The first time we went, we had our college age daughter and our younger preschool age daughter with us. Both remained engaged throughout the program. We have gone many times since then. The Maestro explains the pieces with authority yet in a way anyone can understand. The arrangements were wonderful and quite lively. The Garland, Sachse area is better for having the GSO. This organization is a high quality non pretentious orchestra that everyone can enjoy.

My wife and attended the 15 Dec 09 performance. We were amazed at the level of the performance – there was an improvisational piece that was on par with any Symphony anywhere, well beyond what one might expect - truly amazing. We are talking jaw breath taking.
One of things that struck me about the GSO is that all members are accessible to the concert attendee and that does not happen everywhere – we felt welcome. You just cannot beat a warm and genuine reception like that anywhere.
This is a must hear - out it on the MUST do list you will not be disappointed.

This is an musical entertainment experience where you are up close to a world-class orchestra and a world class-conductor who leads a combination of Pops and Classical music throughout the season. The highly experienced musicians represent a variety of cultures and they play for a number of prominent venues in North Texas.
The Garland Symphony is a combination of fun and great music where the conductor combines a wealth of knowlege with a surprising bit of humor.
If you have not heard the Garland Symphony you are missing an opportunity to hear great music, superb performers, guests from all over the world and accessible people who you can meet at the end of the performances.
Did I mention that parking is free and ticket prices are a bargain.

You're able to hear a world class orchestra play not only great Classical music but Christmas and Pops as well. The Maesto, Robert Carter Austin, is well educated in all genres of music and enjoys educating his audience on the backgrounds of the composers and the individual pieces of music that the orchestra plays. He makes the evenings enjoyable for young and old.The orchestra is comprised of musicians from all over the world. You are able to hear the passion and talent that the musicians have for every piece of music that they play.
They also have many guest artists and conductors that come from various countries around the world. It is more convenient that the Meyerson and Bass halls and a lot less expensive.
