A coworker recommended Sapporo Ramen & Shabu-Shabu, particularly the spicy kimchi flavored broth base. (You choose a base for your shabu-shabu.) I chose that with the seafood selection: mussels, scallops, salmon, shrimp, and more. I loved the flavor and the experience. I went for lunch on a workday, and the timing was great. It's not super cheap, but this is not some pseudo-chinese fast food. Also you might re-think shabu-shabu for a date with someone you don't know well. It's a lot of fun having the broth and ingredients cook right at your table: dramatic, fresh, dynamic. If you like to participate in the final prep of your meal, shabu-shabu is a great choice, and this is a good place to go. Side note on shabu-shabu in general: if you're like me, shabu-shabu is not the most tidy style of food. Because you scoop (or chopstick) the food into the broth and then onto your plate, there are lots of changes for tiny splatters or drips. Don't go wearing a precious silk tie or dress, and don't go here for a first date.
Place is good me and my date like eating here every now and then not a big fan of asian food but this place isnt so bad for Computer Repair Ca…
Thanks to my friend who recommended this place. It is now one of my favorite spots in Glendale! The fish was fresh and the toppings were delicious. I ordered fish bowl with Salmon, Yellow Tail and Eel; spicy poke sauce; topped with seaweed, smelt eggs, and avocado. I love the tastes of my combination so much! All these goodness cost about $13, very good price! The reason why this place did not get 5 stars was the problem of the ordering website, which did not process my credit card payment under "Order for later" option. (I used Visa because the business only accepts Visa and Master cards) My friend tried to called the restaurant and intended to order by phone, but the manager did not understand the situation and had a rude attitude in responding. That was how we figured the business did not take orders by phone, which could be very inconvenient for customers; especially when there's a bug on the ordering website.
This place is a refreshing change from my "Brand Blvd" lunches. I had the Beef, Chicken, Shrimp skewer special and a bottle of water for under $10. The dishes come with white rice (brown is $.75 extra), salad, and a small sampling of tempura. My order, came with a heaping amount of food, 3 skewers jammed with hearty portions of meat. The quaint, but accommodating dining experience featured two flat screen TVs one with the CNN news (minor ugh, i am not a big CNN fan, but undestand that CNN is good for this type of viewing), the other TV had the local eatery, quick facts stream. Clean, efficient and friendly. The lady working the front of the house was certain to give a seemingly sincere "thank you" and "come again" to everyone. (that in itself helped me push my rate to Exceptional).
I've been here a few times, and I've always been pleased. The service is prompt and welcoming, and the food always tastes pretty good. It's not the greatest sushi in the LA area, but I don't really think that's really their goal. Zono has a lot of creative rolls and fun combinations. My girlfriends and I like to go here for Girls Night, and we always, always get the crispy spicy tuna roll. I can't remember what it's called exactly, but it's #5 on the picture menu. It's so delicious, and so different! Also a fun novelty, two of the rolls have the same names as my friend and me, so we always get a laugh when we order "our" sushi.
I love Katsuya and have been to their other locations in Hollywood, Brentwood and LA Live and this was my first time at the Glendale location. The food was amazing as usual, but what I really liked was the outdoor seating. The upstairs patio really made a great lunch experience after shopping at the mall. I also really liked this place because it was less crowded than the other locations and the atmosphere felt much more casual. It was a nice mix up but with the same great menu. Also the staff was extremely friendly and fun. This is a must stop for me next time I'm in Glendale!
Good prices for sushi! I've been here a few times now with friends and coworkers. It's not the best sushi I've had, but it's really affordable. If you go during lunch and do the lunch specials, you get a 5-piece sushi and miso soup to accompany your dish. I'm a fan of the Ocean's Quatro roll. Service can be slow. It's not the freshest sushi, but really, we're in Glendale here so I'll take what I can get. Parking is easy in the structure (free 90 minutes) and it's part of the backside of the Glendale Marketplace, next to the big HomeGoods store.
Whenever I feel like eating good Sushi in Glendale area, I always eat at Sushi Kai. It's kind of hidden so the place never gets crowded but the place serves good quality sushi and rolls for the price. Lunch is definitely a better deal than dinner since all lunch combos come with extra five nigiri sushi. There are so many lunch choices and all of them are under $15. My favorite is Basked salmon roll lunch ($13). You can order lunch menu till 4 p.m. There is a parking structure in front of the restaurant and it's free for 90 minutes.
Honestly I stumbled into this place. I eat a lot of sushi. In my humble opinion, this place is the BEST sushi west of the 405 and a MUST for anyone (but especially yp employees) DO GO EAT HERE! also-you must must must try the uni. Now, I hate uni. It's the only sushi I can't stomache. This was my favorite thing that I had. THE Chef uses soshi (sp?) Leaves and shredded wasabi and lime on top to creat this unreasonably delicious morsel that I'm sure will be served in Gods waiting room.
I find the quality of a lunch spot correlates well with the number of cops eating there at any particular time. Every other time I go here there are at least a couple detectives showing down, and I can't blame them. The food is very good, portions are large, and the price is right. The interior is nicer than you'd expect and there are a couple tvs. The only thing I don't care for is the overcooked salmon.
The first thing you notice is how trendy and modern the interior is. Almost feels more like a nightclub than a sushi restaurant. Apparently they have a DJ on the weekends, so maybe that's what they're going for. I usually go for lunch. They have lunch specials that give you a lot of food for not too much money. And it's good! I've never regretted ordering something. Staff has always been very friendly.
