Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston
Good for Kids: Yes
No coupons available
Do not go after Labor Day. I was told they "staff down" and the best rides were closed for the 1st half of the day. But they still charge full price. To top it off, the bun of my bbq sandwich had green mold on it. They obviously squeeze out the last profit they can w/o providing the same level of services they should after summer. No discount, free lunch (no pun!), nothing offered for such a poor experience.
We LOVE Schlitterbahn in Galveston! We go during the week in the summer and it is never crowded, friendly staff, and clean! We try to go once a week (make the hour trip from Houston once a week) and it is worth it! Get the season pass early and you can do the winter season too!

I must confess, it's always a disconcerting to read less than great reviews about any place I am considering going to. I searched water parks and after reading about another park that seemed to be gang oriented, I figured I'd try my luck here. I wasn't thrilled about the ""bacteria"" reviews I read but thought this could be only one persons reaction and that the park must keep a pretty good eye on this sort of thing. I think I made the right choice. Nobody can teach the Houston / Galveston anything when it comes to heat and humidity. With that being a way of life spending a day at Schlitterbahn's could be looked at as more of a reprieve than anything else. With so many really fun things there it is funny that the thing I like the best is the spray mist. I can stand under it all day just letting the water rain down over me. It seems to be the perfect combo of cool water and heat balancing each other out. I spent the day there with friends and none of us got sick so I guess any problems they might have had were taken care of.

Let me say first, do not try and sneak alcohal in. You may get it past the front guys checking your coolers easily, but you won't survive the undercover staff security spying on everyone. Hint: they wear Hawaiin shirts
I've been to the original New Braunfels Schitterbaun...........and it is nasty compared to Galveston. This is definitely the better of the two and is clean. Sea World SA can't hang with a waterpark specialist like Shlitterbahn. The lines can be long like anywhere, but do go when everyone is in school during the week. The rides are great and diverse for all ages. The kids will love it and they have lifeguards swarming this place, even the 6"" water. The price is I guess ok for such a great place.
This is a must see if you like waterparks and the best in the Houston/Galveston/San Antonio area.

I went to the water park last weekend and had a great time. Sunday morning when I woke up I had a huge rash all over my stomach which I thought was a heat rash. It began to spread and now it is on my back, neck, ears, arms and face. I went to the dr. on Tuesday and was told they have seen numerous people in the last month with the same rash as I have and visited Schlitterbahn as well. The dr. told me the bacteria levels in the water were higher than normal, that is why I developed a rash. The bacteria entered through my hair follicles and now i have a rash all over my body. DO NOT GO. This trip was not worth all the trouble it caused me. if you want to go to schlitterbahn go to the one in New Braunfels. its worth the drive and your health.

The galveston schlitterbahn has poor customer service. I strongly believed they misrepresented the terms of their year passes when they opened last fall and are completely inflexible. I discussed with Catherine Slight what happened and her opinion was essentially my way or the highway. I witnessed a similiar misrepresentation after I purchased the season passes near the time and did not think much about it except that the representatives had the same attitude. In the summer lines are slow both at the window and the food lines. The food is below average for amusement parks. The park clearly does not come close to the standards of the original in New Braunsfuls by any measure.
