No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
This has been my third or fourth experience with One Stop and I came back each time because of the awesome and dedicated service I received each and every time! Needing repair work for whatever reason is never fun but Adam and Erin showed that the truly understand the frustration behind that and put you as the customer first. They were very compassionate about my situation and I felt truly cared about the situation from my point of view for me and my family rather than just caring about the business or what the insurance company wanted. Erin kept an open line of communication through the entire process and I felt she was always on my side, going above and beyond, to ensure things were handled in a timely manner with the insurance process. Adam and the guys truly showed what customer service means when he took my familys needs into consideration over what the insurance company wanted him to do. We had a van that was finally declared totaled in flood water and after three long weeks of dealing with the insurance company on this they had to agree with Adam in that the vehicle couldn't be repaired due to the unknown of the long term possibilities on the vehicle. Adam and his team had our best interest in mind from the beginning and did everything he could before concluding it simply wasn't safe to repair without knowing what could happen down the road. I would definitely recommend One Stop for any repair or collision work, we had another vehicle serviced there a few years ago for collision work and it looked amazing when they were done! If you want a company that has YOUR best interest in mind this is the one!
THE BEST BY FAR!!!! I was amazed by the whole experience. I found them through a google search and then in the yellow pages. I was impressed with them because they had over 50 reviews and a 5 STAR rating. No one else came anywhere close to that!! I needed to have a front bumper on my ford focus replaced. I took it in on a wednesday just before they closed and they had it done by friday at closing. That in itself is unbelievable, let alone the fact that the repair made it look like the car was new. Their price was also well below that of other estimates I had gotten. I also need to mention this-- I got in my car to leave and was in shock because it was CLEAN. I literally said WOW when I got in it. That was totally unexpected. So needless to say, they are by far the best repair shop that I have ever come in contact with and yes I have had my fair share of needing body work done over the years. I will never go anywhere else in the future if I ever need any work done and I will always recommend them to anyone I come in contact with that needs any body work done. Did I mention that they are amazingly friendly too? That is just the icing on the cake!! Thank you so much again, for an excellent job well done!!
One Stop Collision by far exceeded my expectations! I have never been in an accident before and was feeling very over whelmed dealing with the insurance company and trying to find a respectable auto body shop to do the repairs on my car. The moment I walked into One Stop Collision I felt at ease. I gave them my claim number and I was reassured they would handle everything, and THEY DID! They walked me through the insurance process and all of the repairs that were to be done. I was frequently updated on the status of the repairs. Not only did they fix the damage from the accident but also a few other minor things that were wrong. When I picked up my car it had been detailed inside and out. The customer service was outstanding and my car looks and drives like it has never been in an accident. I would recommend One Stop Collision to anyone and everyone! Lori
The best consumer service you can find. I searched throughout the state of Michigan for the best facility to repair my Volvo s60R. Let me say, I love my car and take extreme care of it and I was scared that after an accident it would never look the same. One Stop Collision takes a lot of pride in their work and it showed in the results. I told Adam I came to them because I wanted the best job done and he delivered. They offer options to help you with your situation, but that's no the point here. They do the best job, they care about their work, and they treat you like you've been their customer for 20 years from first contact. I wish I could show pictures of my car! I have a project Porsche that I'm almost finished with and I'm bring it to them for paint! Honestly, this is an awesome facility with the best staff!

One Stop Collision Shop has far exceeded my expectations! They got my car finished 2 days before the original date they had told me. The follow up was exceptional. They were calling me everyday with updates. They had to replace my bumper and the color matches exactly! I'm a girl so I didn't realize how hard that was to match color. Numerous guys that I am friends with have told me they can't believe how well it matches. The TV commercial they run talking about the customer service is very true. Erin and Adam are extremely honest and friendly and make a no fun situation like a damaged car as fun as can be! They even gave me my car back way cleaner than it was when I dropped it off! Thank you so much One Stop!
Simply put, the staff at One Stop Collision Shop in Garden City are awesome! From first encounter, during the process to me receiving my vehicle back...it was one of the best customer service experiences I have had in years. Each person was courteous, respectful of my time and I honestly felt their priority was earning my trust as a customer, than just tending to the job specifically. I know insurance companies may make it easy to use their "preferred shops", but this was well worth the "very little" extra effort for what I felt was a superior finished product and pure customer satisfaction. Thank you One Stop Collision!
I just want to say that I am very pleased with this company... They paid my deductible ... they fought with my insurance company to do the job correctly and they got it done in a timely manner. on top of that Erin actually set up a rental car that only cost me $20 a day .. so she's not only pretty but she's a pretty smart cookie when it comes to the business and dealing with insurance companies and communicating with people ... Adam really worked for me on getting me on the road with the most minimal expense possible... I really like these people and I the way they took care of me!
What a wonderful shop. Friendly, Fast, A+. Not a better shop in the tri-county area. Car was returned to me cleaner then when I left it there. Work is flawless & car looks like new. Insurance tried to force me to go to their shop, but I picked One Stop based on the reviews. 2 shops they had recommended I had been to with other cars I owned & was not pleased with the work. Money was coming out of my pocket to pay for this one & I was not going to be bullied into going to a shop I was unhappy with before. Thank you so much
I couldn't be happier with my recent experience at Dewey's Transmission. The transmission in my work van wouldn't go into reverse so I needed to get it repaired as quick as possible. Since I'd had a great work done in the past - notably my brakes and a bad alternator, they were my first choice. Not only did they rebuild my transmission and get me back on the road in 3 days, but the cost was less than I expected to pay. Here I am 2 month's later, and everything is great ! Thanks Mike - I'm glad I found such a reliable mechanic
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
