The vet I have used for many years, Total Bond, in Lake Wylie wanted so much to extract 1 tooth on my senior kitty I was forced to look elsewhere. And boy am I happy. I loved Dr. Suggs and the staff was very nice too. Instead of paying $450 for the extraction ( and they wanted to do an ultrasound for an additional $409 ) I was charged $179. That included a cleaning and surprisingly an additional tooth. I even offered to pay for the additional tooth and Dr. Suggs said don't worry about it. I am very pleased with everything they did and so is Dixie! She is munching away with no more pain. Thanks again Gaston Veterinary - I'll never go anywhere else again. Ann

I work in the animal industry and very close friends(more than 1) has worked here. ANIMAL ABUSE FROM HELL !!! And selling expired vaccines and Vet Techs giving rabies vaccines when Vets are on lunch SUPER ILLEGAL! Don’t take your pets here please. I can’t stand living in a town knowing this is going on.

My dog get very sick over night, I took him to the vet I had been using since moving from Charlotte to Crouse which was Cherryville animal hospital. I was in tears when I ran inside and told the front desk how bad off he was and that I needed help carrying him in, we sat in the car 20 minutes and no one came to help. I was mad and upset so I got his records and left not knowing where to go. A friend told me to go to Gaston Vet, she called them for me and when I pulled up they were outside waiting on me and immediately got my baby inside and Dr. P went to work on him. The entire staff was very caring and considerate. Dr. P immediately got an xray, started him on meds and kept him 3 days. They did everything in their power for my Petey man and never once asked me to give up on him. We tried many different treatments and meds over the next 2 wks, he had good and bad days and again they never encouraged me to give up. Petey gave it his all and so did me and all of the staff at Gaston but the day came he lost the ability to swallow and I knew what I had to do. I called Dr. P and told her I was coming, they knew by the tone of my voice it was time. When I got there they were waiting and came right out and carried my baby inside one last time. Petey heard Dr. P voice and gave a tail wag. Dr. P and the tech cried as much as I did, we all talked to him through the process and Dr. P thanked me for loving Petey for the 3 yrs we had. It was a brain tumor nothing could be done but Dr. P, me and Petey gave it our best shot. Gaston Vet will be my vet for the rest of my life.

i sit still crying over the loss of my precious, beautiful, Presley. the compassion that Cathy and the whole staff shows, not just me, but very client that walks through the doors in beyond exceptional. i know Cathy did every thing in her professional power to "fix" him. Presley picked me from Carolina Cat Clinic and i had to let him go at GVH. God bless you, Dr. Cathy Pearman and all the Dr.'s and staff

Gaston Veterinary Hospital is the BEST animal clinic in the area. My family has been taking our pets here for over 20 years and we've always been very happy with the care provided by the doctors and other staff. Their prices are comparable to other area vets and their services are prompt and appropriate, I'm very surprised to see the negative reviews on here. If you want the final amount before you go pay all you have to do is call and ask. If you want an estimate before hand all you have to do is ask. Another thing I'd like to point out is that just because you worked at a vet clinic somewhere does not mean you know everything that is going on or needs to be done. If you did you would probably be a veterinarian yourself and wouldn't need to seek the assistance of one. As for the front desk staff being rude, they may not be singing and dancing for you when you walk in the front door but they clearly LOVE animals and treat all the animals they see with the greatest of compassion.

Extremely rude and Unknowledgeable front desk staff. Our first experience was when my cat was hit by a car on a Friday. I was able to see him Saturday but he was in a metal crate beside barking dogs without any blankets and his IV pump was not plugged in. Sunday I was unable to reach anyone in regards to how he was doing because the clinic was closed. Monday they said he was almost ready to go home with me but I knew he wasn't feeling well so I transferred him to another hospital. There I found out he had a broken rib, jaw, severe brain damage and had lost sight and hearing. I had only been told about his jaw being broken at Gaston Veterinary.

Our second time visiting was for some easy stitches for my dog. The veterinarian was kind and knowledgable but once again, front staff completely rude and Unknowledgeable.

After stitching my dog they sent him home with me completely sedated! A 90lb dog completely knocked out! He should be under veterinary supervision until awake and should have stayed the day.

If I hadn't worked for a veterinary clinic before, I wouldnt have brought him home, but they don't know my experience. They didn't even tell me what to watch for and expect. It scares me to think of someone who knows little about their animals taking home a pet completely sedated. Additionally I never signed a release form for sedation or got an estimate before hand.

Next emergency visit I'll suck it up for the drive to Charlotte. Never again will I come here.

Our doctor asked this client NOT to take her pet home, but she insisted that she would be able to care for it. She also insisted on helping the staff in the treatment room. She has no idea what she saw regarding other pets and their care. We are sorry for her dissatisfaction, but we stand by our treatment policy. The front desk person is no longer with us.

can't be trusted...TERRIBLE!!!!!

Front desk staff is terribly unfriendly. Was quoted one price and charged $150 more and was given a complete BS reason when I questioned the overage. They play on your live for your animal to take advantage of you. I will never take another animal to them.

Thank you for your comment. Our staff has always been complimented for their caring attitudes. We are very sorry you had a bad experience, in your mind. Also, prices quoted are generalized; once the doctor sees your pet, they may have to be adjusted according to additional problems or services.

Replace the Front Desk Staff!

I've been going to GV for 3 yrs now and I will not be going back! The girls at the front desk have NO personality, not friendly at all!! Not too mention, they give wrong quotes on vaccines, procedures etc., and just don't seem to have it together. People want to see friendly faces when they are bringing their beloved pet to them. Need help girls!!!!!!

Excellent Veterinary Office

The veterinarians at Gaston Veterinary Hospital are great. Dr. Dan Suggs has been the care taker of my dog since we adopted him at six weeks. I have also had great service from the other vets. when Dr. Suggs was not in office. I have never had a long wait even without an appointment. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and very helpful, and you can tell they all love animals. Based on the friendly service and competence of the entire staff, I won't take my dog anywhere else. I highly recommend this Veterinary office to everyone.
