With all the recent hype over this place since it has opened, we thought we'd give it a try. At first we were going to Taste of India but decided to come here. The food was average. Not as good as Taste of India or other Bay Area Indian restaurants. I had a paneer burji wrap that wasn't even edible because they stuffed it so much, everything kept falling out. The bhel puri didn't have much flavor because the spice took over. It was more spicy than flavorful. Bhel puri we've had at other places has more ingredients but this one didn't have much. The pani puri was nice. It came with the pani & spiced potatoes, channa, onions & one more type of channa. The paronte were okay. Pretty dry because no ghee or butter was put on. The raita tasted a little old. The mango lassi was great! They seem to have too many waiters than needed. A lot of them were just walking around aimlessly. We never had just one server. We had a different person come to us every time, so that was 4 servers. Maybe I'll give this place another try, but for now, I'm sticking to Taste of India. Oh, and we were also given the wrong check.
Service was bad. The waiter who took our order, didn't even check if we need anything until we were almost done with our meal. When we asked about 'mach jhol', he recommended to get the mach jhol special. When we asked what's in it, he wasn't even sure. He replied, " some rice, ummmm, fish, ummmm and something something. The sweets were ok, but no, they do not serve bengali food. They should stick to Punjabi desi khana, and stop misleading people. I am sorry for being blunt, but this is what I experienced there.
Food is basically good during buffet however trays are poorly stocked or not at all. I arived a little after one PM and the trays were nearly empty. I requested more and the "auntie" was very reluctant to do so. It took half a hour to bring out a bowlful, by that time I was ready to go back to work. This has happened on several occassion. Service is spotty if only the auntie is there. This place is a hit or miss.
Actually when I came to USA this was my first time to sit and eat in a restaurant. I ordered a plate which consists of rice, chicken 65, mutton masala, nons and last one my favourite item gullab jamun. I liked that food which had satisfied my hungry at lunch time. Thank you Biryani Bowl. I will visit soon.
This place has some good traditional Indian food like Chole Bhature and some spicy chaat too. I would rate them 3.8 out of 5 for their good food - they loose some points for lack of proper service.
Just tried the Chinese n Bombay style food so far and I'm gonna come for more ... Looks like a new n very promising Indian food option for the Bay Area food junkies...Go n check it out
I like this place very much as the food is very good and also it is very covenant point for meeting
