Got a group together to celebrate my birthday. Since we enjoy the AYCE feast so much at the Route 17 location I picked Mad Crab as the destination. Went to the one in Massaponax since it is bigger and we had a group of 14. To say that we were disappointed would be an understatement. The reason for going was to get the AYCE. First thing we are told is that they don't have enough shrimp to allow for the feast. 2 of the group were allowed to order 1/2 pound of shrimp each and that was it. I was the only who got the AYCE feast because I agreed to eaing just crab legs....no shrimp. After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes the first plate arrived at the table.....chicken Alfredo. It was another 20 minutes before the rest of the food arrived. One person who ordered chicken tenders never did get her order. She had hush-puppies and biscuits for dinner. I ended up with a total of 8 crab leg clusters. Not exactly AYCE. I was going to order fried oysters to go along with my crab kegs but when I oredered them I was told that they had run out fo those as well. It took us 3 requests to finally get a manager to the table and she tells us that the truck didn't come in today so they were short of food. It's St. Patricks Day, the NCAA tournament is playing in the bar and you run out of food? Maybe the fact that we were the only people on the restaurant side of the business on a Friday night should have been a hint! I don't usually post negative reviews because I realize folks have a bad day on occasion but this was ridicules. We had folks who drove up from Petersburg and down from Manassas for nothing. Next time I eat seafood it will be somewhere else.
My first time there it was a little disappointing because when you buy the 45.99 option blue crab is a part of the list which you can select under that option....but you can't anymore you have to buy the blue crab separate so remove blue crab from the list (false advertisement)..... but the crab cake and oyster are GREAT!!!!!
HANDS DOWN THE BEST SEA FOOD IVE EVER HAD IN VIRGINIA. I am from the Northern Virginia area and I've been looking for some good sea food spots for a very long time. I never mind the drive out to Fredericksburg for seafood that fresh. Definitely the best kept secret in Virginia and a must have meal.
It was the best, on fathers day we came in to eat and it was great. The manager (Jeff) was excellent and my waiter (Sam) was even better , this was the first time for me and I will most certainly recommend this restaurant. Thanks!!!
Moved my daughter & her family to Va. Treated them out & so glad I did. The best Red Lobster we have ever eaten at & that's coming from a retired 30 year Marine. Semper Fi.....
It's expensive to eat here but I'd say it's worth it the crab legs are as good as anywhere else and overall it was a pleasant experience
I try this resturant for the first time and i ordered the fish tacos was AMAZING defiantly I'm coming back
This was the only place I could find that sold Salted Herring fish! The price was great as well. Thanks!
Had the fried scallops with fries and hush puppies. Best meal I've had all week. Very friendly service
