented a car on the internet using the Grand Island, NE pickup/return at the airport. I had a copy of my contract with me that says, "What You Pay At Counter - $276.68". By the time I was out of there they had the price up to $355.35 PLUS $200 to make sure I filled the car with gas when I returned it. I had the Hertz rental booth from the airport where I left from (Phoenix/Mesa Gateway) look at the contract and they estimated I was over charged by at least $64.21 and gave me a phone number to call. I called the number, the general number for Hertz, and they said they could not do anything for me "because it was an independently owned dealer." I am NOT having much luck contacting anyone that can help me. My suggestion would be to contact Enterprise at Grand Island and NOT deal with Hertz OR Thrifty at the airport, they add fees on that you are not made aware of and it appears you have no recourse if you need a car. What a 'black eye' for Hertz, what a terrible dealership.
Enterprise Grand Island has been great. I reserved a compact but they didn't have one so I go an upgrade to a Sante Fe SUV. It was brand new with only 5 miles. The service has been great and the employees are always friendly. I will rent from them every time I need a car!
Only filled gas tank half full. This was concerning. I have never rented a car from any agency where this was the policy. Did not like this polic at all.
