Service

I parked my car by myself and was still charged a fee-the attendant said that if I don't pay I can go eat somewhere else- I went inside and complained to the manager or person in charge-she said that the parking attendant denied saying this to which I replied of course he denies it-he doesn't want to get fired. would a customer complain if he didn't get a bad experience? I hope you get it that its not the parking fee!!!!

My Thrilla from Manila

My craving for Filipino food rarely gets satisfied but Max's did the trick. I haven't had Filipino food this good since my mom made it (yes my mom made Filipino food). The lumpia had a good amount of meat and was so tasty. Chicken adobe was incredible and garlic rice was so good, I love garlic. An absolute must try is the Halo-Halo, this dessert was delicious, I got mine with mango ice cream, pure Heaven. Prices and service were decent and the staff was friendly, if I'm ever in the neighborhood and need a Filipino fix I'll definitely return.

Arrogant and Rude

I wrote this review on Yelp:

The arrogance and rudeness of the staff is almost as well seasoned as the fatty fried chicken. I suppose I can believe that Max's exemplifies the typical loftiness and rise of a company whose humble beginnings are quickly forgotten because of fame and fortune. It used to be that I was made to feel insignificant at over priced jewelry and department stores, until I wen to Max's. On my second visit, the snot-nosed, irritable hostess looked down at me and insisted that the wait was over forty-five minutes. Then, threw the large pager onto the counter as she looked away. Of course, her discourteous attitude was only the beginning of a lousy night at that pricey restaurant. The waiter only showed up to take our order. I tried to flag down for help many times that I almost had to take care of our own needs: vinegar dip, dessert, etc. I now eat at Salo-Salo, not only to enjoy delicious Filipino food, but also as a protest to Max's incompetent, supercilious, and bad-mannered staff.

I'm Filipino and I do not like this place

All they do here is fry everything. There is nothing tasty about eating everything fried and passing it off as Filipino food. You are better off eating at a Filipino place where you have to point at food in order to have it put on your plate.

filipino restaurant

Omg I love max, and i definetely understand what these people are saying, but c'mon too. I mean filipino, american, mexican. Whatever food it is, it has to be expensive. We are in the U.S. duuh!! I mean c'mon, its worth the money. Yeah the service is okay and the vallet is not free on weekends, but hey nothing in life is free. And plus there are alot of restaurant that charge for parking like palms, bj's in burbank, and many others. I guess filipino always has something to complain about their own kinds. It's kinda stupid too. But hey MAX HAS THE BEST FOOD. Advice to people is to just go there when its not rush hour. Or just to-go. Well i highly recommend this food to those people that are not filipino because its the best ever. Better than any other restaurants like bahay kubo and barrio fiesta. WOOOWW!

Tasty food...

Max's serves great tasting FOOD. The Crispy Pata and friend chicken are some of my most favorite plates. This place is a bit pricey, but that's the PRICE you pay for wanting authentic Filipino food. Nevertheless I'd say it?s worth the cost. The foods are mostly served warm, savory and fresh. One thing you need to keep in mind is that drinks are non-refillable. The AMBIENCE is average; it can be a bit too loud. This place is definitely not romantic. They can accommodate big parties except that the waiting period may take longer than usual. I would suggest making reservations for bigger parties. The SERVICE in Max?s is very poor. One trick we used: was to make sure orders are made all at once (including water, utensils, extra rice etc). Once the food is served the server rarely comes to check on customers.

over rated! over priced!!!

Eating Filino style is about sharing food with family and enjoying the company. i should know...i'm a flip. Max's has that atmosphere but it ends there...Who pays for refills on soda? At Max's you do. i can see the justification if juice is ordered but not soda. Max's prides itself for it's chicken...it's good but not $13.00 for a whole chicken good. Two (2) lumpia appetizers for $7!! The price gouging goes for most of the appetizers and a la carte items. I'm not a cheapskate but C'MON this is Filipino food which is known for being tasty and affordable...plus it's in Glendale...we're not in Old Town Pasadena or Bev Hills. Dios ko po!!
The laws of supply and demand reign here. there aren't many sit down Flip joints so they can charge what they do. i'll just have to drive further to Bahay Kubo in LA. Look for it. it's a lil joint but the food is tasty and the price is right. At best this rates a very generous 6.5 on a 10 scale.
