When I signed up with Fitness Evolution over a year ago I was offered daycare at the gym Mon-Fri in the mornings AND evenings and on Sat morning. I have been charged 10.00 per child, I have 3 so $30.00 a month for that daycare service plus my $9.99 gym fee . I work Mon-Fri 7:30am to 4:00pm so I can only go to the gym in the evenings. I usually only went Tues, Wed, and Friday because Mondays are always packed, Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings I have a permanent engagements. I always went on Friday evening for sure. A little over a month ago I went to the gym with my kids on a Friday evening and SURPRISE!! They said "Oh we don't have daycare on Friday evenings anymore". They didn't give me a 30 day notice, or any notice for that matter. I have tried to make it work pretty much only going 2 days a week, but at $39.99 a month this is a waste of money to me. I called yesterday at around 10:30 am to cancel my membership and I was told that I could come in anytime yesterday to cancel. But to be aware that they were still going to charge me this month AND next month because I have to give 30 day notice. Are you kidding me?? Also yesterday was the 1st so technically that would be a 30 day notice. I told him I should not be charged for this month or the next for sure. When I signed up I was told I could cancel at any time with no fees at all. He then told me if I wanted to possibly get next months fee waived I can go to their website and send corporate a message. I did that and asked for a call back yesterday, NEVER got a call back. After work I went to the gym at around 5pm. The guy at the counter said sorry but we can't cancel memberships between the 1st and the 4th of the month. I asked why? He said because the automatic payments come out of our customers bank accounts between the 1st and 4th. SO basically if they cancel you right then they will lose out on the money that is being processed. AND by saying you cannot cancel between the 1st and 4th that means you didn't give a 30 day notice and they make sure to get paid one more time the following month!!! Fitness Evolution that is called a CONTRACT even though you state NO CONTRACT! You guys are liars and guys you are shady. This is no way to run a business. I have to go back on Monday with my kids in tow to try and cancel again. I KNOW that for some reason they will not be able to cancel for me. YOU GUYS BROKE YOUR CONTRACT WITH ME FIRST. Where was my 30 day notice about the daycare change?????? DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM, YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I recently visited Fitness Evolution to become a member but to my surprise after speaking with the attendant I have decided not to. Here is why I had them explain there membership fees to me which the young lady tried her best to do here it is as advertised: $9.99 per month on a month to month basis with a $1.00 beginning fee to join and you must pay last months fee. ( Which so far is ok) but then you get told that you are mandated to pay a yearly $40.00 rate guarantee fee to lock in your $9.99 rate. So I dug deeper in to this fee and asked how long the gym had been in business. ( 5 Years) and I asked in the 5 years of doing business how many times had the rate increased. ( not Once since being in business) So I then asked could I wave the fee and I would take my chance on the rate increasing. I was told it was mandatory to pay the fee of $40.00 which So I again asked if the rate had not increased in the last 5 years of doing business why would they expect it to increase now. I was told they had no knowledge of rate increasing ever, but the fee still was mandated to join the gym. So I say to you why do members have to pay for essentially 4 new members every year that won't use the facility, if you multiply that fee by all the members Fitness Evolution has that become a very handsome fee collected by this organization for strong arming its members. So in the future it may be best to advertise honestly with your members and to be up front with your cost of doing business. I strongly encourage people thinking of joining this gym to look elsewhere.
