We usually head south on Brand from our offices to find lunch, but after a while, the selections get a bit boring. I'd known all along that Mediterranean Grill was just to the north, off the beaten path, but it took me a really long time to come over and check it out. The wait, as they way, was well worth it. I love the fresh pita sandwiches, the Athens fries (delicious and hold their flavor, even "to go"), and the steak salad. And my colleague noted that the Greek styled pita pizza and salad combo were pretty good as well. There's sometimes a bit of a wait after you place your order, and many people seem to call ahead if they want their food to go. There's seating in the restaurant, an outdoor patio, and additional seating in an atrium-type area adjacent to the lobby of the office building the restaurant is located in. All in all a great place, a bit hidden, but worth the discovery.
First, this is a hall. It fits about 110 people so it is perfect for a birthday. I threw my partner a 30th birthday party. The owner is really accomodating and has a good sense of humor, the staff has limited English but they are Armenian so that is expected. The food was AWESOME. For the price we paid per guest (our party was only 70 people) everyone raved about the food both about the quality and the quantity. The only draw back is that it is in an ok neighborhood (not in an incredible one). Also, the entrance has some old couches but I put up balloons to obscure that fact. Other than than, that, the inside is nice and the bathrooms are very clean. the dance floor fits the crowd (it is not huge) but when you are dancing, it is very well suited and felt spacious to me.They also suggested a DJ and he turned out to be Excellent.
Note: The full name should be Massif Mediterranean Grill I wish I had words for how good this place is. Ordered delivery and it was quick and painless. Chicken kebab plate - phenomenal. Beef kebab plate - Also phenomenal. Beef shawarma hummus - amazing. Manti - If I could fathom the happiness these tiny dumplings brought me, I would know the true meaning of life. Pita - standard store bought. Rice - delicious. Garlic sauce - please. Omg please. I need this in an IV drip because reasons. Cheese borek - pretty good. There was so much more I wanted to order, but I can only fit so much into my black hole of stomach. Overall, I was very happy and round afterwards. Couldn't be happier. Kudos to the chef! I'll definitely be back here.
I've been going here for lunch one or twice a week. It's not particularly busy during the day, which is nice, and the wait staff are all very friendly. So far I've stuck to their Allegro Crunch sandwich, but their spaghetti was really unique and good as well. Know ahead of time that they may not have desserts to serve, at least at lunch, due to lack of demand (they make them fresh, when they are prepared). If you plan ahead, the waitress said they would accommodate requests for desserts ahead of time. She said the tiramisu & mousse are both fantastic. Oh, and the coffee is good, which is a bonus. Also, they're totally cool with you staying a while if you're writing, or working. Way better than stinky Starbucks.
Better go there now, before "the suits" find this place. The inside is elegant and spacious. The food is excellent ( I had the penne pesto, and added bacon). If they don't have something you want, just grab something else off the menu and customize it. The chef is really good and pretty creative--take advantage of it now, because as more people actually come in, it will surely grow in lunchtime popularity. Also,...um be SPECIFIC when ordering. Double-check. Make sure the server repeats to you exactly what you ordered. There is a high rotation in the serving staff.
Nice place to round out an evening out. They have a great patio area. Ordered some tea and desserts and service was friendly and nice. A few in our party ordered hookahs and staff was constantly refreshing the coals. Their menu is extensive and has kebab platesand salads as well. I'll have to visit to try the food next time. I saw the other tables with food and it looked great.
Just moved to Glendale and so stoked to see a Zankou Chicken! I grew up near one of these in Anaheim and knew I had to come here. The tri tip shawarma was really good, but the chicken tarna was even better. The winner though was that delicious garlic spread. I usually buy tubs of that stuff at the market so I was so excited to see it here. Definitely coming back!
They have a good selection of roasted chicken dishes and kebab plates. Good place to go if you are looking for 'fast food' type kebab food, that is not super expensive, but that is still good quality. I like every dish I've tried, except the chicken sandwich - which was a bit bland. But recommend the chicken plates, the beef plate and all sides.
If Zankou chicken had a step sister this would be it. Rotisserie chicken plates with hummus and is rice / French fries. Lately the chicken is not moist as it was before but maybe it's just been because it was evening time? Lunch specials are great. They have a buy one 1/4 chicken meal get one free deal. I still prefer Zankou.
Good food, basic atmosphere, indoor/outdoor seating...staff extremely nice. The only thing I don't like is the restrooms are just outside and they require keys. This puts me in gas station mode and I just want to wash my hands before touching the yummy falafel bread.
