This is a beautiful, cozy Victorian style shop with one of the mos extensive selection of beads. I've personally taken a class there and had a wonderful time with lots of laughter and friendly talk with a very informative instructor. There are now chairs in Kiowa Rose (not sure if that's a new thing) but I am disabled and need to sit quite often. There is also a lot of already made jewelry to inspire you and give you great ideas.

IF I were to find anything negative (we had to really ponder to find something negative) it would be that the staff appears to be more introspective rather than bubbling over with perkiness. I personally find this nicer since it gives me a chance to shop without being pushed to buy something. The staff are quiet when you first meet them but you need help, you will find them a well of helpful information.

Wow thanks for the nice review!! Yes the chairs have always been there. When we were first starting we wanted to have a special sitting area but those beads keep taking up all the space!! So the table and 3 chairs is all for now. As to the quietness. Many moons ago there was a store far far away that I would go to. The owner would talk non stop while I was shopping, don't get me wrong he was a really nice guy, but I just couldnt concentrate on what I needed to buy and I am always designing in my head as I go along so I ended up going somewhere else!! So, our rule is we always greet the customer, we are always on the floor to be of help if needed and if you want to talk about beads we are usually always ready to have a conversation about that!! Please remember, our lives are just like yours, we have good days and bad days and quiet days and talkative days!! Thanks again for the nice review, your a peach!!

Overall
Mixed feelings about this shop

This store has a pretty good selection of beads and findings in a very small space. Their prices run a little on the high side, but they have some nice beads. They don't have a very good selection of quality stones and what they do have is over-priced, same with their Vintaj and metal components. They have done a good job of displaying their abundance of glass and seed beads. I enjoyed their displays, they use antique furniture and it gives the shop a nice atmosphere, but they could use more lighting to show off the goods! The staff is pleasant, but not really friendly; they're there to show you where to find things, but not really helpful when it comes to info or answering questions on some of the merchandise. Don't ask to use their restroom or a chair...they'll send you down the street to a public restroom or across the street to a park bench, which put me off. Most beaders are well-mannered and civilized enough to use bead store facilities!!

Thank you for this review!! I feel these reviews are a good way to 'keep us on our toes' so to speak but, so I would like to address the reviews here. I have to say you are right about the selection of stone, it is not our main focus and not one of our strong suits!! And the metals!! That Vintaj is crazy expensive!! All metals have gone way up due to the turn in the econonmy. I do try to find the best quality for the best prices. In referance to better lighting I again agree but with 17 ft high ceilings you have to rent scafolding and move everything to install new lighting. I sure wish the bead faries would come in some night and do this!!! Being disabled myself, I know how important being able to sit down is. We have a table with 3 chairs just for this reason....maybe you were here on a day we had a trunk show and the table was being used for that?? O.K. the restroom issue, this is the most frequent and most misunderstood aspect of the shop. This building was built in 1910,anyone who knows old buildings knows what it is like to put a bathroom in to a building that originally had an outhouse. It is put in a tiny closet and because it is so small it is not fit for people with disabilities which means we are not allowed by the city to let anyone but us use it. Believe me, I wish it was different. It is also right in the area where all our backstock is and in this day and age we just cant let people we don't know be in our backstock area unattended....it's just not good business!! I agree with you "that most beaders are well mannered and civilized" and I just ask that each of you please put yourself in our place and remember we don't always have controle of all the things that make you unhappy with us. I don't know about other places but we are a business that would like to make everyone happy, and we really do try, but remember we have bad days too. Please feel free to contact me with concerns. Kindly, Rosie Long Owner
